anyone ever made this successfully? I kind of followed a recipe, and I couldn't get it to set for the life of me. What makes it set? The pectin in the quince itself?

I'll ask the durka durka sand moolie who works for me how she makes it. It'll take me at least overnight to get back to you, though.

I'd appreciate it.

I flipped the whole thing and put it back in the oven.

According to the recipes I've read yes. But it takes a long time to cook... like upwards of 8 hours.

Ok guys, it's getting close to thanksgiving, and I have no clue what to make for a pie. I was thinking about my go to pumpkin cheesecake, but I'm getting bored of that.

What are you guys going to make, and what are your crust/pie recipes?

Do you guys use butter, or lard in your crust? ( Or both )

Tl;dr pie general

Low on food so I just ate half a can of Old El Paso refried beans, 2 veggie dogs, and 2 vegan sausage pattys (leftover from when my vegan sister visited). Tonight could be the gasiest night ever. I love a good fart session. What foods do you eat that give you gas? I remember apple juice used to make a friend of mine practically explode out of his bunghole.

>still believing this in current year

Anyone else a fan? I've been getting tired of just drinking coffee in the morning so here's my new routine.

In a small saucepan:

>Add enough oil to coat the bottom of the pan and heat over medium temperature - I have enjoyed both unsalted butter and coconut oil.

>Add 4 crushed cardamon pods, cinnamon, nutmeg, and two halved habaneros. Cook until lightly toasted and aromatic (~1min)

>Add 1 cup water or milk and simmer over medium-low heat for 10min

In a medium saucepan a the same time:

>Heat oil over medium-high heat

>Add about 1/4 bar pure dark chocolate that has been finely grated or broken up

>Reduce heat to lowest setting and melt

>Add 1 cup strong coffee and stir until combined

>Pour contents of small saucepan into the chocolate pan through a strainer

>Whisk to combine then enjoy hot or cold

Thoughts?

Personally, I would love to see a drink available in stores that is 1/2 cold brew and 1/2 xocolatl.

I've also heard about people using corn starch as a thickener, but I haven't really tried that yet.

Ehh fair enough. I usually have these on the back burner while my oatmeal cooks. Once I get the routine down, it takes me around 20 min to make breakfast then 30 min to eat and watch an ep of something before I go to class/work.

In a rush I usually just use a few dashes of cayenne instead of whole peppers. Cuts down on prep by a lot.

Let's get a weird family holiday meal traditions thread going. Before I got to college, I didn't realize that my family was the only one to honor Saint Daniel at our holiday meals with a "Daniels Plate". We basically set a place at the table and fill a plate high with food that is only for Saint Daniel to eat. We keep it there overnight.

What are your unique meal traditions like the Daniel Plate?

More entertaining environment to work in.

What state? Are you a dumbshit and asking for a break in the middle of a prep rush or service slam? Are you asking for five minute breaks 20 times in those 8-10 hour shifts? Welcome to food service, bitch. Most of us don't take breaks and work ten hour shifts six days a week on average. You sound like server material.
