You always liked your right eye. You wouldn't necessarily say it was your favourite, but it was certainly up there in the top two. Now, though, you're just glad you're not near any kind of mirror.
Faced with the stuff of nightmares, it was only the product of sheer chance that left you with one intact eye. Had you clawed just a little deeper, digging your fingers that little harder into your own flesh, you would have been left with an empty socket rather than just the seeping wounds you have instead. They ache and sting, burning bars of pain into your mind as you walk, but the simple fact that you CAN still see is somehow soothing. You can see, and you haven't lost your mind.
Not completely, at least. You're honest enough to realise that your encounter here, in the deepest part of the mines, came very close to pushing you over the edge. All this, everything that occurred here in Pit Progress, was due to an anomaly, a god that should never have existed.
A god that doesn't exist, now. You saw to that.
>>45984028
As you're pressing on towards the surface, struggling against the pain and fatigue that weighs down your body, you notice something odd. The miners have vanished, the open rock they had been slaving away at left abandoned and deserted. You couldn't say why – in the time it takes you to walk a dozen paces, you've considered just as many ideas. A prisoner revolt, perhaps, or a violent purge on Kurasu's orders. Maybe there is no deeper meaning – the convicts have merely been taken back to their cells for now, to keep them under guard.
It hardly matters. Pausing only to tear off a long strip of fabric from your shirt and bandage your head – more to hide the grotesque wound than anything else – you march on. When you hear some small sign of life – footsteps, coming from the entrance of the mines – you slow your pace and ease your pistol from the holster. Better safe than sorry. The scurrying figure that emerges, though, is no threat to you. The young guard that led you here, looking as nervous and harried as the first time you saw him.
“You!” he cries, “You're... alive? I was expecting-”
What, you ask as he falls into a deliberate silence, he was expecting to run across your body down here? The fact that he can't answer, or even meet your eye, is all the confirmation you need. Sighing, you prepare to push past him.
“Wait,” he insists, “I was told... if you were alive, if I could find you alive, Kurasu requested a moment of your time.”
Requested, you repeat, not demanded or ordered?
“I think, uh...” the young guard falters, “I think he's realised how bad things are, here. The townsfolk, also, sent up a representative. Both sides feel negotiations might go more smoothly if you're there.”
Maybe, just maybe, you can salvage something from this mess.

What happens next?
Absolutly nothing, just let the party drive themself insane looking for something to happen.
We unload the barrel of ale we have stored on our party cart, sit around the fire drinking ale and talking about stories from our character backgrounds.
The innkeeper is actually a murderess and a religious fanatic. If any of the party belong to a religion other than her own, she will attempt to kill them either through poisoning or in their sleep.

Dear /tg/,
I'm starting a new campaign in a few weeks and I'm very excited because I'm finally bringing my group out of the monotonous deathtrap that is pseudo-medieval-european fantasy setting and into some science fantasy. But I have something I wanted to get some feedback on, the money.
I'm running a homebrew that is mostly 5e with some D20 modern thrown in, and since my setting uses all electronig money I was thinking about just using the wealth check rules as written in the D20 core rulebook, but does anyone have anything else that would work? It's a fine money system, but something about it just seem, I dunno like it's just not as fun having a generic "weatlh amount" as knowing you have XX GP. So I just want to know what other options exist as far as in game economies go?
If it helps, my PCs are people who did have lives so they would have bank account and such, but they are also criminals and the set up will have them on the run from the law, so they probably won't have access to them.
>Economy of the Future
Hmm...
Depends how far into the future we're talking, but I'm sure monetary value would probably be placed on how rare certain elements are to that group of people.
For example a substantial quantity of diamond would be worth less than a small pinch of astatine.
A person's "bank account" would show not a simple figure of currency but instead the various amounts of differing elements they possess.
Have the currency being "work hour". One work hour being index to the pay that someone working on minimum pay menial job will receive for one hour worked. The more specialised and in demand your line of work is, the higher "work hour to actual hour ratio" pay rate you receive.
Payment is all via online banking, with individuals each have a card issued by banks keyed to their DNA and uniquely identifiable information. POS machines will read the card AND require biometric information to ensure that the person is present AND not under duress at the point of payment. That way your money can never be stolen or be robbed.

