Sup /ck/. I want to know what you think about American portions served in restaurants. Several people on the internet say our portion sizes are gigantic, and that's why we are all fat. But is that really the case?

I went to an upscale pub, and got their chicken tacos for lunch.

It was 2 small tortillas, with a bit of chicken and some veggies. The side was literally 9 tortilla chips, and some salsa. I honestly think that's a pretty small serving size

Or are American's brainwashed about serving sizes?

Americans are fat because of eating way too much processed garbage fast food and tv dinners and sitting on their asses in front of the tv and computers all day..

I mean, yea. But if you have 500 calories of processed garbage per meal, vs. 1100 calories of processed garbage per meal....you are going to be skinnier.

Does anyone remember pink Himalayan salt guy? This would have been 5-6 years ago maybe, posted pics of his meals every single day, used elegant glasses for milk, put cumin and PHS on everything. I want to relive the good old days. Anyone got screencaps? Google turns up nothing.

What is the worst thing you made drunk? Here's mine

All microwaved:

Angel hair pasta
Swiss and mushroom frozen patty
Prego sauce
Parmesan cheese

Duck sauce and balsamic vinegar between two pieces of white bread.

So in the last cheese thread the WIDF accused me of being from Dorset although I have never been to the UK other than flying over it to get to Europe. Not knowing much about the UK, the word stuck in my mind, and today I saw a Dorset cheddar in my local cheese shop, aged 16 months, on sale for $8.99 a pound.

It's really nice. It cracks into big pieces as I slice it, so these big chunks fall off the knife, exposing the stinky cheese juice inside the crevices. The telltale crunch of a well aged cheese is reassuring.

This contrasts with the last thing I tried from Wisconsin, a "cheddar", also an impulse buy at $9.99 a pound. It was bright orange, smooth, utterly dry and plasticky, a clean inoffensive industrial odor, and no depth of flavor. It was almost indistinguishable from generic Kraft colby, aside from an almost imperceptible sharpness that I guess, to them, makes it worthy of the name cheddar. Surprisingly I think it was said to be a 12 month cheddar. Wonder what preservatives they use to make it age like that.

I also got a small block of Buontavola Provolone, which, needless to say, doesn't resemble Wisconsin "provolone" in the slightest. I'll probably save it for after dinner to finish off with the dregs of my bottle of spanna.

What is /cheese/ eating today?

Cooking a rabbit in the over,
this is my second attempt.
im going for the low and slow method.
oven at 240* to make up for the toughness of meat.
i killed and butchered the rabbit only a couple hours ago. been sitting in marinade.

give me some general tips or past experiences with cooking a rabbit.

PIC not exactly related, this pic was taken from google, but my rabbit is very similar looking, around 4 lbs

I don't know that rabbit is really a good meat for low and slow cooking. Not enough fat. Maybe you should lard it.

make stew

Hey /ck/ tried to make ceviche and it was awful. Followed the instructions here http://m.wikihow.com/Cook-With-Lime-Juice

Left it in the fridge for 8 hours like the instructions said, basically fish jelly at that point.

Only had steel bowls (pic from instructions somewhat related) but thought they were non-reactive, guess I was wrong. Any co/ck/s out there who can share a non shit ceviche recipe?

What is the best recipe for iced coffee?

P.S. I dislike sugary crap, so the less sugar the better.

>I want a recipe for iced coffee

Just plain iced coffee, then?
>>
Pour coffee over ice. Add milk or sugar to taste.
>>
Make a cold brew
then dilute, sweeten and flavor to taste
There is no best recipe, all you can do is experiment. Hell, not many people can even agree if cold brewing is the best thing to make iced coffee from.

Any type of greens based salad with roasted meat on top of it is my favorite food.

I eat salad twice a day as a main meal. I've always loved it, no idea why. It's a perfect meal in my opinion.

>favorite food and why
Sushi is one of those dishes I just never get tired of
>favorite international cuisine (e.g. mexican, japanese, italian, chinese, indian, american, etc...) and why
Not sure. I cook a lot of Japanese and Mexican food. Italian food is good but I hardly ever make it in an authentic way.
>favorite food you like to cook yourself
Different stews. They're filling, nutritious, easy to make and very satisfying
>favorite fast food restaurant
Local Indian takeout place has amazingly good food at shockingly low prices
