Why
>>47502613
Despite being bad games, D&D and Pathfinder are popular.
because newbies who pick up the boxset without looking at other stuff and people with shit taste
>>47502671
>>47502678
>I'm a faggot
Despite your endless bitching, D&D are still good games and no one cares about your gay opinions.
Are there any RPG without internal progression? No level/rank up, no gaining XP, no base stats increase, etc.
Gaining advantage through equipments or item use is fine, because it's external, i.e. not an obligation for every PC.
>>47502485
Dunno mate, just start at maximum level ? Start at medium level and kick the exp rules out of the Window ?
>>47502485
There are tons of rpgs like that. What genre are you looking for?
>>47502628
Unfortunately I don't want to homebrew an already existing game into a level-less one. I'm looking for examples. Thanks for your thoughts, anon.
>>47502685
Any genre, anon. Thank you. Actually I'm trying to use them as a reference in designing an RPG.
any fun podcasts you guys listen to while converting and painting mini's ?
Welcome to Nightvale is breddy gud. I like the weather reports the most.

Came here to say this. I plowed through 5 episodes in one sitting once, while assembly lining minis.

>>47502734
Is there some form of compendium for his work yet? I've been away for a while and I'm sure I missed some good shit.
>>47502794
I'll post the ones i have for you anon.
Has this been talked about yet?
The biggest german RPG is getting an english release. I can't wait to hear all the opinions of you guys when you start to wonder why on earth anyone would need a farming skill or animal husbandry. Not animal handling, animal husbandry. it's in the game from the start, same as Knowledge of Stones. Or maybe Stonelore is a better translation.
The only problem I have is that it seems like they're marketing as a high fantasy thing just because there is magic and dragons. But stuff like that is pretty rare and most people living...

Is the combat still the most boring thing imaginable?
I am pretty sure that even villagers have seen magic as one in 150 has magic
>>47501426
How are the new rules? I heard conflicting things about them, coming from 4.1.
Also, as a linguist, I'm appalled they cut the Linguistics Skill.

for starters are you the GM or the Player?
>Ranger is in danger of getting fucked by a huge Bear
Well anon, if you're going to run gay ERP games, the quality is going to suffer
>>47501110
Your players are dumb and need you to hand them inspiration when they succeed at a check rather than victories.

What does a dodge bonus to Strength look like?
What about a natural armor bonus to Intelligence?
Or a shield bonus to Wisdom?
Does having a size bonus to Charismamake you a big guy?
>>47500473
Just make everything a circumstance bonus, they stack.
I'm fairly sure you can't have some bonuses for certain things (e.g. dodge bonus to strength, dodge bonuses only affect AC and sometimes reflex saves. Shield bonus to Wisdom because a shield bonus explicitly improves Armor Class, etc).
Start here, at Modifier Types, to see different bonuses:
http://www.d20srd.org/srd/theBasics.htm
>>47500473
>What about a natural armor bonus to Intelligence?
A "natural armor bonus" is a "natural" bonus to armor. So turning an Intelligence bonus into that would be a natural Intelligence bonus.
>>47501683
A 'natural armor bonus' is one of the 17 (if I haven't missed any) types of bonus you can get in 3.5. There is no 'natural intelligence bonus'. You couldn't change it to affect your intelligence. See the link in >>47500645 to see what each type of bonus can change.
I'm currently working on a game based on Endless Legend. For those not familiar with the setting - the planet was once inhabited by powerful precursors, who left behing a lot of interesting toys. That considered, the game won't be solely focused on murderhobo archeology. Interacting with various NPC groups will also be important.
The question - is Cypher system any good? Never played it myself, just started reading the book after skimming Numenera. Does the system support social interactions properly?
Did you like it, or did you hate it, and why?

Tactical marine bump.
Interested, but I've never played with the cypher system. From what I heard it seems to hold up for games like yours
>>47500364
I think Cypher will work for you, I've only played Numenera, but your artifacts fit the bill of the fluff of numenera anyway. I don't really like the way the cypher system handles armor, but that's all subjective anyway.
Does your character (still) have a mother? How important is she to your character and the overall story, or does she only exist for tragic death bait for untalented DMs?
>>47500232
Yeah, she's in another country, he visits her once a month and he lives for the rest of the time under a false identity. She's his primary weak point, so he keeps her distanced from him as much as possible.
One character I played had a horribly abusive mother whohung herself after locking him in the basement, it cemented the character's mommy issues as he was unable to move on from the loss. Thinking he did something wrong and caused it.
So, you know. Pretty important.
>>47500232
My current one does not, no.
He never even knew his mother as she was some random whore whom his father said he was quite fond of but whom he never personally met.
I've actually made this a plot point; he's masculine and relatively successful with women, but due to a severe lack of exposure to them outside of sex in his
17th century-style setting he's not really very good at understanding them, especially since he's been a sailor surrounded by men his whole life.
He treats women okay at least.
How do I give characters/places exotic names in a supposedly fictional language that don't sound stupid as fuck? All I ever do is add random apostrophes so everyone sounds like Al'ac of House Jin'mo'quan from the land of Fa'tok.
Take some random words from a foreign language and consistently substitute a letter.
Use a real fictional language, like Quenya or Klingon.
Use real foreign languages and just change the spelling?
Ever have a Necromancer BBEG? What was their end goal?
Ours wanted to unite all peoples across our nation.

So, Rakshasa's aren't just "lol furry" villains right? They're serious Big-Bad's in desert settings right?
......Right?I'm running desert-themed campaign and have him as the big-bad....my group is composed of online players and they constantly make fun of furries[/spoilers]
>>47498423
They got fucking backwards hands, dude.
2fuckinspooky
>>47498447
Every time.
>>47498423
Your players are asshats.
Rakshasas are cool and terrifying. They're one of humanity's few predators, except with human intelligence, magic and backwards hands.
This whole "Everything involving animal people is furries lol" meme was never funny and needs to die.
Your favorite fantasy illustrator? Mine's Russ Nicholson, who did a lot of Fighting Fantasy books and some early Warhammer. His stuff is so lovingly detailed and grotesque.

And of course he illustrated a large chunk of the AD&D Fiend Folio.
>There has only ever been one lich
>And there only ever will be one lich
>He finds and kills everyone that might become one

>Player is playing a necromancer

I like this lich but I'd be at odds with him unless he has a good reason for saying I can't be immortal skeleman. What's the truth of the ritual?
>>47498460
>What's the truth of the ritual?Admitting your waifu a shit.
>>47498476
I don't even have one. Does that mean I'm already a lich and never knew it?
