So I've always been talking to people online. Even in the days of UT04. I generally make friends anywhere I go in public, so it would be a given that I would make a decent connection with people online.
One of the groups I talk to, I've known them for about 5ish years. It prob has 200ish people but I only talk to like 10 of them. I don't talk about personal stuff with them, just light conversations (Video Games, TV shows, General stuff) and I prob would never meet them in public if given the offer.
My family thinks that I'm talking to Undercover...

How old are you....?
Just lie. When I was younger I would just say they're from school. And if you're not in school just say its someone from work. Shouldn't be hard unless your family hardcore snoops or something.

I'm 20 at the moment.
I'll be done with school in 1 semester and hopefully I'll be able to find a job and get a place of my own.
Its only my Mother is the one that freaks out. My Father and Older Sister acknowledge it but don't think much of it.
She sees it as a "invasion of privacy" more or less
>>16940874
What are pedos going to do to you at 20 for Christ's sake? You are an adult you can make your own desicions online.
hey /adv/
I'm 28 years old male and I'm thinking about going full nocturnal. I simply function better when the sun is down and I would have learned a whole lot more in school if it were to have taken place at night.
Any tips? Like move to a city where there is a lot of 24hr activity going on? What type of job should I get? How do I meet fellow nocturnal people?
thanks
>>16940801
Las Vegas? Card dealer?
>>16940822
sounds appealing, the idea of working with people who are on vacation is pretty cool
Not a good idea had a cousin who was stationed in Alaska who was technical nocturnal since the sun doesn't have the same patterns as it does anywhere else,he came back messed up needing pills to fix his "cycle" in his brain.
I love the night but I wouldn't disregrade the sun,too many negatives
>nobody you know comes to you for advice

people come to me to fucking vent
because i'm a silent guy they love earfucking me with shit i don't care about
it truly is the worst feeling
The struggle is true, friend. Checked btw
>inb4 "this isn't /b/"
>>16940795
I'm the opposite. I love hearing people's problems and they love to vent to me. It's become like a drug to me desu
Girlfriend and I just broke up because she couldn't accept anything I said which disagreed with what she thought. She was the one who initiated it because we talked about different things which she took personally, and she didn't like me questioning her beliefs.
It hurts so bad, and I can't help but thinking it's my fault for constantly trying to find things to talk about. They always ended up being controversial and her despising me anymore.
I gave her till morning to reconsider and I tried everything to get her back, but she wants someone who agrees...

Mate, it sounds like you're better off.
If a person can't understand that they will never find a carbon copy of themselves as a partner, then they need serious growing up to do.
It's a very immature and selfish desire to have, and I think you're probably getting the better deal here, because you don't have to make the difficult choice of leaving her for pressuring you into her ideals and beliefs.
>>16940787
You don't want to be with a woman who can't accept your point of view. Not even a woman like your girlfriend can accept that deep down.
All that will happen in the long run is that she will become insecure and anxious because you can't control her. And that'll be real bad for you in the long run as you could end up losing everything.
Find yourself a girl who dotes on your every word and man up man.

