I'm sure they could give it a try, but being stout and earthen and beefy across the board makes it a lot harder for them. Even beardless dwarves tend to have such manly chins, bishieness becomes a real challenge. At the end of the day, most elves get the feminine tropes and dwarves get the masculine ones. That's just how it is.

The waitress yeti shouts towards the back of the inn. Placing one hand behind your back she directs you over to the bar where a yeti, obviously her dad, is standing.
"You picked up another stray kitten Mina?" he perks up from what looks like some accounting books.
The waitress brings her arm from your back and onto your head from behind and ruffle your hair
"She's a cutie" she says while turning to you with a grin. You try batting off her hand but that only provokes rougher ruffling.
"... but that's not why. Here, take a look"
"A letter from Druzag? No mistaken these crow scratches, how he runs a knight order with this kind of handwriting is a mystery"
You are left standing there while he glances over the letter.
"Mina, why don't you go let our friend here... I assume you are Alex from the letters right?"
You nod, but it's not that easy to convey your affirmation as Mina is keeping it up. By the judge of her fathers indifferent look it seems like this is par on course for the yeti.
"Why don't you sit her down and get her something to eat, I need to go back to the kitchen and talk with your mother."
"And tell you brother to cover the bar in the meanwhile will you?"
The hand slips down your back again and pushes you along the tables, passing by the patrons whom are eating, drinking, talking, laughing or arguing. You come to halt in front a table where a group is drinking heavily despite it still being early evening.
"And no shit, there I was in this clusterfuck of a goblins den, the right passage had collapsed, the left one was being overrun and.."
Mina kicks the bench so hard the other yeti, her brother you presume, nearly falls backwards spilling some of his mug
"Jarl, dad needs you behind the bar"
Looking up she has a slightly annoyed look

Clearing her frown, Minas hands lands on your shoulders.
"Alex, this sorry lot are my brothers friends, sometimes they like to go out and be productive members of society, but usually they end up like this"
Pointing over to the two males at the table, one Human male and a big holstaur.
"These two dumbskulls are Thenry and Agelm".
Lowering her voice, but still loud enough to make sure the table hears it, bringing her face closer to your ear, which have the effect of it perking up. "Please don't accept anything they offer you, and make sure to tell me when they end up doing it anyway"
Moving on to the two girls, there's the werecat and and a mousegirl who is way more tipsy than the rest of her mates, her size does her no favors while drinking it seems.
"These two are Katsu and Cwyna, why they bother to hang out with my brother and these two morons is beyond me"

I pondering the idea of running a game more in the vein and style of folk myth and stories. Small magic, and small stories, Local beings, and tests of wit where 'heroes' are closer to the bottom than the top, and are often not particularly capable.
But then i realized i have no idea what sort of system would even support that type of game, I figure it would be one of the more narrative ones, but i would defiantly still want some actual meat to the game itself, just not necessarily combat
Do you guys have any ideas?

I haven't a scoobie about what system you could use, but I would recommend Mushishi as something you should watch to get an idea for the atmosphere and such, even if not the actual stories.

I honestly don't understand how you can play in a game and only just realize, halfway into a session, that the GM is going to try and magical realm you all.
Every time a game has ended up like that for me you can tell from the second you speak to the guy that he's going to spring his m-preg fetish on you all in the 2nd session.
Hell, a few times I've even called it from adding the guy on skype.
What visual cues make a lich look clearly like a lich? There are lots of zombie, skeletons and undead out there. Is undead wizard really all you can do?
I am designing a character and while I want him to clearly be a lich, I can't have him look like a traditional wizard.

They get proselytized. Which means really just that the Ecclessiarchy gets to erect buildings there and they need to say PRAISE DA EMPRAH here and there. All things considered the IoM is fairly forgiving in terms of religion despite being Catholic space nazis.

Why was your alignment switched? Any context? If he just wanted to switch it, bring it up with him. If you murder raped 40 orphans, that's your problem.

They want to know what establishments the locale has.
Do you have a list written down? Do you improvise a few places? Do you ask them where they'd like to go and roll to see if it's there?

What kind of shit..?
I usually just come up with something on the spot.
I'll usually throw in three taverns, two general shops, two specialty shops (usually one apothecary and one blacksmith), and one highly influential "guild".
One one rare occasion, I threw in a subplot about two rival candy shops - one with an assortment of candies and pastries and another with a monopoly on the bon-bon industry.

It depends. What is the size of the town? Where is it located both geographically and culturally? What background does the town have? I usually have most of these questions answered before my players enter the town and then pull different establishments out my ass from there. I always keep the basic Tavern/Inns, Blacksmiths etc though.
Sometimes I like to fuck around with players and tell them that each Blacksmith has different stats, they then spend ungodly amounts of time comparing the blacksmith's...

Then they can roleplay investigating the town. If they want life on easy mode, they can just say "I go to the nearest blacksmith's shop" (assuming we're talking about medieval fantasy here).
I do have a list of NPC names on hand, so that I can give a name to anybody they interact with. A guard, a prostitute, a blacksmith, their next sworn enemy, or whatever.
Ditto for the names of taverns or inns,...