Welp the fucking economy is going to be the least of your problems.
so i was looking at different versions of were wolf (and mafia and so on)
what are you thoughts on the best one ?
im looking for a good one for a big group
i also heard that the game has no copy right so anyone can make and sell there own version

Also Secret Meme Hitler is fun (max 8 people though.)

was looking for something for like 20
otherwise for less than 8 "one night werewolf" looked cool

OK, for around 20 people I'd say Mafia is a bit too heavy, because one guy just sits there after the first assassination to the end of the game.

Silence.
The death of Rust Kaiser is an abrupt thing, an impossible truth made manifest. Between one heartbeat and the next - Between the charging of the Singularity Cannon, the last wisps drawn into the yawning abyss - the world begins to move again.
Light returns, first. Not the sickly light of Alura's inferno, or CHERNOBOG'S furious discharge; but true light, a harsh grey illumination like the exhalation of a metal god. It issues from the Memory Towers, all sharp-angled black iron and barbs, now - Crawling with power, jagged bolts of fitful lightning flickering across pitted surfaces.
Sound.
The *snap* and crackle of flames gutters out to nothing, choking smoke swirling in the air from the Thief's charred form. The rush of air from the Singularity Cannon's implosion has ripped the cloak of flames from his back; He lies sprawled, the fabric of his ragged coat melted into him - his armor is black upon him, and his bones are burned with heat. The gnawing flames have turned his legs to ash, stripped the writhing muscle from his borrowed arm - Skeletal fingers rattling as they grip the Fatal Abyss's blackened hilt.
The red pinpoints in his helm are flames, as - methodically, static hissing from his speaker-mask - he reaches into his charred coat with a shaking hand, withdrawing injector vials. The adamant needles crowning the clear cylinders glitter dully, in the failing light - Within the heavy glass, raw Lachryma rills, churning in constant motion...

There is a gagging, choking roar. ANIMA reels back, that hellish half-real black shape swirling and re-forming. Rotten gore spurts, as those great claws rake at itself - puncturing eyes, gouging new wounds, that vast maw swinging back and forth in frenetic motion. The Cryptid convulses, with frantic inner motion - it sounds like it is choking, gagging on flesh. Tumors bulge beneath the surface of the horror's leathery carapace, sickly wet sounds spewing forth-
The virus. It swallowed Distortion Haze's virus.
The creature's jaws hinge out, wide - A tooth-fringed opening like a chapel cave. Not swinging open to bite - They're swinging open because of the grotesque growth of muscle, of teeth, those jagged needle-fangs spearing into the Cryptid's palate. It *howls*, hard enough to made the air judder, the vast tonnage of its bulk grinding and scraping off the tiled floor. Noxious white froth spews forth, a great torrent of rank effluvium - Slitted eyes rolling in frantic agony, head smashing down hard enough to crack the ground underfoot, mere inches from Haze-
"Choke on it," Haze snarls, his free hand clutching the jagged stump of his severed arm. ANIMA reels, roaring and squealing and shrieking, torturing nerves sending contradictory messages through the Cryptid's unnatural form. It tries rising, but every inch of the vast predator's corded flesh is in open rebellion, muscles spasming and limbs twitching, thick bloody sludge vomiting forth from every orifice as it jerks and twitches and wails-
(Continued)

The Cryptid is dying. The creature's flesh is already festering, already swelling, like the soft, expanding rind of a rotting fruit, about to burst with decay. Stinking yellow mucus oozes from the Cryptid's maw, every hissing breath fighting the sickening growth of the biological weapon it's swallowed-
-It knows. It knows what Haze has done to it. One vast sickle-clawed limb swings up, even as blood-blisters erupt across the surface, throwing a mutating shadow across his half-collapsed form, ready to wipe him from the face of the earth-
"Joker-" A voice, across the channel. A pained rasp, a sound of utter and helpless hatred. Less than a whisper, now-
Rook.
"Joker-"
There is a glow, beneath the fleshmetal carapace of his mutated armor. The *clack* of magnetic locks releasing, the sharp *chunk* of pistons firing. Like the spinner in a child's game, Rook's falchion skids across the floor towards you; His talons scrabbling against the ground, fighting for purchase, every instinct telling him to reel to his feet, to *fight*-
-But this is all he can do.
"-K̛͉̞̫̮ill ̙̳̝͓͇i̫̪t̬̹͕̼. *̨͍̣̙̬̭͈H͖̬͉̳̜̘͇ur͢t͏̥̹̞̞̟̙ͅ*̨͇̘͍͕ͅ ̢h̻̗̭e̛r̝̗̤.͇̱͙̠͡"

yeah i know "invincible plate" "lighter than chain"
If we take dexterity into account , the chances for the target to move with a hit and dont have to deal with nearly as much damage are still quite high in our system (up to 50% if you got the armor skill)
(regular plate is considered rather heavy (in physical weight) in our system because you usually wear chain and/or gambeson underneath it)
Half-plate. Just cover the major areas in armor, let everything else be loose and flexible.
All armour and weapons developed for an specific situation.
Plate armour is amazing if you are charging peasants while mounted in your war horse. Fighting on foot with a plate armour is suicide... you will be too slow to hit your enemies and hammers / maces will crush the armour with you inside.

