Eeply to me here and we can talk from there.

Very experienced with the 40k systems (especially BC). Preference for heavy RPing games.

Is there a decent modern-ish system that gives the feel of old school Dungeon-crawling, but without the clunkiness of the retro games, and the meta-narrative fuckery mechanics that are in vogue with newer games like Dungeon World?
>>46163681
Stuff that might be worth looking at:
Streamlined simple retroclones, like LotFP
Barbarians of Lemuria
Torchbearer
Also b/x and becmi DnD are actually pretty simple, it's oDnD and AD&D (particularly 2nd ed) that have the clunky stuff.
>>46163793
>Torchbearer
I've actually been looking through Torchbearer. It's one half stuff I love (light mechanics, focus on survival/the grind and inventory management) and things that are a hard sell to me personally (highly formalized conflict resolution, the Winter Phase, any other of Burning Wheel's more esoteric rules and design choices)
>>46163681
Ask OSR general, this is pretty much all they talk about >>46138411
I'm looking for the thread about the shitty homebrew system that rolled to attract a buttload of zombies.
Also, wether fantasy, sci-fi or modern doesn't matter. Feed zombies to the zombie thread.

I think I found it

>>46163018
This is sick. Is this from the guy that does Screw-on head?
>>46163073
>basic lands are literally not viable in any format
What a time to be alive :(
As a Pauper player, I find this offensive.
My casual playgroup is saddened by this.
jesus christ /tg/
I think it looks better this way.
>>46161297
Preach it
>>46161373
I remember there was an even more concise one, with like six words total. That strip had literally no purpose other than a shitty setup to a lame joke.
>>46161373
The fuck is that last panel supposed to be?
I know it's a goldem, but why?
What kind of food does your GM prepare for you during games?
>>46161288
Micro-chips and megabytes. We play over skype.
That's a very nice antipasto platter, though.
>>46161288
In no particular order we have happy endulged in the following
Pepsi
Guinnes
Potato chips
Pizza
Blue candies
Lasagna
Brandy
Mountain dew
Chocolate cookies
Noodles
Rockstar energy drinks
Sprite
Popcorn
Gulash
Pudding
I don't recommend any of the foods with sauses or liquids. Theofilus, the God like sorcerer that manipulates the fabric of reality to save space and time from destruction, has pudding on him. We call it sorcerer pudding.
>>46161288
We normally just get pizza from a place down the street. It makes me incredibly sad.

A free messaging software. You can use it on your computer or on your phone. There's also a web app. Also it's going to be open source soon if you're a /g/ autist.

Come and shitpost about other people tastes, just like on /tg/. We have dices and hookers apparently.
Sorry, I don't want /tg/ spamming my phone and draining its battery with notifications.
I know, I can turn those off. I still don't want to bind my phone number to anything chan related

ITT: stories of the most skilled player you've ever had in your group.
I'll start.
>have qt blonde roommate
>she's never played D&D or any pnp rpg before
>think: "fuck it, I'll invite her to a game, she lives here so it's convenient"
>we play Labyrinth Lord, she rolls a thief
>don't expect her to survive first dungeon, which was Palace of the Silver PrincessComment too long. Click here to view the full text.
Stories that never happened, the thread

>blondie finds cloak and boots of elvenkind (gives utterly silent footsteps and 90% effective invisibility)
>uses them to great effect, ducking behind her followers
>subtly eggs on other players to take all the risks, staying out of harm's way
>other players die over, and over, and over again during our dungeon crawls
>she remains alive

I play the older editions because play isn't as boring and predictable as the new editions...maybe this shit isn't plausible these days but old school D&D is dramatic as fuck if you play it right.
Hi /tg/
I'm running a M:tG tournament on Thursday with 80% new players and monocolored Pauper decks
I don't want to lose time and fun over manaflood/screw
Should we use the "Force of Will ressources rule" to avoid that ?
What I call the "FoW ressources rule" is having two decks, one with only lands, the other with the nonlands card
For their first seven cards, they can draw seven cards in any combination of the two pile then, for the other draws in the game, choose to draw in one or the other pile

>Should we use the "Force of Will ressources rule" to avoid that ?
No. Enjoy your game for what it is or play a different game.
>I don't want to lose time and fun over manaflood/screw
...?
>time
When a player gets flooded or screwed the game is faster.
>fun
Playing against a flooded or screwed player is at least as fun as being mana flooded or screwed is unfun,
The fun is distributed less evenly, but it's (slightly)...

Only if you distribute some unhinged cards to all the players. I would love to play a unhinged game.

Do you want 54 land combo decks with perfect consistency?
Because this is how you get 54 land combo decks with perfect consistency.
Battle brothers:
>Ji-hu Hyeon,
>Valentin Morozov,
>Bernadett Mecs,
>Benedikte Sivertson
have just landed on the feudal planet. You are in orbit, commanding them. Your orders are to investigate a possible unknown xeno lifeform and exterminate it in the name of the emperor.
How do we proceed commander?
>>46158613
Have brother Ji-Hu exit the craft and look around.
>>46158676

Brother Ji-Hu has spotted a xenomorph, your orders commander?

Meanwhile, on Ork-Chan
>>46158005
okay
So are Orks too stupid to figure out how to get to Orkchan, or do they just have better things to do?
>>46158005
I'z 'elly wishin' dat dat 'upid Gretchen at da hut adn't upgredded mah lapt'p ta Win'Orks tehn!!!
Post your best MTG combos here
>>46156606
there's a flaw in your combo - you still have one black mana in your mana pool when you lose
0/10 shit combo
>>46156801
It's better than the other one, since you lose T1 with your entire deck in exile
You're right about the mana though
You could run lion's eye diamond alongside one with nothing for redundancy, which would also let you use infernal tutor to assemble the combo more reliably.
>MFW Ork players have no real answer against my Riptide.
We do, actually. The problem is that smashing your Riptide with a hammer tends to get one kicked out of the store.
>>46156529
ok here's a question - who has a better chance of taking one out? Orks or Tyranids?
>>46156503
>not having enuff dakka to throw at it
Did they use shields in medieval Japan? This is the only samurai related thing I've ever seen with one.
>>46156388
Mainly because the primary weapons in the Japanese military were two handed spears and bows.
>>46156388
They used them in sieges quite extensively, but not very much outside of that.
>>46156388
There was a type of pavise they used, yes. Initially for archers, then later for peasant musketeers. Samurai didn't use them often, as far as I can tell, but I didn't look too deeply into it besides double checking that I recalled them even using them in the first place correctly.
I NEED power armor. Halo, crysis style, for glorious space warriors
Also, sci-fi character art thread
