My doctor wants me to be teetotal, no alcohol whatsoever, for 6 consecutive weeks. Something regarding my thyroid.

However, I do not need alcohol for partying. It'd still be good to go out with my friends. Refreshments are pretty mandatory and water gets old pretty fast. Do you have manchild like tendencies? IE: you have no future plans and just yolo everyday? The women in your life leave you because they can't just sit in a relationship that stays the same forever, there needs to be progress in a relationship for it to be successful. Marriage and kids needs to be on the table after the first 12 months of any adult relationship. You don't have all the time in the world.

When trying to shred, is it better to lift with light weight/high rep or just minimize lifting and just do cardio and body weight workouts?
Lift the same you do as when bulking.
Just reduce number of sets by ~30%.
Do plenty of cardio too.
The "high-rep lightweight for weight loss" idea is wrong.
You are aiming to lose fat, not scale weight.
And of course, diet is by far more important than all the above points when it comes to losing fat.
