Take a wave and make it really tiny, like really.

There's no way you can make a microwave without acquiring the main components, like the magnetron, transformer and the metal case, and at that point it's probably wiser to buy one rather than to nigger rig it together.

Maybe EVA foam or wood would be your best bet
>>
>>991788
have a long central core of pvc pipe or a metal pipe. Buy carvable foam. Something that can be sanded. cut it and stack it on the central core so that there is equal amounts of foam on all sides and the pipe is in the middle. Now start carving and sanding till you got the cone shape then carve and sand till you get the spiral. Lathe the handle out of wood or something.

If you want it to light up, there will be a whole different process which requires some thought but it is definitely possible. All you need is...

Hi /DIY/

I'm looking at doing my first serious /DIY/ project and am hoping for a bit of advice. The project will be making an EDC tool a bit like pic related ( hunting knife from Benchmade ) but with a glassbreaker instead of a guthook, a 2.49 inch Wharncliffe blade and ( not that there is a huge difference ) a strap cutter instead of a gut hook.

I've been looking for a nice rescue tool I could carry with my daily but have yet to find one, pic related was the closest I could find to what I wanted. I'd like to design this with dymondwood instead of...

Bears and Cubs are only on the buses in Chicago.

Jokes aside; a lot of knives have glass-breakers and/or gut hooks/strap cutters but I've yet to see one that looks anything like a gentleman's knife. That is what I'm going for and I just need a bit of help with learning how to design something like that.

draw up your blades, frame, and scales

>cannot have thumb studs ( I'm thinking nail knicks, holes like Spyderco or a flipper ) nor can it be automatic. I also can't have the blade(s) lock

because of the wharncliffe blade youll have a pretty straight hadle, and i believe a flipper will be in the way. I suggest you include a spyderco style opening hole. Are you going to use a ball bearing detente to keep the blades open?

137 KB,
For the entire time that I've been interested in electronics, I've heard that the Arduino Uno is for prototyping. Well, I have made my project and coded it for the Arduino Uno. How the fuck do I make it smaller, though? I tried to use an Adafruit Trinket, but my code wasn't compatible.

I'm trying to build a music box for my friend. I'm using the "Playtunes" library and it works like a charm. It sounds great and it is simple as fuck to use.

How do I lower the form factor without having to change my code? Is there a way?

Or get a smaller board that has the pins you need... Arduino nano is my usual choice. Arduino pro is a bit smaller since no USB on it.

every time a local guy moves his bees to a lot near me. I see a huge increase in horse flies.. and the closer to the hives I get, the more horse flies seem to be hanging around?

Im trying to use my prusa i3 to print a quadcopter:

http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:511668

or at least as big as that, the problem is that althought the bed is in ,theory 200x200mm it actually is more like 190x190 but not from the bed itself but the Y belt.

So even if I download the sorter version I still need like those 10 mm in the Y axis to print it.

I thought about taking out a little the rods of the Y axis but that would mean a lot of adjustments later and if I don't do it carefully...

i would suggest against printing a quad frame

the first time you'll crash it will disintegrate, and you will crash it since its a 200 sized quad
you'd be better off buying a $15 frame off HK
>>
>>981045

but one of the points of 3d printing is about replication and redundancy, right? I mean, if it breaks I don't have to wait to some chinese sweatshop to make it for me, I could even carry spare parts that extend beyond some screws and batteries...

If I rely on online shops, whats the point then?

And anyway, I'm still losing 10 mm, this can actually be more important than a quadcopter since what is actually happening is that I can print all the designs that assume that I have a commercial-like...

15 KB,
So I want to make a light bar for my pickup.

My plan is to get 25 of those Chinese 100w leds and put them in a row. Attach the plastic dome lenses to the front to focus them. And that's as far as I got.

For this application, will I need to water-cool the LEDs?
After all it is 2500 watts or so I have the cool.

Should I bring in 120v and convert down at the LED to reduce wire size? Or just use big wires and buss bars?

Any experience with the cheapest of all 100w leds? They are probably all rejects, but they will still work sans 1 or 2 elements...

This will be expensive. Probably about $30-50 per pair if you can find a novice to do it.

75 KB,
So it's building time!

I decided to start building a house. For that you need an architect. I wonder if I'm alone with my frustration (rage?) in hte fdact that architects don't seem to care about my scetches. I drew both the house and the garage in 3D, with quite some detail. Immediately when they got their hands oon the plans trhey needed to start adding windows, changing measurements and shit!
After the first architect was so slow and didn't listen to our ideas (didn't look at the original plans) we changed the architect for the garage. And...

>I want architects to follow MY DRAWING!!! EXACTLY!!!!!!
Why do you use an architect again?
>>
Architects are giant fucking con artists. I built a house this past year with bids between 8-14% of construction costs for a smallish 2000 sq ft house. Over 15,000$. Then I got lucky and found a draftsman who did all the same work, the building schedule prints etc, worked with an engineer all for 1200$. And built it exactly as I wanted. Architects are typical college educated pretentious middlemen offering no value whatsoever unless you have money to burn.
>>
>>993834
You're talking to an architect because he knows 3m is dumb for a garage door, eg you can't buy a cheap garage door to fit it, you will find it annoying to walk around and exciting to park in, or it may even be too narrow to be co sideres a garage by local housing authority so that .5m might take 70k off your resale value because now your house doesn't t have a garage

This same logic applies to Windows, closets, wedding caking your 2nd story so it doesn't look like a soviet housing project....
