I'm running a star wars campaign set after the fall of the Jedi Order, around the time of the height of the Empire. One of my characters wants to play as a force sensitive and I'm not sure how to go about it. If they want a lightsaber later on, do I give them an opportunity to give them one? Should I let them play as a force sensitive at all? What's the best way to go about this?
>>45962328
give them an opportunity to get one*
>>45962328
I wouldn't have a problem with it. Just make sure your player knows how dangerous it is to be force sensitive and difficult it would be to find even a hint as to how to build a lightsaber, let alone someone to train you to use it.
>>45962328
Make them travel to Utapau and during the session have one of the players find one of Grevious old saber(s) from his fight with Obi-Wan
You are Tsukuda Ryouta, a Shinigami of the 12th Division with the unique position of an investigator of abnormal occurrences.
Kirino Moeka, the Shinigami you've worked together with during your mission in Germany, has asked you for help in returning the money she was scammed out of a few years ago. There's a high chance that the girl was tricked by a criminal group you have relations and influence with, so the ease of solution serves as largely the only reason you've decided to help her in this almost entirely self-inflicted crisis. Victims of crimes shouldn't be blamed, but perhaps in Kirino Moeka's case, it could have at least served as a valuable lesson in life.
Well, you doubt it would have taught her anything. Moeka doesn't even seem to understand why she's no longer trusted with any important duties after your mission together. Perhaps even in the current situation, assigning any blame to herself is the last thing on her mind. She might be thinking something along the lines of: 'the criminals were the ones who scammed me, so it's their fault entirely, and I've done nothing wrong by trusting strangers'.
Her obliviousness and incompetence are honestly rather worrying, not just in regards to herself, but to the people around her. You wonder if Hikari, Moeka's supposed friend, is aware of her friend's shortcomings, and if she's doing anything to fix them. You can't say that you know Minami Hikari all that well, but it would be surprising if she was knowingly leaving it be. But if she is trying to teach Moeka and simply failing... it's also quite surprising, considering Hikari's abilities as a teacher.
Well, hopefully, once this is all over, Kirino Moeka won't be something you'll need to concern yourself with.
>>45962021
Thankfully, resolving her situation was as simple as you anticipated it to be. If this hadn't worked, you would have probably just given up and gone home. The people you spoke to were rather disgruntled by your demands; you didn't expect anything different - after all, you're asking them for money they've gotten years ago, and have obviously put to use by now. Even so, they complied. While your relationship with them has certainly soured, you don't think that any problems will come out of it. You don't plan on getting involved with these people ever again, after all.
You've rented a room in the First District of Western Rukongai. It was early morning when you left for the meeting. The redhead was still asleep then, her mouth agape and drooling, blanket thrown off to the floor.
When you return, she's awake, and you catch her in the process of dressing up, still in the pink underwear she had been wearing as she slept.
"Oh no~! Ryouta-kun, how inappropriate of you to barge into a maiden's room without even knocking~!" Moeka exclaims using a highly exaggerated, dramatic tone. She covers her voluptuous breasts with one arm and her crotch with the other, and then wiggles around in faux embarrassment, unable to hold back a smirk.
...

Zombie + Cyborg + Magic = ?
Cyberzombie? That's kinda already a thing in Shadowrun.
Should characters with low INT always be roleplayed as being stupid, or is it okay for a character to say and do smart things but be awful at skills that mechanically require intelligence?
I'd say it's fine to have some good ideas every now and then, but there's a limit where you are trying to negate a drawback to your character through roleplaying.
It's the same reason I get iffy when some guy has zero social skills but tries to roleplay himself as being more sociable and charismatic than his scores would suggest.
Consider language to be a technical skill.
Consider that int also determines how your character reasons, including higher concepts.
If low int is something like 8, those two elements can be here, or only one can be here, or none at all. So conversation could be a functionnal or even pleasant, as long as you don't go philosophical, put him outside his knowledge zone, or dump too much info on him in a short peroid of time.
If it's 2 int, howevr, I don't see any of those elements working, so yeah, retard speech (and logic).
More than grammatical errors, insist on limited vocabulary and short sentences.
>>45961733
So roleplay something no representative of their stats?
The low skill scores take care of themselves by mechanically representing low Int. If you're not going to roleplay stupid or dimwitted to show the more abstract side of the Int stat, why bother?