So I've been thinking of pursuing a law degree. I've been leaning towards criminal law and procedure, but what would /adv/ suggest? Keeping an open mind.
do you have connections to a law firm?
being a lawyer is not a great idea these days
>normal bachelor's degree
>job at starbucks and $40,000 debt
>law degree
>job at starbucks and around $120,000 debt
the market is bad and the education is ridiculously expensive. Not a good time, although as the other poster suggested, if you have a guaranteed opportunity when you get out you could still do okay.
>>16940770
I do not.
>>16940799
Well, I'm using the GI bill and VA tuition assistance, so student debt doesn't worry me much.
/adv/, I've gotten terribly obsessed with a girl recently. Now, this isn't about dating advice. Would I qualify for anxiety medication?
I've had this issue for about two months now.
I can't focus because the thoughts are invasive.
My motivation is shot into the fucking ground.
Whenever she shows up at my work, I'm wracked with nerves and I become more irritable with the people around me.
Because I'm obsessed and can't get my work done, I've been considering suicide recently just to get out from between this hard place and a rock. I've lost my joy.
I've been trying to get around this issue, but it's just not working out. I've been refusing to see any therapists or try for any medication because I wanted to avoid that route altogether, but I'm starting to be concerned for my own well-being. I know, I know: "Stop being such a bitch", and I'm REALLY trying to do that, but I'm starting to fear I might actually try to kill myself before I can muster that internal will.
Recommendations?
See a psychiatrist, talk to them about the issue, and see if they'll prescribe you some anxiety meds.
Or meditation. Helps me with almost everything.
>>16940730
Meds are for the weak.
>>16940730
If you talk to a psychiatrist they'll probably start you on an ssri. Or tell you to fuck off. Depends on how you explain it and your life. If you can get it out that it's a reoccurring theme with random girls and you want to do something but just really can't then yea. You'll get something. If you say it's just about ""her"" youll get kicked to the curb.
But it might not be a benzo if that's what you want.
Please help me.
I'm very far from being able to afford an apartment, but I really don't want to buy one and be completely disappointed or have to move back in with my family.
What do I need to know that people normally don't know?
I understand I must bring my own furniture for basically everything (except a stove, sink, fridge, toilet and so on).
And some come with A/C and heating? I always see banners out exclaiming, 'we have heat! We have a/c!"
What about cable? (Never had it, dont know lick about it)
What about internet? (Im also...

I almost passed you up op, but I felt bad. I got my first apartment when I was 17 so I have some tips...
Apartments aren't crazy complicated.
If you live near universities they get a lot cheaper especially with roommates.
My first apartment I paid $240 a month including utilities aka water, heat, ac, electricity.
That apartment came with wireless Internet and furnished so all I had to bring was bed sheets and whatever.
Some apartments won't come furnished and they might be a little cheaper that way
Work yourself up to furniture. You can live without...

Thanks a lot for answering! Honestly wouldn't have blamed you for ignoring me lol.
I have a massive list of practically all the utensils i would need. Toothpaste, silverware, shampoo, etc.
my biggest concern is that the apartment renters will 'hide the truth ' from me. Or pull the crap a car salesman will pull.
They would tell me stuff upfront right?
>>16940872
>my biggest concern is that the apartment renters will 'hide the truth ' from me.
About fucking what? An apartment is a sink, dishwasher, AC unit, four walls and a roof. If any of them breaks you call the maintenance guy or fix it yourself.

For years I hated having to have responsibilities, bullshit jobs, studies, etc etc etc. But now that I achieved the end game of being an otaku hikikomori (because I became sick long term) it's fucking awful. All I do is watch anime, play games and VN's all day.
Every day is exactly the same and I don't enjoy much anymore, anything I do that's remotely productive I lose interest in rapidly and then sick back into depression again.
How can I make my every day life more bearable?
Dude,I had the same problem. However I'm trying everything to improve myself better. In your case vidya isn't fun anymore because you're growing up.Besides that, you should learn guitar or another instrument, that will help you increasing your creativity.Trust me this works
Exercise a bit every day, you might want to start on the creative pursuit first or do them simultaneously. Make games a "treat" once you've done things that are good for you.
>>16941725
It's not fun anymore because he plays them so much now. It has nothing to do with "growing up." Plenty of healthy, functioning adults play games
How do I deal with the fact that nothing I do will be of any great importance
the same way everyone else does, temporary distractions like alcohol, socialization, hobbies to help you momentarily forget the crushing reality of human mortality
Do something about it. Stop being a fucking loser by always asking and waiting. Do it. You don't need to change the world, but you can change yourself, you fucking idiot. Learn to animate. Start making music. Do something. Stop being a fucking loser when you have as much opportunity as you do.
I became a selftaught animator and developed a career and living from using a shitty laptop that could barely run Flash.
Do something.

