/tg/ I need stats for pic related for a game of Edge of the Empire I'm running with a Mass Effect conversion.
Preferably for the ME3 incarnation for ease of use.
So, normal Troopers and Captains.
Not particularly fussed about Praetorians and Scions and Abominations just yet though.
I don't want to kill my party with extreme prejudice just yet.
Bump.
I've got equipment and the like covered, just need the stats.
>>45951368
What kind of stats do YOU think they should have?
Standard soldier stats with maybe some extra CON, short fly speed, and a limit break that raises all thier stats for a short duration.
Fluffed as the whole assuming direct control thing.
Planescape General and Q&A
Thread starter question: How would you use Limbo in a campaign and make it distinct from the somewhat similar Deep Ethereal (and, in the 5e cosmology, the even more similar Elemental Chaos)?
Discuss Planescape and the Great Wheel here, whether the original AD&D 2e version, the 3.X version, the 4e version (yes, it exists in 4e, down to the baernaloths, the yugoloths, the Heart of Darkness, Maeldur et Kavurik, Tenebrous, Pelion, and the Last Word all being canon as of Dragon #417), the 5e version, or your own original blend.
I...

I wouldn't use the Elemental Chaos, because I think that was a terrible decision and the old Planar Cosmology worked a lot better.
Hell, throwing the entire Great Wheel into the garbage can was one of the most annoying things about 4e for me.
>>45953876
4e had preserved a surprising amount of planar lore as pointed out in the opening post, but I understand your concerns regarding the Elemental Chaos.
How would you make Limbo distinct from the Deep Ethereal, then?
>>45953953
A lot more chaos and change, and a lot more in the way of finished results/complicated structures. You're more likely to find trees and chunks of land/structures/buildings/natural environments in Limbo, and it's a lot easier to create things there (though they end up falling back into chaos a lot more quickly). It should also be clear that the place is chaotic, so descriptions should make note of the fact that the fire doesn't quite behave like real fire and so on.

Well, it's confirmed, me and some business partners are opening a store. Won't be able to do miniature war games due to store size constraints but we will be selling cards, RPGs and boardgames, plus accessories and some clothes and such.
So, what do you like to see in your FLGS? A members program? A specific layout of merch?

Oh, and it'll be in North Spokane, WA, fyi. Image semi-related.

Remember MTG will probably be your biggest customers. Have a tournament regularly scheduled.
I say that as a 40k player.
>>45951028
You should call the store "Closing in Six Months."

If thats your floorplan? Add a jackass bar to the front entry, so that someone who runs in and grabs stuff has to vault it or flip on his head like a retard on the way out. It helps minimize theft by making it more inconvenient.
Also, a camera pointed at faces on the way in that takes shots would be a great deterrent as well; "Smile, youre being filmed for security purposes!"
Hello /tg,
So, I am in the process of creating a very powerful lich for my current campaign.
The catch? He isn't evil. Well, not exactly.
The lich( Who will be named Heri,) Has immense power, but constantly flubs his spells and plans. Though he is a lich, a neigh undying beacon of undead magical power, he has a... less that secure grasp on the actual ancedotes of magic and spellcasting. as well, he usually acts in a very sociable and fun, yet absentminded manner. (Picture if Goofy stole Mickey's hat and ascended to lich hood)
As one could imagine,...

What are some key ways psionics should differ from other forms of magic? Crunchwise I mean.
What can psionic do that regular magic can't? What can magic do that psionics can't?
One of the very few things I ever liked about an oft touted, Generic rpg, was that psionics were very subtle and took no energy, but the effects were nothing to write home about. Meanwhile magic was big and flashy and powerful, but could quickly leave a mage helpless from exhaustion.
Be balanced.
>>45950740
They shouldn't differ, they should just be a branch of magic revolving around mental effects.
Am I a bad GM if I intentionally set up an encounter that has a disproportionately high chance of killing a specific party member because I want them dead for narrative reasons?
Their death also explains the player's absence during a four week holiday he'll be on. And his current character is shit. I believe he'd be better suited to playing his backup.
>>45950072
If the player's cool with it, do it.
>>45950201
All of the players are fine with the concept of losing characters, which is why they all made backups at the beginning of the campaign. This would just be me stacking the odds in my favour.
Just make sure the odds are stacked against them but don't force the bad end if they somehow get through whatever ordeal you have planned.
Welcome one, and I welcome you all to the tale of a world called Thespia.
Here is the odyssey of one that clings to this world with no face of their own! In a place where magic is fundamental to all of creation, all who live wear their lives upon their face, where a fire might wish to be the cooking fire of an inn!
The Faceless overcame the tyrant lord of Bikel, Stephan Grant, son of Mikael Grant. Thus, while wearing the face of the vengeful spirit "The Reaper of Aurel" otherwise known as Dramir, a story in the world of Thespia comes to an end as a hero...

