The Fragile was/is my favorite NIN album, and easily one of my top-10 albums of all time and NIN themselves are in my top-10 favourite bands ever. Definitely robot music.
I don't even care for edgy anxiety music anymore, but Trent Reznor is just such a god damn one-man machine musical genius, and now has an azn qt wife. Definitely my hero and inspiration.
To answer your question, I don't really have a single favourite band, and I wouldn't pretend to like shittier bands just to impress a girl. Every girl that I've been with shared (more or less) the same music taste as me.
