Practically, the alternative is to be alone for the rest of your life with no channel (in this case your wife and your employment) to join society. While at the same time still not having any companionship in a partner or pride in a son or daughter.
I would gladly settle with a wife with reasonably good genetics even if she's somewhat degenerate and had what we would call a wild past. At this point in my life it's doubtful that I can get even that. I want a family and a career that, while at the lower tier, I care about enough to inspire me to improve as a person and a member of society.
On the other hand, it's very possible that this is not worth it and I'd be better with 2D. Thoughts?
