How do you feel about exotic weapons, /tg/?

A waste of a feat/perk/skill/equivalent at best.
Weeaboo special-snowflake Sueshit at worst.
I don't think I've ever seen a system where exotic weapons were worth taking outside of super specific builds that were borderline exploiting the game mechanics themselves. Most of the time, anything you can achieve with an exotic weapon can be done with a "normal" weapon with the same or lesser resource investment (especially if you allow any sort of crafting systems).
How do you arm against exotic feels, /tg/?
They usually work fine for their intended application. In some settings 'exotic' is normal.
Sup /tg/, I'm planning on running a one shot with my group using Everyone is John. What experiences has /tg/ had with it? Fun for a couple hours?

Se had a lot of fun with "John is the North Korea great leader".
What are some traditions/societal rules that would seem contrived and useless, but actually do something beneficial? I have a society that has a bunch of inane rules, and the twist is they're good.
Setting is medieval(ish) and (kind of) low fantasy.

I always carry pitons, a tarp, and occasionally a rescue 8.
Just grab the rope and punch it into the wall really hard.
Gets it stuck in there pretty consistently.
Not that it's a big hazard if the rope falls out.You're playing a monk, right?

And if I think I'm going to do a lot of climbing I'll carry crampons too.
Depending on the setting I'll have microwire, grapnel, auto rappel, and the always handy gecko gloves and jikka tabi.
Alright /tg/ I got a question. If Lucius is as eternal as he is and takes over the body of who ever controls him what would happen if he dies an accidental death say a drop pod lands on him what then?

The person piloting the drop pod is possessed.
Now lets say he's walking somewhere and a random boulder falls on him without anyone doing anything to it. He dies for good. So long as there is no one close enough for him to possess.

i think the inconsistency stems from the old stuff being worse looking than their newer stuff, but they still continue to sell the old crappy stuff. no different than gw. old kits are cheaper than new kits, which is why everyones so damn confused when it comes to gw pricing

Hey Anon, me and my friends play Dungeons & Dragons and I wanted Anon to write a weird story for D&D for us to fuck around with so try writing a story for us and I will bring it to our next D&D session.
A mad wizard has stolen the color blue. Not just the color, but the concept of it. Water is now grey and tasteless, the sky is dull and dreary. if they dont have characters yet, make them roll strange races. make them be animals pretending to be human or something. or if you want them to be surprised by the campaign, have wizards fuck with their perceptions. left is down, right is up, shit like that. weak attacks hit harder, damaging magic heals. if you want to be a real dick, fuck with the perception of the movements too

I always thought it was odd that projects like these actually manage to get abandoned in the first place.
As long as there's a version of the rules out, any tosser can start a branch if it seems like the original designer got bored or kicked the bucket.
It's not like you don't have the source code to compile from or whatever.
Zelda RPG, Mario RPG, and CATastrophy all come to mind. I would have said DBZ a few weeks ago but I've been seeing it recently crop back up.
