What does /r9k/ fantasise about?
Despite having no musical talent, I daydream about dropping out of university and forming a band which makes fast and angry music a la Black Flag and Minor Threat. That teenage angst obviously still hasn't quite left.

All I want is to be in a punk band. Considering guitar lessons, but 24 is probably too old to learn to play very well.

For me it's never been about complaining aobut not getting laid, frogs or being NEETs.
For me /r9k/ is a meeting place for those lost who just keep repeating the same mistakes for countless of days because they are unable or unwanting to change. It is a place for us to converse and advice each other to escape this meaningless cycle.
The understanding of never being alone with your problems, someone has always experienced the same and can relate is truly beatiful.
I feel like this kind of meaning for the board has been small for the few recent years but it still exists. Now then, share your own view on /r9k/.

Now its just a place to shitpost about epic memes because everyone around back then either died, moved on or is still here but is drowned out by the tourists here for the next big meme.
For me /r9k/ is just about people who are off. Any thread on the subject will show you that the majority of /r9k/ (not chad or normie posters) were raised by single mothers or single fathers. This board is about those who are stunted socially. It is for the mentally ill, it is for the ostracized, it is for all things and people outcast.
/r9k/ used to be a much better place. Not because it wasn't as filled with normies- because identity politics weren't as prevalent. Now everyone is so worried about if they are a true robot or a normie or a chad or whatever. There is so much pride behind being a robot for many people, when really it's not about labels. I'm not saying that we should welcome obvious Chads with open arms, but in fighting and identity politics is the cancer killing this place. So much animosity, this place used to be the place to come for sincerity on 4chan. Where everyone shared their relatively similar feelings, not similar because everyone was a virgin, similar because they weren't common feelings found in society.
tl;dr the board is about people who are off, and in fighting about who is "off" enough is killing it

I am at my first year of university trying to turn my life around.
I am 22 years old and I will feel so dam stupid around all these teenagers. The teacher asks questions and everyone has an in depth answer and detailed questions. Meanwhile I am struggling just to understand the words used in questions. I am trying so dam hard to catch up with my education from dropping out of highschool.
I am studying construction engineering and I have yet to even get to any math classes.
Right now I need to discuss and explain the main principles of BIM (Building Information modelling). This is just 1/3 of what is required of a report and I don't even understand what he wants.
What does this mean? What are principles? I am so dam confused please help.
Not gonna sugar coat it, friend. College might not be the path for you. There's nothing wrong with that, there are plenty of well paying jobs that don't require formal education. If you're really dedicated to making it through college though I would recommend getting a tutor or friend to help you. Not trying to be rude but deciding early would save you time and money.

Hold me, /r9k/. I just lost my dog of 5 years, Jack. Something got to him last night (He's an outside dog out in the country) and it bit his neck. I found him this morning and my parents helped me move him into the kitched where I watched him for most of the day while I caught up on some work. There wasn't a single vet opened around here today so we couldn't do anything but what we knew to do. We decided that we'd put him in my bathtub for the night and we'll just keep doing what we can till Monday comes when we'd have taken him to the vet. About 30 minutes ago I went to take a piss before fapping to some g/fur and I noticed his breathing was really sharp and hard. I got my mom and we sat there by the bathtub trying to make his last moments comfortable. About 5 minutes later he breathed his last breath. We sat and cried for a few minutes and then we decided we'll go bury him in the morning. When I was walking back to my bedroom and I heard her close the shower curtains I lost it and started crying again. He was my best friend. He'd do anything and go anywhere as long as I was there.
