Man, I hate how beta I am.
All you have to do with DnD is learn the basic rules. Everything else is flexible. Think of those rules as just a base so there's some consistency in game. Nothing is set in stone.
That being said, I also would like to play DnD but only have one friend that wants to do it. I'm gonna put up a flier in the comic book store asking for players.
Just read the rulebooks and do that.

You only need to know the rules that apply to your specific character. So if I'm playing a rogue elf I should know about any advantages an elf has what rouge abilities I have.
Think of the rulebook as more of a reference guide that you can look through while playing.

I'm facing the prospect of needing to work full time and am an autist by nature. How do I make the process suck less?
For context I spend all day browsing the internet and have no other interests.
Well, one way to minimize suckiness is by getting a job where you don't have to interact with people much/at all.
So fast food and call centers are off the table.
There are production line jobs and night time custodial jobs where you don't have to talk to anybody. near mindless work, so you can just listen to music/podcasts/japanese lessons on your ipod while you work.
I currently work on a production line. I have't spoken to anybody here in 7 weeks.
