i volunteered at a hospital for a few months. got hired. they'll always take volunteers, need to get yourself in the right department to meet people, shake hands, etc. the risk is that even if you're competent at your job and you seem to get along well with everyone, if they don't have room in the budget and no one is leaving then you're just there.

I fucked up. Green text story short I signed a lease and forgot about and found a better place and never moved in to the original lease I signed. It would be okay if I could break the lease via payment but the only way to break the lease is to find a replacement tenant and given that:
a) The tenant would have to share a 4 bed 4 bath unit with 3 other people
b) It's summer and this college town is dead plus summer classes have already started
I can't find a replacement tenant.
I asked the employees there what they would do if I signed my lease but...

Gf (26) recently moved 3 weeks ago out of state for school. I'm moving in 6 weeks.
Gf has an older (30's) roommate finishing up school. Lived in apartment for a few years.

I'm also an artist and I know this guy's artwork is really good. I told my friend that I agree with the artist and that he's being reasonable. I also told him that unfortunately there's a lot of artists who get asked to work for peanuts because a lot of people think artists are inferior.
He then told me he had asked two other artist about this guy and that they thought he was being an asshole.
I said I was sorry for them.
Then he got a little upset and told me that I was the only one talking about money and that no amount of money is worth dick if you act like one.
Finally I asked what he was really asking me about; the artist's demeanor or about his pricing.
He said his demeanor, to which I replied saying that since the convo was mainly about pricing I assumed it was about money.

Just to clarify they're my parents.
So long story short: my friend got kicked out of his house and so my family took him in while he got his life under control (school, job, all that shit). It's now been a year and he's been working part time for the better part of that year.
The problem is that he just plans on chilling the whole summer. He doesn't want to work full time or take extra classes. He's basically bumming at my parents house.
I plan to move out in a month or two so there's a good chance he'll be here for a while...