I've never played anything other than a pure melee class. Would sorcerer + eldritch knight be a good way to ease my way into magic casters? Other than 1 level of something like ranger to give myself martial weapons proficiency, what else would I put into that sort of character?

There are so many memes in this post I am surprised you didn't apply the name "ebin".
I just started playing D&D with some veterans. Something that I don't like about the game these guys play is the elaborate, almost ridiculous, stories that they want to play, with massive backstories and characters that all the players know from their past ect. I just want to go on a simple adventure. I don't want love interests, or having to deal with emotional bullshit from my past, or confront my parents etc. Is this normally how people play D&D? Long sessions of just weird psychological bullshit? I really feel like quitting now.
They've already done simple adventures because they've been playing so long. They want to keep it fresh because that's how they have fun too. If you're going to be a drag find a newbie group.
Why don't you be honest and talk to them about it. Explaining what you want to see out of the game.
Maybe the answer is a different group, but they could also be willing to accommodate your play style as well.

>I just want to go on a simple adventure. I don't want love interests, or having to deal with emotional bullshit from my past, or confront my parents etc.
Then roleplay it, mongoloid. Make your character an all-business hothead who doesn't give a shit about bloodlines or honor and just wants to do stuff. Make him impatient and brash. Have him constantly interrupt morons trying to tell you their whole life story. In-character openly mock the ridiculousness in a nasty way. Go to 11 with it.
Make your fun. If that doesn't work then you can leave.
I was talking to my friend about battle fleet gothic and I got an idea,
What if the Orkz built a battle ship that had absurd armor in front and every gun they could get their hands on pointing behind it. Could they have a ship literally propelled buy perpetual gunfire (assuming they believed really hard)?
Anything in front would be rammed by what amounts to an angry meteor, any thing behind receives enough Dakka to push a small planet out of orbit.

Welcome to old school D&D.
>>45977990
Wizards are actually more powerful as you progress. The hardest part of the game is the first 4 or 5 hours (yes, the wolves are ridiculous). The game rewards you for thinking, so if you want to get through it, be careful and actually think.

Didn't know about this guy.
I always figured they'd be too distracted by the WAAAGH! and warpyness to really lead a bunch of Orks.
Can we have a book recommendation thread? To keep it /TG/ related I figure it could be for books that will inspire good roleplay campaigns.
I want a new fantasy series to read but I don't know if what I'm looking for exists. I really enjoy the Xanth series and have been looking for something like it because I like the following two things:
A diverse world. Xanth has a mix of every mythological, fantasy, etc creature even some hybrids that have not been used that much before. Centaurs, brass people, rocs, mermaids, Naga, ogres, nymphs, demons, etc. I like that each new story has interesting magical creatures often with their own little culture and abilities.
A light-hearted atmosphere. Most Xanth stories don't feel too stressful even if some of them have end of the world scenarios. Generally they're just easygoing quests that feel like seeing a fantasy world in a travel show. I enjoy having something comfy to read and Xanth is so easy to read with stories that are very digestible (besides some of the author's perversions but I'm good at ignoring that).
If I find a series that is light then it's usually just a Tolkien copy world without a lot of other fantasy elements or creatures.
If I find a series with a world full of strange creatures and elements it is usually some sort of dramatic tale about vanquishing evil.
So if anyone has a suggestion I'd appreciate it. I know lit is technically the proper place but I don't think this thread will have the right audience there and I figure people can still use this to discuss book worlds that were good in inspiring games they played.
>>45975960
Do you also like child porn or what
>>45975991
I get it bait.jpg but I'd really like something light in a fantasy setting with lots of monsters and magic that isn't just another world with elves dwarves and orcs and a big bad evil at the end to defeat.
Just a dude or a few people traveling around a unmapped land having adventures would be nice.
