Hello /fit/, today I put excuses behind me and start a summer weight loss journey. I'm 6 feet 4 inches and while I can do workouts, walk and do most things healthy people can do, I'm concerned I'll go downhill if I continue you to be a chubby fuck. I'm about 400 pounds, and I have all summer to change that number. Any workout, dietary or lifestyle choices? I plan on starting a summer lawn mowing job with a push mower, hauling wood for a self made mini carpentry business and working out. No more excuses for me, I need to change my life around. I can't wait to surprise people when school starts back up in 3 months.

Part I

A couple things.

Firstly, read the sticky. It should be the first thing that comes up whenever you access the /fit/ homepage.

Secondly, don't overdue it! Your attitude is great, but you don't want to go so hard so fast that you wind up injuring yourself or passing out. Mowing lawns over the summer with a push mower is hard work. You don't want to be eating a steady diet of celery and carrotsticks while pushing a mower for hours in 85+ degrees Fahrenheit.

Thirdly, set realistic goals. You're not going to be thin by the end of summer. I mean, it's already June 8th. You can definitely lose weight though! With how overweight you are, you're going to notice some significant drops in weight pretty quickly. However, healthy weight loss for an average person is around 1 - 2 lbs in body ft per week.

OP here. I know I won't be as skinny as a Popsicle stick, but I do plan on dropping down at least 2 sizes. I'm not going to a beach or anything to impress women, I'm gonna do my own thing really. I plan on sticking to the 5 food groups really. Big meat and milk consumer, but I gotta eat more fruits and veggies, that's for sure. Also, is diet soda typically frowned upon? Family upbringings have made that the only soda I really drink, but I don't think I should have diet soda, but is it ok?

Anyone else noticed that they are treated differently after they started lifting?

A few things I've noticed:

- More people call your sir.

- Not having to wait in line at the bar, grocery store, etc.

- People get out of your way when walking through halls at work.

- Don't have to pay your tab at small clubs.

- Women blush spill spaghetti when talking to you more.

- Older milfs will make up excuses to feel your muscles.

Anyone else find people treat you differently now that you're /fit/?

Yeah, these. Not the milf thing but when I'm interacting with random people, I'll see them, in my peripheral vision, checking me out, both men and women equally. Before I started lifting I actually fantasized about this, but now that I'm actually here I don't really like it unless it's a girl I find attractive.

Cancelled my gym membership, sold my home gym, and threw away all of my supplements.

Such a waste of time. And for what? It's completely unnecessary and serves no purpose.
Muscles are not needed, especially in today's society where the intellect, personality, and face reigns supreme.

To be honest, the "bodybuilding lifestyle" seems almost like a childish endeavour at this point, and I don't mean any disrespect, but it seems like the most serious lifters (asides from guys who are legit bodybuilders/fitness models/elite athletes but they represent a very low % of dedicated lifters) are also the people with nothing else going on in their lives.
I know this was true with me, I was biggest and most serious about lifting when I was still in uni, working only 15 hours a week, and pretty much just plucking around all the time, going out, with no real responsibilities.

The most jacked guys I see are baby faced roiders trying to pick up ugly girls in the clubs, and frat boys who have no job and don't give 2 fucs about school so they spend all their time in the gym.
I'll GLADLY go back to being a 200lb 6'3 weakling or a "non-lifter" or whatever derogatory term you guys want to throw at me, but I don't care. I'll be proud. I can eat whatever I want and finally free up my mind to do what's important in life.

To all you kids out there who are getting sucked into the bodybuilding and fitness illusion, try to stop yourself.
So long as you have and maintain decent facial aesthetics, you'll be fine.
Bodybuilding's just not worth it.

Are there any excersise routines that don't build muscle?
I'm female, currently weighing about 49kgs, and I'd say my height is about 162cm. I want to be thin enough to be able to see my ribs, and also have a flat stomach, but I don't want any kind of build or anything like that.
I know this probably sounds incredibly unhealthy, but it seems unfair that it's acceptable for people to be overweight, if not obese, yet I can't be underweight.
I'm aiming to drop down to 45kgs, and stop there.
So, basically, are there any exercisesI can do solely to lose weight?

Being overweight IS unacceptable, just like being underweight. It's just that people are idiots and want to feel good about not taking care of themselves. You might develop some health issues at that low of a weight.

That being said, if you really want to do it eat a little below your maintenance calories. Don't go too low, you'll either start to store fat or you'll go full anorexic depending on how low you cut your calories.

As for exercise, just do some cardio a couple times per week.

i've read the sticky.

my measurements are:
36" bust
30" waist
37" hips
I want to reduce my waist by as much as possible.
and increase my bust my as much as possible.

This is more or less my "natural" size; I'm 6'2" and weigh about 155lbs; I don't know what to do to achieve my goal; which is to just have some differenciate between my waist and hips so that i look less masculine, since my hip measurement is mainly ass, not actual hips.
i've been on hormones for two years

if it's possible to widen my hips i'd love for that also? but no surgery for that exists, correct?
