Also, are there any cards that let you use cards that your opponents exile when you use certain devoid spells and the ingest mechanic, or was all this exile shit a huge whiff?
by use I mean taking control of the exiled cards, kind of how ashiok did, but with more than creatures.

Is a Red/Black Eldrazi deck viable in any way whatsoever?

Sorry friendo, standard is a dead topic on tg until em drops then we will talk about it for 3 weeks and go back to our faggot modern circle jerk where 75% of the discussion is about proxies or edh where 75% of the discussion is faggots from the modern thread shitting up another thread about proxies.

I'm playing bu brains tides and its been fairly successful, hoping to get some juicy additions in em.

How do you online DMs get anything done in reasonable time? Especially in Roll20 where I need to move and make rolls for several NPC's instead of just waving my hands the game just slows down too much. At least two of my players were playing hearthstone last session. I've made sure all my players are using headsets with mics and are mostly familiar with the site and they're doing fine on time, I think it's really the DM's fault here but I'm not sure how to fix it. I've been taking far too long to roll for the NPCs and give a good description of what they're doing.

It's a homebrew 3.5 game and I like having a lot of NPC's in my games. First session I decided on actions for each NPC, rolled d20s for each, and rolled saves and damage. Second session I rolled all the d20s at once to try and save time. Now, I'm rolling a d100 for each 'group' of NPC's and estimating how well they do based on that. The players will still roll d20s. I also abandoned the idea of all the NPCs having a single turn in the turn list and am splitting up the NPC turns in-between player turns. I'm afraid the d100 system will break down the moment they get into battle with the skeletons next night.

Any advice? Did I just throw in too many NPC's? There has to be a good system for NPC action.

you're playing too much with the app and not with the players

I had to realize this a few sessions in. My 3 games are 3 hours long, and usually for the first hour I'm in my chair. The last two hours I'm drunk and laying on my bed with a pillow over my face being the world for my players.

tl;dr recommend me fun board games for Tabletop Simulator that are easy to get into for a party of 4 to 6

I acquired Tabletop Simulator on Steam a while ago and so far it has been a blast. Me and my friends have clocked near 60 hours into it playing basic stuff like Cards Against Humanity, Superfight and Munchkin

Those games are kind of losing their appeal, though, and it's probably because they aren't the deepest games out there. We have no experience with board games ourselves, so I decided to ask for suggestions: what games you guys would recommend that is easy to get into? We are open to all kinds of themes or setups, though something like Superfight's Villain Mode (where it's everyone vs one person) is one of our favorite setups

Sherlock Holmes Consulting Detective is simple and fun for friends to play. Set aside 2-3 hours and really just dig deep into it. Only the first 2 cases are in the workshop, but I'm planning on getting the rest on there soon.
Battlecon is fantastic but only truly supports 2 at a time, you can go higher but it's not really well designed for that.
Betrayal at House on the Hill is not too serious or deep but always generates a good story.
Dixit and Mysterium are fun and light.
Love Letter and Skull should be thrown into your rotation of light games, as they take no more than 15 minutes.

When you want to get into something a bit more heavier, try these:
Chaos in the Old World. It's a longer strategy game for 4 or 5 people (don't play it with fewer than 4) that is fairly deep.
Dead of Winter is a co-op with potential betrayer and a zombie theme.
Tragedy Looper is my favorite board game, and it's a 3v1 strategy game where
Time Stories is a great time, similar to Sherlock it can only be played a few times though, and only the first 2 cases are on the workshop.
Try the usual gamut of Euro games: Catan, Race for the Galaxy, Splendor, Carcassonne, that Railroad game that I can't remember the name of. If you discover you enjoy Euro games and want something heavier, try Dominant Species.

You should just come to the Board Game General threads and browse around to see any games that catch your eye, since many are in the workshop.

That's quite a list, thank you very much, I'll check those out

Also, thanks for also listing bigger games. We usually play a few rounds of whatever game we have in hand after classes, but we could use something for weekends

I'll check the general out, too. Board games outside of the usual stuff such as Monopoly, Risk etc didn't really catch up in my third world country so I'm really new to this area

Over 6 months I joined a D&D group at my local gaming store. There I met a kid named Logan. Logan was in his mid teens. At first I did not know what to make of him because he had hearing aids and a device drilled into his head and spoke as if he was deaf. At first thats what I thought because it took us several times to explain stuff to him when his batters died.
Regardless we played and had fun. Logan usually played a Dragonborn. Some times a fighter but a lot of times a wizard. As apart of his arsenal was a large amount of fire spells. A LOT of fire spells. I can't tell you how many times those fire balls saved our asses. We were playing the new Demon book just released not too long ago. When we came to a bridge covered in spider webs. Logans first question "Whats the bridge made of?"DM: "Stone"Logan: "Awww"
Logan always had something funny to say and rolled ones religious-lee always in hilarious ways usually resulting in teamkilling the same guy TWICE. The first time with a danger close fireball and second with a javelin to the chest.
Then one day after skipping a week Logans father came to D&D to help Logan down the steps to our play area. Then I learned Logan had just had a Brain tumor removed several days prior. Logan was visibly weak. I then learned this was his fourth tumor. FOURTH. This kid had gone through four tumor sugarys. Yet here he was making it to almost every D&D game he could. Just to play.
Why? Because it made him happy.
His parents told us that Coming to D&D and playing with us. Us who Treated him like one of our own.
Who we treated like our own little brother.
Who we laughed with.
Who we shared storys with.
Who we played with as if we did not have a care in the world.

