What is a characteristic food in your games?
WHat is soemthing thematic you can cook for a medieval LARP? I'm probably going to be a cook in a GoT LARP and wanted soemthing easy to cook to give the players.

For snacks, make some hardtack. Maybe throw in some sugar and cinnamon, though that wouldn't be as "thematic". You could also / instead make some sweet biscuits.
For drinks, you could serve water, beer or cider. You could also buy some non-alcoholic imitation alcohol for non-drinkers.
For the meal, I would serve a meat-and-vegetable stew. This might be any usual culinary meat except chicken, since I don't really like chicken stews. If I could get it, I would use wild boar or venison but pork or beef would also be fine.
I'd serve the stew with some good-quality rye, sourdough or wholemeal bread and a block of butter. If you can get dripping, then you could also supply that.
For desert, I'd suggest an apple pie, maybe spiced with cloves or cinnamon. If you can get sharp fruit like blackberries, then put those in the pie as well. Serve it with cream.

4chan does not know how to cook, but there are plenty of ways to put meat in bread from proper traditional cuisine. Like Russian piroshki, for instance.

Chat when talking in character and voice when out of character.
Voice, with text for "hidden" messages (to gm or other players) or dialogue that's not part of the main scene (e.g. "while he's talking to those guys, my Barbarian is learning how to ride a horse").
Playing live without voice is fucking retarded. How awful is your group if they can't handle the most interesting part of tabletop RPGs? Just find a play-by-post option.
The Imperial Guard fights on the planets of the Imperium and protects it from attacks on the ground by Orks and Heretics and suchlike. But the thing is that said threats can't just walk from one planet to another. If they want to get from system to system and planet to planet they need to get on a ship, fly to that planet and land on it. As such to defend the worlds of humanity the best way to go about it is to blow up their ships (and their cargo of evil jerks) in space before they arrive. Likewise we can't take the fight to them without doing the same so we can keep...

They should have made Squats the original Cult Mechanicus guys. Imagine a 40k where Cult Mechanicus is mainly populated by squats, and any humans are just the minority among them (but are still noticable).
Cult Mechanicus is already know for making 90% of humanity's machines, and the fact that they worship a contradicting deity to the rest of the imperium almost makes it seem like the Cult Mechanicus followers are a separate race all together. I get that they're half-robots, but still. if the Cult Mechanicus was made up mostly of Squats, everything would work...

Squats not having their own real distinct play style is why they were squatted, supposedly. But I'm not interested in another dwarves-are-craftsmen repetition. I'd rather they have more jump or jet infantry than most armies, and have rules that take advantage of it.

If squats were ever to become an official thing again, the squatting should actually be referenced as an in-universe event, rather than trying to sweep the elephant under the rug at the cost of everyone else.

Playing 3.5 as a wizard, and tried using Explosive Runes as an improvised bomb. Almost died in the process, but it got me thinking.
Any favorite wizard tricks you have /tg/?
At low level, whenever I'm playing a wizard (or if I have it on a magic item as a Rogue) I like to escape bad situations by jumping from high places on purpose and using Featherfall. Most of the time the enemies won't have a way to keep following unless they're willing to take massive fall damage. Admittedly it's not that original or complicated, but it's one of my most used.
Minor Image (or similar illusion spell) to make a party member with lots of health/armor look like you (the squishy caster) is pretty funny too. Especially if you wana bait...

As an illusionist in particular:
Use your illusions to make mounts throw their riders. Most animals have low Will saves, and most horses won't continue a charge if they see a tiger or some other large predator in their way. Play up your GM for bonuses since you're using something the creatures would specifically fear.
Vanish + Minor Image or some kind of Audible illusion is a good way to mislead opponents to your real position (put fake footprints on the ground or something) and make them...

I was on fourth or fifth grade back when LotR movies were stil kinda new thing. Decided that the minis were so cool I had to have some. Learned a bit later that there was a set of rules and started playing with friends who were also into it

A girl in my class liked to play D&D. She would regularly invite me and I'd chicken out because I couldn't imagine people might actually want me around for something.
A few years after losing contact with her, I got curious and started reading up. Today I still sometimes kick myself for not having taken those invitations.

Was working as a stagehand and when you get home at 3AM you can't exactly do much hobbywise. Since I couldn't really play guitar or videogames with other people around I picked up 40k to build and paint models since that's nice and quiet and won't wake people up.
It also helped because at work most of us were just music guys or metalheads. Getting into 40k gave me an outlet for my nerdier side since I wasn't in school anymore and most of them had moved away.

Why have Snakes always just been horrible fodder in fantasy, given how dangerous and badass they are in real life? Anyone have any examples where Snakes are proper threats in TG?
A rattlesnake isn't much of a threat if you're wearing plate armor.
