Because they're Big Gals.

So one way or another, I've decided I'm going to make a blue deck. Now my predicament is that I don't really have any single costing blue creatures, most are 3+ though I have a FEW 2's. So I figure I need to aim to play slow, but my question is, can I? I mainly play a white deck that puts out tokens like a white trash girls put out kids when they're with a black guy, and my other deck is a red green, so I'm use to getting guys out at a pretty fast rate, perhaps I'm just insecure about waiting to get fuckers out there.

Anything that is requisite / part of the premise of the campaign should be handed out for free. Don't make a game entirely about playing ghosts and then force the players to pay "out of pocket" to be ghosts, for example.

I have found myself in a very odd situation. I am very good at magic and all of my friends have noticed i play one very budget modern deck. I am good at the game but i refuse to pay 1000's of dollars for cards because i just cant at the moment. I need some sort of proxy/fake cards to use just until i can afford the real thing. Where do i go for the good fake mtg cards?

if you're looking for the chinamen, you should probably rethink your life, this is why you only play kitchen table with friends and stop getting mad you cant get the most optimal deck ever

on another note, you can also just get a fucking job, work your ass, get mone and then save for your much needed staples
>>

>>47531441
Check aliexpress or Villezheng for chinamen proxies. You won't gain the cards to make a whole deck this way. Just copies of the chase rares.
Or keep playing budget decks and kicking their ass.

I take inspiration from all sorts of media, and from personal experiences. RPGs, games, movies, books, pictures, family, stories, songs, or even a catchy phrase can get the gears turning. I'll often merge several disparate influences into one, both to round things out and to distill the sources into something less of a rip-off. By then I usually have an 'elevator pitch' for the character's name and/or personality (for names I like mashups of obscure references, distinct sounds and memorability).

From that concept I either design a character I want to roleplay and find a build to match, or vice-versa. These days I try to strike somewhere down the middle. I often start with a skeletal 'gimmick' and expand out.

Generally, I ask myself questions:
>Is this something I've never tried before, or maybe haven't done in a while?
>Is this character fun for the entire table, or just myself?
>Do I think we'll get bored of this concept quickly, or do I feel like there's some life in it?
>If the game has classes, what race/class combo would best draw out the features of this character?
>What does this character bring to the table, whether for roleplay or rollplay?
>How can I marry this overall concept to the setting, and ensure it works in a group environment?

If it doesn't match my (or the GM's) criteria, I don't go back to the drawing board, but I WILL revise areas that don't work until it clicks. Compromises can and should be made.

From there, I like to draw/find a picture that describes the character at-a-glance. Then I'll start thinking about spells/alignment if they apply. I usually keep these ideas prepared, but not written in advance so that I can make last-minute adjustments during chargen.

I like to have a few broad character concepts down the pipeline. That way if a campaign comes up in a setting I'm not too enthused about, at least I can enjoy sharing my character with others.

Does anyone else just hate humans? Like the opposite of HFY?

Humanity is so lame. They're always supposedly the most diverse and versatile race but they're really just shit at everything.

Elves are smarter and prettier, dwarves are better warriors and craftsmen, orcs are stronger and tougher... Humans are just garbage.

Humanity needs to die.

OP, I don't wanna be an asshole, but gimme a reason to review the game; I see the blurb on the site, but that doesn't really tell me too much.

Is it rules heavy or lite? How about the setting; are the mechanics applicable if you don't want to play in the setting itself? And the setting itself: is it a basic Magic Japan setting, or a 'hard' historical type setting, or something else entirely? Telling me it's a story of love or what have you means nothing if the DM decides to not do as such; telling me that the rules are death lite or death heavy does.

I want to know what the fuck I'm going to invest the next few hours of my life in reviewing and studying, mate.

> Be me
> Look for a DnD game online with my friends.
> The party is full, but we have no DM, and none of us are willing to take the burden. I’m sure you can relate.
> Suddenly we find some crazy person who’s willing to DM for us, despite never talking to us before. Let’s call him the Roman. This is his story.
> Pretty much nobody else in the party is cruicial to the story, but there was a guy playing a psion, a guy playing a female cleric and a guy playing a sorcerer. I’ll call them all by their class names.
> Roman tells us that he has a couple of homebrewed settings for us and offers us a choice between them. As I’m reading, I start to suspect something.
> The first choice is basically medieval Europe, except with a little bit magic. There are elves and dwarves, and also drow - which have innate spellcasting, special magic plate armor that allows them to spellcast and other ridiculous shit, but the intended race for the players is a human one, which is just like in default DnD - except it has subraces that add even more shit to it. For example, celts get an additional feat on top of regular human one, while jews get… -2 to charisma and “reputation”, whatever that means. Classes are also restriced by nations, so no paladins for the jews. Oy vey.
> The second one is set in Russia, it’s about how pagan and non-orthodox cults mutate people into beatmen, and only righteous russian true believers can stop this threat in the name of God.
> The third one is set in a post-apocalyptic world, and there’s nothing really special about it except that, apparently, technology exists in it, but you need special skill like UMD to use it. Since it’s our only choice that is not /pol/ approved, the party picks this one.

