Reasons include: not being interested and not wanting to appear more interested than they are, being so interested that they want to avoid looking over eager at all costs, or that they feel rather neutral about you and are fine with talking when you initiate but feel no desire to initiate more interaction than you already have. As you already heard, girls texting first isn't an unheard of thing. They just typically get more attention, or from guys they are more lukewarm about, than they match with their own enthusiasm.

Am I a bad person if I knowing let my friend make poor decisions? They have a record of not heeding my advice and by this point I'm kind of tired of wasting my time, effort and emotions on a person who won't even put what I say into consideration. I've been looking to learn to trill my R for a few weeks now. I really need it for Russian and Czech. I know Russian since birth and I still can't trill my R which is very very embarrassing.
Fortunately it didn't take me a long time at all to learn to vibrate my tongue. I can do it and I'm very happy that I can, however that is still not enough.

Some people say that Russian R is trilled, others say it's just a flap? Who the hell do I believe? How to do a flap, what is it about?

Quick question
Somebody backed up into my car in a parking lot and did a bit of damage to it. Their insurance will cover it, no big deal. But it's an old car and I just want to pocket the money.
I took the car down to a body shop and they quoted the damage at about $2500. Then I took it to the insurance company's shop and they said they'd only quote me for $1200, and said if the shop I went to needed more they would give it to them.
Is there any way for me to get more money out of their insurance company if I don't plan on getting the car fixed?

The insurance co won't give you any more than the book value of the car. They're probably classing it as "fair" condition. You might be able to convince them to upgrade it to "good" and get a little more out of them. And since the car is for their purposes totalled, you should get the check directly, to spend as you wish.
