Yes, they are very insecure. She was a tubbers as a kid, and lost weight. I'm equally messed in the head from being dysmorphic, so it was weird, being the object of a fit, hot grills attention, and she seemed to like me more than I like myself. We ended up drifting apart though, she had issues, and I hated myself and was only kinda using her for sex.

After we broke up, she stopped lifting and put the weight on again.
I'm now bisexual and still hate myself.

I'm looking to primarily lose fat, and hopefully gain some muscle in the process.


For reference, I'm 5'11" male and weigh 145 lbs. I am going to say roughly 25% body fat, though it's estimated without proper tools.

I've already started the process by following the sticky - Following the starting strength weight lifting program, and tracking my calories/macros.

I've been doing this for 2 weeks, and I plan to continue doing it, but I'm wondering when I will begin to notice changes. My weight has stayed relatively the same, though I think my posture has improved overall.

I also have some concerns I was hoping someone could address -

I am only lifting 50 lbs, with a bar that's roughly 10 lbs (total to 60 lbs). at the moment. I don't typically change weights for different exercises because it takes a lot of time to do that. I was wondering if part of the reason why might have to do with having a shitty/cheap clamp/bar? Is there anything I can do to make that easier? Is it not absolutely necessary for me to use different weights for different exercises?

Is it normal to be lifting such a low amount of weight when starting if relatively out of shape?

I'm under the impression that I'm supposed to be cutting at my current weight/body fat, though I am ensuring I get enough protein. At what point is a good time to stop cutting? Currently eating 1600 calories a day.

Tomrrow morning I'll be headed to the hospital for my-long-delayed-but-finally-here scoliosis surgery and will be hospitalised for about a week or less.

After the appropriate amount of recovery from the surgery I've been recommended to do some physical exercies to toughen the muscles around the area of the spine that will be worked. I've been suggested swimming, jogging and cycling so far, but I want to ask you guys what else you'd suggest.

As for my diet, I'm pretty sure it will have to change from what it is now (pretty bad, microwave burgers everyday, soda and a variety of unhealthy and cheaps nacks). I've never been much of a fitness person because I've never really been overweight (not to mention I've always lack the willpower and diligence for such things) but what would you guys suggest in terms of diatry changes in order to make sure my recovery period goes well?

as for that, don't expect the NHS to actually keep in touch with their patients. They cancelled my surgery and I only found out about it 4 days before from some nurse because she told me she wasn't sure if my surgery was on the day that I claimed it was when I went for the final assessment day, so she checked the system for me and it said they cancelled it about a week before yet they didn't even bother to get in touch with me based on that.

I'm starting to wear suits and while I'm not overweight I'm still not fit so my shoulders are small while all my fat rests on my hips (I've got a slightly feminine shape which makes people think I'm female when seen from behind, specially when I had long hair), thing is I'd like to look more masculine specially when wearing a suit any tips?

Ask the nursing staff for specific kinds of food instead of this,
Take it easy and don't lift while injured, you'll just fuck yourself up. Legs are probably still fine to exercise but I wouldn't risk abs or anything above that

Dad bought a chin/pull up bar, punching bag, bench and DB's. Made me a babbys first home gym routine, was good but i didnt train legs. I fell in love with that stuff and dad kept encouraging me.
