This is probably the weirdest situation I've encountered in my recent adulthood; I met a female who, to my dismay, is involved with a group who manages a third party club promotional company. Moreover, we are complete opposites, although we are both originally from the disadvantaged inner city. Next, I've overcome this with education and common sense, while she still not only lives there, but still has some "hood" qualities (calling cops pigs, isn't phased by drive by shootings, etc.)
As far as my dismay with her "club" involvement, it involves consistent weekend meetings with these members who subsequently drink alcohol, sometimes excessively, in the midst of their club promotional duties. She even went as far to drive home tipsy one day, even when she told me she was good to drive. (Not sure why she would care to tell me this if she's not really interested in a relationship). She knew I would complain about it.
We've met twice, we kissed, we've held each other, I've bought her dinner, and we've held hands. Regardless in her attempts to sugar coat it, I am probably light years on the other side of the spectrum as far as the kind of men she's used to dating. She's used to dating the thuggish, latino types, and has certainly informed me as such.
Furthermore, she has exhibited the fact that she has a very strong wall up that she's not inclined to tearing down anytime soon. She included that we are just friends, she's not looking for anything, consistently refers to me as a friend, and that she's definitely all about going with the flow. Despite this however, she still allows me the privilege of kissing her and holding her as if she was my own.
When I ask to see her, she always has to see if something else is going on and isn't reliant on spontaneity. Recently, the second time I seen her, she told me that she's able to see me for 45 minutes, changed her mind, said that she has to spend time with her parents after eating as she always does, and pressed the fact that she felt it was a waste of my time to drive 25 minutes to see her for only 45. After pressing a little more, she agreed to meet me half way, and we ended up seeing each other for an hour. She allowed me to kiss her, caress her and hold her, too.
If she truly isn't looking for anything, and she knows I don't agree with her "clubby" lifestyle, why is she allowing me to serenade her with my feelings, knowing that I'm looking for more, despite her claims of requesting the opposite?
Deal with it or stop seeing her if you're looking for more.
You're all probably wondering why I'm even interested if I'm a little bothered by this stuff? Well, I'm getting tired of turning down every single opportunity that comes in front me me, as horrible as I end up think they are.... and I don't want to end up alone by doing so.... and I'm extremely attracted to her and it's not everyday a female allows me to touch them and appreciate them like she has permitted, despite the negatives.

It's not because a person is young and naive that a relationship with them would necessarily constitute taking advantage of her. It is perfectly possible to have an informed, honest and mutually pleasant relationship with someone inexperienced. However if you personally felt you might have given to the temptation of manipulating this person then most people would agree you did the right thing.

Listen, I'm not going to say there's something inherently wrong with a 27 year old having sex with an 18 year old but the implications are pretty heavy.
"Inexperienced" in this context is just a softer way to say "young, naive and immature".
Lets just go off of the basis that there's nothing wrong with her emotionally or psychologically and that we live in a world where no one would bat an eye at a 27 year old man dating an 18 year old girl.
Firstly, you couldn't expect her to make adult decisions about anything. You'd spend half of your time teaching her how to live life as opposed to sharing your life with her. Secondly, you could never be really sure if her decision to be with you was at all properly informed seeing as how she has literally no point of reference to base her decision on. To you, she's the next girl in a string of relationships. To her, you're a brand spanking new relationship with an adult, something she has absolutely no knowledge of.
Your knee jerk reaction that you were taking advantage of her naivety was most likely connect. Chances are she'd fall in love with you, plan on marrying you etc., you know, shit that 18 year old girls do.
She doesn't know any better. While it may not be your responsibility to correct her decision making and you COULD of had sex with her without technically doing anything wrong you did do the more mature thing.

This is going to sound strange, but I'm 23 and I've been living alone for the past few months. Recently I've been extremely depressed and the idea of cutting myself seems *very* tempting. I have never seriously considered cutting myself before in my life but now I feel like I really just might walk to the kitchen, grab a knife, and do it.
Has anyone else felt this way? I don't think I've heard of anyone doing it this late in life. How do you cope?

Was a dumb kid finding out his crush was gettin' plowed by pedos for booze nightly. Didn't take it well and was willing to try anything to distract me from the emotional pain - even if it meant having to deal with physical pain.
Cutting never felt right to me... maybe it was fear of infection, or cutting too deep and accidentally offing myself, not to mention hiding all the blood.
It's too messy.
So I burned a fork over a fire, and branded my arm repeatedly.
It did distract me from the emotional pain... for a few seconds.
But it isn't worth it... you'll end up either being forced to hide your scars (that'll last forever) or having to answer questions about it.
And people will know it's self-harm.
And they will assume it's a cry for attention.
Self harm is not a cure for depression. Time is.

Easier said than done. There aren't any vets in my area who treat exotic animals. Only dogs, cats and livestock. It can be very difficult to find a vet who treats birds and reptiles, if you live in smaller cities.
