Whether or not that's a suspending offense probably varies from district to district, but one way or another you're in trouble. That stuff has been punishable for decades.

Because anyone can sit down and memorise a textbook, and then regurgitate it. Participation shows that you've a) absorbed and understand what you've learnt and b) you're willing to go above and beyond the bare minimum.