You are Kane Gerric, a Miralukan teen from the slums of Jerrist IV. Facing the prospect of starvation, you dragged your childhood friend on a foolish mission to rob the richest man on the planet. Narrowly escaping a horrible death, the pair of you have found yourselves stranded on the very highest landing pad of his palatial spire.
With your wits, a pair of stolen blasters and a power you can't understand, you must find a way to escape five hundred floors of the best security credits can buy, alive and intact. Oh, and it wouldn't hurt to 'liberate' a few trinkets along the way.
>Dice system is 3d10 against a fixed DC, counting the number of dice over to determine the level of success.
The last few rays of sun ebb from sight, fading below the lip of the landing platform. Heart pounding out of your chest, you tentatively approach the landing pad's access door. The hiss of the automatic door nearly causes you to jump out of your skin.
To your relief, there's nobody waiting for you behind it. Ahead lies the most fabulously opulent staircase you've ever seen. The floor is carpeted in some lush red fabric, so deep that your feet begin to sink as you tread downwards. The walls and ceiling are made from some pale white stone, threaded with golden veins that shimmer in the low light that emanates from crystals set into the walls at regular intervals. You reach out with your mind, trying to discern what lies ahead. A lobby of some kind, wide and round, with wide beds of lush foliage spread around the outside. Although your vision is hazy, there are three figures waiting at the far side of the lobby. Two are boxy, utilitarian, and armed with blaster rifles but the third shimmers like a silver statue. Droids, then. Beyond them, a pair of elevators are set into the wall - one golden filigreed, the other plain and unadorned. The silver figure seems to be berating the other two, fussily throwing its arms to and fro.
You turn to Choni. "There's three droids ahead. I think two of them are security, I don't know about the third. Should I blast them?" The Twi'lek looks grim. "Can't we sneak by? Or maybe we can talk them out of blasting us? I've worked with my dad's droids. They're pretty stupid."
You press your spare blaster into her hands. "Just in case, okay?"

>everyone's faces around the table when, eight sessions into what must be your twentieth campaign together, one of the players casually says all those years he's been imagining "gnomes" as wearing pointy hats unless stated otherwise

Do....Do all gnomes not wear pointy hats?
>>45961354
Sometimes they wear pointy helmets.
hey so, in my campaign the players are going to enter a Dracula like castle area, they're gonna have to scale it and reach the top for the final encounter with the bbeg. but i want this itself to take at least 2 sessions to just reach him, that sort of nearing the end struggle.
I've designed some of the rooms but I've run out of ideas, could some of you suggest any rooms or ideas for the castle?
Also i don't have the ravenloft setting book, would that be helpful to get for this sort of thing?
Currently the rooms i have are
-Dungeon
-Foray
-Dining room
-Courtyard
-Kitchen
-corpse pile (where the corpses are chucked once they're dry)
-Library
-Ball Room
-Maze
-Garden
-Chapel
-Throne Room
-Vault
-Alchemy Lab
But i don't feel like thats enough for this monstrous castle that should take multiple sessions to get through.
Ideas?
My bad, i meant to type Foyer not Foray
>>45961243
I assume you've read Castle Ravenloft. If not, you have homework.
>a cheesgame with death
-roof
-some kind of underground sea or
river
- a souvenir shop
-crematorium
-prison
-doghouse (with helldogs)
-an inside graveyard
-an oldschool cinema

Think back, what was the last thing I remember. I've stayed up late and worked on my masters, collecting statistics on yet a new concurrency technique. How long did I stay up again? Normally I'll crash long into the morning barely getting up by the time my alarm clock goes off. Today it seems I can't get my eyes up, normally I'd just stay in bed and tell myself 10 more minutes, but I'm pretty sure my eyes are up, I just can't see anything, well I can sense light so it's not like everything has gone dark. I can barely move my limbs, it feels like my movements are restricted, but it doesn't feel uncomfortable. Speaking of which, I feel sticky, not sticky like waking up sweaty during summer or going far too many days without showering, but really really sticky.
It doesn't make too much sense, maybe I'm still dreaming? I haven't had any lucid dreams since I was a kid, but this might be one.
I don't get the music either, or rather the base that is going off in random patterns, thinking of it, it's more as if there are multiple sources going off at different intervals. It feels distant but I've been hearing it for a while now, whatever it is, it feels like it's gradually getting closer.

There's a creak of a heavy door opening, someone's running on... stone floor?
"They'll be here any minute, are you done on your end?" Someone sounds exhausted... huh, wait a moment... that's not a language I recognize, yet I understand it perfectly
"The soul has settled. With the catalyst spent they should have little reason to risk further casualties, gold can settle this matter now. I will negotiate with Druzag, peasant knights are easy to deal with once they feel they have failed their sense of duty." He sounds pretty calm about things. I'm not sure what they are trying to settle, but going by the increased strength and proximity of the base I'm starting to suspect that I'm not listening to someone's poor choice of music.
"You may assist the supplicants shackle the mind, I'd prefer that you get it over with before it hatches. It's easier to drain memories when they are all docile."
Wait what! Shackle! Hatching? Am I inside a goddamn egg? It makes sense of why I'm constricted like this... But again, shackling? What the hell, are they talking about me, what are they going to do to me?

"Did you hear about the circus coming to town? They have something very special planned they say!"
And then i get to flipping through the book to see what manner of monster they got drugged and is going to start murdering people so the party can kill it and find out who released the beast.
Make up another story about a guy who feels wronged by his community and tries to sell it out to the outsiders. That seems to be the only thing I could come up with recently.