You'll die like everyone else, and anything anyone has worked for doesn't ultimately matter. So stop comparing yourself to others, they mean just as little as you do. Just take what you have and can get, and have fun with yourself, mate.
Does anyone make money in their free time (or what was free time at least)?
I work 6 days a week and am just getting by. I'm wondering what else I can research in order to make more. Like bitcoin or stocks or something?
I'm on unemployment. Does that count?
>>16940631

wtf are you wasting so much money on?
I could "get by" working a few hours a week
>>16940809
>lol op how are you so poor haha poverty
>I earn a proper wage myself why don't you eat cake too kek
Cool thing, bro. I have to remember always asking people with little money how they can be so poor while I am not.
How do you get by on 6 hours of sleep a night. I can't do it. I'm sleeping in class, shirking responsibility, and getting mad at stupid shit because i'm so god damn tired

coffee, cold water, and the need to take a piss keeps me awake.
you don't. either you have a deadline where you'll be able to sleep normally and soon or something's gotta give.

I've been an alcoholic for 7 years...Drinking 750ml (a 5th) of vodka or more every night.
Recently I've found a lot of blood in the toilet when I poop. It's bright red, there's no pain but it just drips out when I'm pooping. I also am having a significant amount of diarrhea that is like 80%water. I usually have diarrhea because of the alcohol but it's usually just small brown clumps with no liquid.
I also vomited (i was sober when this happened) some red stuff but I wasn't sure if it was a red soda i had drank hours earlier it blood

Oops. Accidentally hit post
I don't do any drugs but smoke 2 or 3 cigarettes a day
If it's in your stool AND was in your vomit, that indicates that this problem is stemming from your stomach. Which could imply a multitude of things including what you consume, a possible rupture/ internal bleeding, some type of disease. There's really no way to tell from what you've told us. Really the only thing you can do is go to your GP man sorry.
>>16940594
>i cant afford to go to a doctor
even if we coudl tell you whats wrong, you'd still need a doctor for treatment. take out a credit card, a personal loan, call mommy and daddy, look up 'free clinics in XX' or travel to the nearest one a state away just to get there.
a walk in clinic is 75 dollars. you could save that money for booze, but you'll die soon, so you might as well spend it on treatment.
I am completely lost on what I should do. I am 18(almost 19) and about to graduate from high school. I will probably not be going to college. I will be getting kicked out after summer.
All I really do is smoke a lot of weed, occasional pills(opiates+benzos), and drink on weekends. I have never had a girlfriend and the 'friends' I do have are hardly friends, more like smoking buddies. All I have done the last 4 years is fucking play vanilla wow on private servers while accomplishing absolutely nothing towards my real life. Will probably buy some heroin for the first...

Not do heroin for starters. Unless the goal is to end up dead in McDonald's bathroom one day.
Well, you could join the military.
>but I don't want to risk my life fighting a war I probably don't support
Well, its better than the road you're heading down. Ask me, US Army, SPC, 89B (ammunition specialist) and my life's pretty decent. Plus, girls dig it (sometimes, gotta be humble about it) and love a man in uniform. Although the best part is the friends you'll make. Literally people I would die for. Love them to death. And if you decide that you actually want to pursue a degree, VA education benefits is where...

my advice is to join the military to force yourself out of your shitty situation
your options are to sort your shit out or end up as a junkie living on the street, don't fucking buy heroin you don't want to go down that road. When (not if) you get addicted you'll have to be on methadone for the rest of your life if it doesn't kill you first and you ever try to get clean.
Alright so simple question. A ton of job applications ask when you started working at and when you left a job. Worse even, some ask to the fucking day. I can't even remember the month? How should I handle this while I'm putting out applications? Should I just round to january 1st and put the year I started and left?
Not many people applying to jobs on these boards?
just give a rough estimate, when it asks to the day I just try to remember what month I left and put the first of the month
>>16940582
Just roughly figure it out. I'm sure you can use context clues to kind of remember. You know how many years you worked there, right? Was it cold? Pick a winter month. Warm? Summer. If they bother to check with you on the background check, just admit that you had to round it, since you don't remember. If you worked for a larger company, you can call HR and clear it up. They have to record this kind of thing.
