Well, right now I'm NEET but I got a job as a programmer and will be starting soon. Went through a layoff early this year
Yes, definitely can live very comfortably, but I'm a little older and have had time to build things up. And because of some planning and living below my means, I actually don't have to go back to work for a long, long while. But NEET life gets boring and this job fell into my lap. I'll fulfill the contract, but after that, I'll pay a few things off and maybe I'll just bail and NEET it up again. Depends on how stressful the job is.
My main qualification, honestly, is simply my experience. But, I'm also a good communicator, which opens more doors.
I'd recommend this job but only if you are pretty clever and really have an interest in it. Don't do it just for the money, you won't make it.
What brought you to /r9k/?
