I want to get a cat but have never had one before (my mom and sister were always allergic).
What is a good breed to get? I want one that is small, affectionate, nice to look at, and doesn't fuck up my tiny studio hobo apartment.

Cats like space and shit. Don't get one until you have a better, cleaner, larger place to live. No need to subject something else to a low standard of living when it's not necessary.
Get a male Maine Coon. They're easy mode. Super cuddly, just the right amount of playful, beautiful coats, and healthy. They're also actually affectionate and form strong bonds with their owners, unlike some cats. The only downside is a lot of other people also have realized that so Maine Coon kittens get snatched up from shelters pretty quick, but I still see them often enough. Do not get a female cat, definitely don't get a tortoiseshell. That's hard mode. Don't get a Siamese (they're so loud.)
Don't listen to the prev. anon, he's an idiot -- dogs require a larger living space and a lot more care and attention. Only get a dog if you can provide what it really needs.

Question for the girls, from a pretty inept guy.
When a girl is obviously, super obviously into me, in a situation where having casual sex is practical, what's the appropriate way to escalate to that? I find myself in situations like that a few times a year (anime cons, mostly), and they always slip away because I just don't have a clue how to present it. I feel like straight coming out and saying "let's go to my room" or "let's go fuck" is super weird.
I asked this yesterday, but it mainly became two people arguing with each other over something only partially related, so I'll try again.

For 7 years (now i'm 24) me and my mother suffered through my father's wacko bipolar disease.
But for all those years I've refrained to try to have relationships with any girl (besides friendship ofc) because I had to support my mother and confront my father. Every time he was admitted to the psych ward it tore my heart.
I did that to keep my family from falling apart and probably me living on the street or probably dead because my father had a gun, but it was in the local armory and I asked the Public Ministry (Portugal) to destroy it. They've accepted my request and I felt really happy when it did.

Now finally I have a degree, living in the capital for two months and I don't have friends here but my roommates.

This is my usual routine for dating. I dont enter long term monogamous relationships with girls who believe is having casual sex. Like Id date them and if I were into casual sex Id bang them, but Id never marry them so I usually just end it before too long.

Am I the only one who thinks that the impact rape can have on a person is overplayed in modern society?
I suppose I should clarify, that I don't mean violent rape in which a person is being beaten bloody and such while it happens, since that can clearly be traumatic, just like any other case that involves a person getting the ever living shit kicked out of them.
No, I mean like, the nonviolent rape, the one girls typically play up as the worst thing ever, where they don't consent, and some horny guy (like a friend ir a bf) forces himself on her, and despite not wanting it, she still gets aroused, and then gets dressed and goes home to cry about it.
I understand that it's more of a control and power issue in some way, and I'm not implying it's pleasant, but I am saying that it really isn't that bad either.

Now, I've never done this to any girl ever, but I have met a girl that's been through this. And she cited this event as the major turning point in her life, as she eventually developed bipolar disorder because of it. Now, she didn't blame her rebellious nature, or the massive drug use she did as a teen as the reason for her mental illness, but rape, in which her bf at the time forced himself on her before she was ready. As she described it to me, it also wasn't violent, she just gave in, and because of this, she used this victim mentality as an excuse to binge in drugs, and be reckless with her life.
When I first met her, I felt really bad for her, but, the more I thought about it, the more I felt that she only felt that way because society sorta exaggerates the impact of rape on a woman.
So it's like a "you feel this way, because everone is telling you you're supposed to feel like a helpless victim."
For example, men are raped in prison all the time, much more violently (and painfully) than what I described, yet many if them just cope with it, and move on.
Women were raped throughout history all the time, and the worst part was having a child from that person, some random knight or raider, not "muh feels."
It's just my thoughts, and especially when you think of Rape Culture... we live in a society in which rape is seen as worse than murder, when in fact, most rape cases are something a person should be able to shrug off and move on from.
I'm not justifying rape mind you. Nor am I saying people should do this, but I do think people overplay and exaggerate the impact it has on a person, and this very thing in fact causes MORE problems for the victim than otherwise.

As for women, I disagree. They're emotional for sure, but not weaker emotionally.

When 18 I started to learn to play piano by myself, on the third day I was already very comfortable with both hands and knew how to play some 3 or 4 songs of medium difficulty. Won state level chess championships and know 7 languages. Have a number of other achievements to be proud of.
What should I do about my life? Despite all this I live an average life. It's like I'm a big fish in a small pound.

Why are girls the ones doing the approaching these days?
At least for me that seems to be the case now. Whether it's just a friends thing, or it leads to some dates (sometimes with me being asked out), girls are lot more forward and direct. And even if they're not the ones making the move, they're still much warmer and approachable than before.
Strangely, though, it's usually girls in either the 18 - 22 age group, or 27+; almost never in between (at least that I know of).

If a girl likes you and is interested she'll approach you. Just as a guy would approach a girl. It doesn't really matter who approaches who. There is no standard.