> Since this is an online game, we need some sort of place to actually play at - luckily, the Roman already has an idea. Our OOC communications - and some of the IC communications - will be done in skype voicechat, while maps, charsheets and dicerolling will be made in something called Fantasy Grounds 2.
> Sorc suddenly starts protesting - apparently, he’s familiar with FG2 and says that it’s expensive shit nobody is gonna waste their money on, but the Roman calms him - an old version of FG2 is on pirate bay, and it’s mostly bug free.
> Turns out, this motherfucker lied, because setting up character sheets took an entire day for us. First of all, this shit program kept crashing, deleting our data, having huge issues with cyrillic alphabet and otherwise being a huge nuisance. Secondly, the Roman insisted that he’ll go through the character generation process with each of us, one at a time.
> Time to pick the character for myself, and I decide that I want a female unarmed swordsage. I ask the Roman if I can switch my weaboo fightan magic a little bit and get lightning element for my Desert Wind discipline instead of fire.
> Oddly enough, he agrees, but quickly gets overexcited with homebrewing. My powers now come from this mystical lost technology that is implanted into my flesh, and every time I get a new manuever level, I must spend level*1000 gp to change my implants. On the plus side, I get +1 lightning damage to all my unarmed attacks, so this should even out, right?
> When I timidly ask the Roman if he’s not going a little bit overboard with homebrew, he brushes it off. After all, swordsages and psions are homebrew already - he’s just making some fixes.
> Wait, what?
> Apparently, he doesn’t know or believe that books other than PBH, DMG and MM exist. And he doesn’t believe us when we say that Tome of Battle is official.
> It was this very moment when we've realized that it’s gonna be a very short and very special campaign.

Would this work on a d20 tabletop, /tg/?

Maybe, although it'd also work in better systems.
>>
>>47528587
Anon, I like mountain blade too, but you have to think about what the fuck you're rolling those skills against. Without a system behind it, those are just meaningless numbers.
>>
>>47528611

I don't know, the specific level up scaling of WB (+1/+1/+10, level cap 40) looks better on a d20 perspective to me.

Keep in mind I'm talking about HIGHLY sandbox games in a generic feudal world with no magic at all.

What's the relationship between a flanged mace and a morning star?
48 posts and 9 images submitted.
>>
They both have points that concentrate the impact, have them all around so its easy to use, no worrying about aligning the swing properly and stuff.

Same function, different names and different looks, basically.

A morningstar does look a bit more intimidating, though.
>>
on again, off again. one winds up calling the other on a low point and the other remembers the bad times but feels guilty/nostalgic enough to call back and set something up anyway
>>
The flanged mace thinks they're meant to be together, but the morning star prefers being friends with benefits. It's kinda awkward.

'Sup /tg/, long time lurker, first time poster. So my friends and I are going to try out D&D for the first time this Saturday. I have a few questions I was wondering if you elegan/tg/entlemen could answer for me.
>Where to get dice?
>Best ways to avoid railroading
>What do do if the players lose interest
Emphasis on the dice bit, I don't know if they'll be here in time but I've never bought any in person.

Any tips or advice would be appreciated.
11 posts and 2 images submitted.
>>
Any game store and most bookstores should have dice. Dice are usually either sold in sets (a common set for D&D contains a d4, a d6, a d8, two d10s, a d12, and a d20) and sells for ~$3-6 USD. Many stores also sell dice in big buckets in which case you can pick out whichever once you want and buy them by the each in which case expect to pay no more than $1 USD a die.
>>
>>47527924
>Where to get dice?
Where do you live? You should have, unless you live in the middle of nowhere like myself, a gamestore somewhat within reach. Otherwise you should be able to buy them from amazon for instance.

>Best ways to avoid railroading
By offering the party "choices" would be the simple answer. It depends though on what type of game you are planning to GM (that is, is it a dungeoncrawl, a "storyfag" type of game, etc).

>What do do if the players lose interest
Let them. Some probably will. D&D is not for everyone.
>>
>>47527924
>Where to get dice?

Game Science produces the best dice but they went bankrupt several years back, were bought up, and now charge anywhere from 40% to 350% more than they did. They're the only gaming dice currently machined so that their surfaces are precise to within 1/10,000 of an inch.

>Best ways to avoid railroading
I have come to the conclusion that people don't actually understand what this consists of, judging by how often this question gets asked. Railroading happens when your players don't want to engage in any of the plot arcs you're offering and you try to force them to do them anyway. To avoid railroading you must be capable of improvisation. To be capable of improvisation you must have a reasonable grasp of the game's mechanics so that you won't make the challenges too easy or hard, you have to have considerable knowledge about the region of the campaign setting you're using so you can utilize the resources the writers already came up with for you, and you need a very strong understanding of what your players find enjoyable.

>What to do if the players lose interest
Something different from what you were doing before. Without knowing anything about your game or your players any general advice I can't give advice on that. You should only actually care about that if you have good players, though. Players are a dime a dozen, since nobody wants to DM, and you may be sifting through droves of failures before you find decent gamers.