Tonight his parents came to game night. They Brought with them a bag of D20 dice they custom ordered and gave one to each of us.

And from the bottom of their hearts thanked us for making their son happy when the world could not.

Tonight I raze my glass to the loss of a Brother who for as long as I live I will never forget.

I'm telling you all this so Logan the Fire mage may find some form of immortality in the infinite vastness of the internet so that he will never truly be gone.

TO YOU! YOU MAGNIFICENT TEAMKILLING FIRE DRAGON!

How fast does a hobbit's metabolism move that they need to eat so much everyday?

Do you guys make hobbit players pay extra for their weekly/monthly food because of this?

Not very fast. Most are fat fucks
>>
>>47795803

If they're small then don't they eat smaller portions? Maybe their meal schedule is simply more extended and ritualized snacking. It's not like someone half the size of a regular person is going to be eating a dozen regular person meals daily.
>>
>>47795803
They're indulgent.
It's like...13(?) Meals a day, of those maybe 5 are regarded as a big meal akin to American dinners
In the books Aragon weaned them off fatfuckery onto what is implied to be a meal schedule and portions common for him(an exceedingly active human male)

Discuss.

That's actually a pretty interesting idea.

It would be a bit more abstract, but the most important bits of information (distance, marching order, whether or not you're surrounded, etc.) would be preserved, though you'd lose an entire dimension of tactical movement.

However, it would be easier to track height/depth, which may be more important in submarine/plane/flying game, though my guess is that players would prefer top down and some other form of notation for height.

Ultimately, it might be best to go the Paper Mario route, where the world is whimsical and the flatness is just a quirk of the world.

Can we get a maps thread going, anything VTT or general table top maps.

How would a world have developed without the discovery of petrol/oil/cars in general? Could it still be advanced in the way we are today?
27 posts and 7 images submitted.
>>
>>47794894
Plastics would probably not have developed to anywhere near the same extent.

Electric vehicles and related technologies would probably be more advanced than what we have now.
>>
>>47794934
would coal be the most prominent power source (prior to nuclear, solar anyway)

I am mainly trying to develop a world that is as developed/more developed than now, but has no cars, but I am just trying to think of how people would get around without them, and how the world would be different to ours if oil and cars didn't exist - since it would affect a great deal of industries and development.

>but has no cars, but I am just trying to think of how people would get around without them, and how the world would be different to ours if oil and cars didn't exist
Public transportation, in the form of street cars/metros/subways and the like maybe? Or maybe day to day travel inside a city would be via golf cart type vehicles like some beach communities have, with intercity travel handled by trains.

A big major difference would be in air travel. No petroleum products really puts a damper on air flight. No air flight means the intercontinental freight and passenger transport network would be vastly different. Unless you are talking much more advanced than we are currently.

Wondering when non-PC adventurer's retire in your setting tg, assuming adventuring is not unique to your PC's

Around what levels do they normally stop? Why this Level/level range? Is it generally around low or mid or high levels? How uncommon is it for adventurers to rise above this level?

Again this is about NPC people with adventuring class levels in your setting not the PC's

Veterans are listed as CR3 in 5e, so that's about level 5.
>>
>>47794632
Probably about level 5. By that time most either hit a big enough score that allows them to buy their way into a more respectable job and settle down, have a close enough brush with death that it scares them into giving it up, or die. The ones who carry on are the ones with a genuine calling, or such a deep-rooted sense of wanderlust that they won't ever be satisfied living in one place.
>>
>>47794632
I'd give them a back story involving a critical hit that cost a limb or eye or some such. Maybe have an ex-PC show up having suffered a grievous wound. Adjust level accordingly.

What are some tricks a Necromancer might have to fuck with/murder players? What are some of your favorite things Necromancers have done in your experience/can do, especially when angry?

Rumored MtG banned list for July:

Modern: Sensei's Divining Top is unbanned in order to give blue decks more power, and also to give Mardu control decks more power, as this will allow them to play Dark Confidant, Nahiri, and Emrakul in the same deck. This will also allow Miracles to emerge as an archetype in the format. In order to keep the newly unbanned Top in check, Counterbalance is banned.

Legacy: In order to keep Miralces in check, Counterbalance is banned.

[Citation needed]

Where does this rumor come from? Who said it?

Also, if true, it's retarded beyond reason. Top was banned for time issues, WotC admits this. Additionally, Miracles, while good, is hardly the best deck in Legacy and it is seriously up for debate as to if Counterbalance deserves a ban.

2/10, got me to respond.
>>
>>47793550
You happen to be retarded, top isn't banned because of balance issues but time.
>>
>>47793550
Top is banned because it's a gameplay-legal way to make time.

How does one design a good villain? Tell me about some of the memorable ones you've seen in your games.

>>
Design a good hero, then age them up a bit.
>>
You've got to get the right mix of seeing the aftermath of what they've done/word of mouth/respect to leave an impression on the players.

Hell my players are already worried about the mob boss bbeg they've been tasked with taking down and They don't even know he's an acid spitting half-insect mutant
>>
Villain design, in terms of an RPG, is all about creating interesting interactions with the players. A good villain is one which gives your player characters things to do, which creates interesting situations for them to experience and has an adversarial personality they can play off of.

Beyond general principles though, it's hard to say anything more without knowing the setting and style of a game. What makes a villain good varies massively between a heroic fantasy game, a hard sci-fi game and contemporary mystery game. All have their own genre conventions, requirements and setting conceits which change the way a villain can interact with the PCs.
