A typical adult has 40 skill points. If you're playing students, typical students start with 5 points and gain 5 more for each completed school year. You can't apply more than half of your points to a single skill, the rest is free assignment.
Most things are resolved using skill rolls, which is normally 3d6 + skill + situational modifiers. Your GM has to make up the difficulties because this is a quick rules-light system, cut me some slack. I recommend making most difficulties low, because this is Harry...

How good would Horus Heresy be as a movie?
Would catapaulting the franchise into mainstream culture ruin the fanbase?
Was the Mortal Kombat movie good?
Was the DnD movie good?
Was the Warcraft movie good?
Movies have stopped being an art form and are now a source for either the grotesque or a means of capturing as much Jewgold as possible. A movie would be a horrible thing to create because it would be forced to be geared towards the masses, and the masses do not particularly like Messiah figures this day and age being any shade of white, in spite of the Emprah being Turkish.

Pretty lame, as it's too big even for a trilogy. It would have to be made so even someone who never heard of Warhammer before, would understand what and why is happening.
Maybe Horus Rising could make a good movie, but then we still didn't even scrape the main plot.

"So, what is it?" You ask, looking up at him.
"Near the end of the war we'd lost too many of our veteran Valkyries, with fewer and less to train and manage the new arrivals," Orek explains. "A Valkyrie's power grow over time, but time was something we did not have. So, we looked for other options. Something to speed the process along, so to speak. The best idea we came upon were these."
"Self-contained energy, held within the stone," Sigmund notes, fluttering down to the table between the two of you. "Clever."
"That's right," Orek nods. "Our most elder and powerful Valkyries diverted a portion of their power, with the help of those like myself, to store energy for upcoming recruits. I have no real estimate of how many we produced, but I know the majority were used, with much of the remainder destroyed by the Allies. They worked as a mild booster to the abilities of new Valkyries, allowing for quicker mastery of their skills."
