There is absolutely NOTHING going on in this scene whatsoever. It's a lightsaber duel because it's the end of a Star Wars movie, you just gotta have one of those, right? The choreography is stale and dull as fuck.
end duel of Force Awakens is so much better because there's actual character development going on and the choreography reflects the personalities of those involved. It's not just a bunch of sterile highly choreographed swinging swords around

Darth Maul is a nothing character. He may as well have been a droid or a monster.