The inky black of Luna's swirling night wraps and weaves against an unexpected intruder in the dark woods of the Pruden wood. A glowing, ravaging invader that bakes and pops the flesh of a great old tree, its cries heard long and far as it burns on, the flames bound and contained firmly to the confines of its being. They rage on, furious and persistent without any regard to the tree's cries.
You clutch your ears at its screams, your heart unable to bear the sad cry of the tree. “Please stop...” You and Belinda say. “Stop burning... Please...” You both...

Alright guys, i have no idea what to do here. I'm running a 3 session campaign and i invited along my normal group, and since I'm constantly trying to improve i let in a few more players (to see how well i could handle 8 adventurers rather than 5) and it just so happens 8 other people wanted to be in a game, i dint mind since this wouldn't last longer than three sessions.
so this is where it goes wrong, with a party of 8 you can plan strategic encounters the enemies use strategy to fight since they don't have numbers, an if need be i could throw like...

ya done goofed
this, all of this is fucked.
what experience do you guys have with large encounters?
>>45948595
Well you could just go along with it. Switch up major battles to be army vs medium group/summons. Might take longer but it'd be cool to do a big-ass war. Try and manage it to where they'd be low on man power by the time the last few guys show up.
So, I'm trying to get back into MtG, but I haven't played since my teenage years. And frankly, I wasn't all that familiar with the rules at the time, especially a lot of the special abilities found on some cards.
I was wondering if starting out by buying a prebuilt deck on eBay is a good idea. I don't know if I can just grab a deck like this and start playing at my local comic book store, because the guys there might be much more invested in MtG than I am. None of the cards included in these prebuilt decks seem particularly rare or valuable.
Here's one of the decks I was thinking about buying:
>Creatures:
Terra Stomper x3
Garruk's Packleader x3
Swordwise Centaur x4
Voyaging Satyr x4
Shaman of Spring x4
Elvish Mystic x4
Charging Rhino x4
Centaur Courser x3
>Spells:
Time to Feed x4
Titanic Growth x4
>Land
Forest x23
>Sideboard:
Reclamation Sage x3
Satyr Grovedancer x3
Satyr Wayfinder x4
Guardians of Meletis x1
Market Festival x1
Does this seem like a good place to start? I guess I could always hunt down specific cards to add to the deck if that might give me more a competitive edge. I really just want to play for fun, but there's no sense in stepping up to a table without a chance in hell of ever winning a match.
>>45948040
It depends entirely on what kind of people you plan on playing against.
You could take the deck above and if you have people at a similar powerlevel to yourself and it would be a ton of fun to play with.
However, if you were to take the above list to a random FNM and ask for a game, you would probably lose 9/10 games, and the games you win would probably be because your opponent got mana screwed. It's simply too weak, there are no particularely strong synergies that give you an edge, you just play...

I'm not sure I want to drop $50 on a deck. This may not be a suitable hobby for me after all. I mean, if it's pay-to-win, where's the fun in that?
I was kind of hoping there was a more casual scene with this game.
>And another question, how much is the person asking for the deck you posted?
$10
>>45948379
Nice guy.
You guys got any suggestions for a good rules-light version of Shadowrun or CP2020?
It has to be specific to cyberpunk, FAE and other stuff is fine but that's not what I'm looking for here.
>>45947721
Bump for interest. Also, does anyone have ideas/names for a utility corporation? They're not evil but more like business is business. You do good for them and they do good for you.
>>45947721
Im gonna run my first game of technoir tomorrow. That sounds pretty much eactly like what your looking for. But it also is Lore-Light s in, it has almost no lore at all. so you might wanna combine the system with an already existing lore. (like I was thinking about the netrunner one)

I thought his habit of explicitly basing parts of Discworld off our reality wasn't as funny as he thought it was.
Nor did I like his pushing of multiculturalism and multiethnic cities and their alleged "advantages".
That out of the way, his comedy could be pretty good; I remember the creation of the platypus in his novel about Fourecks.

Good evening /tg/, I come to you with a personal problem. You see I have an addiction, an addiction for rolling up character's completely randomly
By this I mean rolling for everything
stats straight down the line
Class *rolled until I get something the stats I have will allow me to be a somewhat functioning member of the party*
race
gender
various appearance traits
Even alignment
But today I realized something
this does not make suitably random and fleshed out characters
for I am lacking charts for
Personality
anguishes
flaws
bigotry
hatreds
mental disorders
fetishes
as well as many other things
So I'd like a set of tables to use for this to scratch this itch
and if you're wondering, no I don't do this all the time, I do it when I'm bored, I've often rolled up five characters in such away, but I do not rely solely on this to make characters
I just do it when I have nothing better to do
So if there are no tables for this
lets try to make some, shall we?
or not
I got something for you OP.
It doesn't do backstory, but it gives you a personality for your character to work with, and with some creativity you can create really cool and unique character minds from seemingly unrelated or conflicting emotions. It also accounts for the fact that even villains have redeeming traits and even heroes have flaws.

On the dusty outskirts of a desert city, a tender exchange. He hangs off the side of his trucker cab, one hand already inside, long brown hair billowing in the wind. She stands before him in a powder blue dress that matches her eyes. “How can I ever repay you?”
He smiles, slides a massive knuckle down the contour of her...
