don't use pvc

if somebody decides to replace your water with napalm and lights your irrigation system on fire you'll be breathing chlorine gas, that's the reason why PVC is banned in a lot of countries for certain applications.

Hey /diy/ I was wondering if you could help me with a project. I am trying to sew a long dress that has long sleeves and a hood that can be pulled down and around the shoulders.

This isn't my first rodeo with sewing so I know how to make the dress part but I'm stuck on how to work with the hood. Pictures will be posted of the style hood I am trying to achieve.

I'm trying to work on my Halloween costume early this year. I tried looking up other tutorials for this but I could find any.

Also, if anyone has any other sewing related questions,...

Have a finished attic and it really cooks up there when it gets hot outside. There is one window, but it doesn't do much good since the doorway is closed to keep pets out.

I'd like to somehow add a screen door or at least a frame, so a large fan can be used to draw out the hot air.

Just happen to have an old metal one lying around, plus some new hinges, although they weren't meant for that.

Would it just be easier to remove the door while it's hot and replace it with the screen door? I'd rather not have to do that....but will do some measuring.

>>1011032
Its a screen door. Just put it on the other side of the frame like you would any screen door.
>>
>>1011032

why would you want to draw that air into the rest of the house?

Would adding an air return in the attic to your furnace and adding a window AC unit make things considerably more comfortable? This the route I went even with two windows open and the stair door wide open there wasn't any noticeable change.
>>
>>1011039
i imagine he's going to put a fan in the window. he needs the screen to put in the door to the house so he can suck the house air into the attic room.

Hey guys, I've just been given an Audio Technica AT8033 Condenser mic and i don't have a mounting arm yet. I need a temporary one for now just to stand it up on my desk. Any suggestions?

It really depends on what you've got around your house, I could give a thousand suggestions but if you don't have the junk then it doesn't really matter.

I used an old ikea lamp that was stiffened up with a steel ruler and then g clamped to my desk before I bought a cheap desk boom stand for my AT2020. If you've got any scrap wood around you could easily nigger rig something up with that, anything that's stiff enough to hold it up really, could just duck/duct tape it to the top of a...

Strangely enough, I just tried the bottle rig and it's working quite well. Who needs a real boom stand??
>>
>>1010961
Yeah I used my lamp stand for a good few months, but the proper stand I'm using now is definitely making life easier, just to get it out of the way when not using it or slight adjustments to the height if I change my sitting position. Still using my nigger rigged pop filter though, metal coat hanger bent into a circle with a couple of those stocking socks wrapped over it.

Everyone tells me it's not possible. Shelling out 1100$ for new tank isn't an option either.

I cant believe no company has developed a compound to work with this, but now it seems that everything either doesn't stick to nylon, doesn't hold up to gas or becomes brittle when cured.

Pic. related, the hole. Seems like someone had used epoxy or tried welding it before and it all came out like shattered pieces of glass, leaving me with this 3mm gap.

Also. It's a far end of the gas tank, virtually unreachable from the inside which makes...

hey /diy/

I'm an industrial designer.
I need 3d printed parts now and then.
small stuff mostly.
I have a friend at a local printing company and get a fair bit of discount.
the prices are quite high though.

a bod of mine had something milled in china and just picked it up when he was there on vacation (good timing).
it was stupid cheap and they even did a good job.

can I print overseas for cheap ?
google just redirects me to makerspaces in china and all that.

would it even make sense or are the material and energ costs for sls...

Sure. Can you ship it from overseas for cheap? Not unless you don't mind getting it 2 months later.
>>
How much printing do you do and what quality does it need to be? Its not that hard to learn and you can get used Makerbots/Ultimakers on the cheap. Additionally, if you need to print parts that are harder wearing then look into a second hand Stratasys Uprint.
>>
>>1010888

thats the point , I don't mind mostly.
If I need something quick I need to pay for that.

but something just need to be done with much of a deadline.

Hello people of /diy/,

I plan on making a game over the next couple of days but don't know which engine/platform I should use.

I want to make the game in 2D, so unreal 4 would be a little overkill. The issue is that I don't want to use something that's too light and end up making the entire thing from scratch.

I'm ok on Java but don't want to mess with LWJGL.

What would you guys recommend?

Pic is what the game would be called

Anybody have some good ideas for framing large pictures? I have some large maps that I want framed, but a friend of mine told me that getting custom frames at an art store like Michael's is really expensive.

What's a good way to build my own frame?

Did you google it? Theres quite a bit of information. You will probably need a set of these for a start.
>>
Sorry, m8. If you want a good way to build a frame, you gotta learn to frame like someone who's paid to do so. It's not difficult per se, but you're essentially paying for the cost of materials (bought wholesale), power tools & carpentry hardware (+ labor, which allows the framer to eat every now and then) when you go to Michael's or to anyone else for that matter. However, you can probably luck out by finding someone else, who isn't big box corporation, to do it, e.g. art gallery, local artist interest group, etc.

But if you got a miter saw...

It's all down to what sort of frame you want, thin frame or one with a lot of detail will be harder to make, a frame that is a little chunkier or more "rustic" less so, go check out YT for vids.

Also check junk shops and thrift stores, they often sell shitty pictures in great frames for pocket change, just buy it and put you picture in there instead.

Hey folks, I'm restoring my bathroom at the moment including a brand new walk in shower.

I was in the store today and saw pebble tiles - never heard about them before - and I wanted to ask you, if anyone knows:

- How do they "feel" at your feet? Are they uncomfortable when you stand on them barefeet for like ten minutes?

- are the grouts (is that the word?) harder to clean than with regular tiles?

- Being natural pebbles, do I have to seal them with anything?

Thanks in advance guys

I like em. The girlfriend does not.

>are the grouts (is that the word?) harder to clean than with regular tiles?
Grout. No S. I just use some spray on cleaner after every shower.

>Being natural pebbles, do I have to seal them with anything?
The brand I used didn't use real natural pebbles. They were standard ceramic tile materials made to look like pebbles. So, YMMV.
>>
>>1010536
>I just use some spray on cleaner after every shower.

so basically the same as with regular tiles?! Sounds easy

Well, I guess they are natural pebbles since they all have different colors and look and feel like real pebbles. Guess I'll have to ask the store clerk about that.

In personally think that they look just tits - much better than any tile I saw
>>
>>1010535
Why not just buy some loose pebbles and make fill your shower bottom with them about 4 inches deep?

Hey /diy, I wanted to ask for a little check-up on a circut I drew here.
It is supposed to be an autonomous igniter for fireworks triggered by PIR sensor (like when one enters a room, fireworks automatically go off). A 10 ohm resistor is supposed to be burned and what worries me is the possibility of short circut and IC burning.
Would that thing work?

I don't see the need for the 30 amp fuse, your wires are gonna burn before that fuse goes.

the only thing that is problematic is that you've got your mosfet on backwards.

I haven't used an attiny yet so I can't comment on that.
