Gnome teaching elementary school to some of the larger races
Human wizard in his mid-twenties holding a tome in one hand with his other extended with a small fireball hovering above his palm. There is a determined look on his face. He has black hair that comes down to his shoulders. The wizard robes he wears are comfortable enough to maneuver in combat, but do a good job of indicating his profession.

Its about the cardpool avaiable to build decks with. In Legacy, every card since the start of the game is valid for use in a deck, in Modern, only cards with the new artstyle are valid, and in Type 2 / Standard, only the last two or three sets of cards are valid. They all use the same rules and play the same way.
There ARE variant gamerules, tho, stuff like Two-Headed Giant and Commander / EDH. Those are also called "formats", even tho they're really variants rather than formats per se.

Hawk just posted update 11 along with renders of more PHR cruisers, the biggest points are:

If magic doesn't exist in your steam/diesel punk setting, how would you go ahead and explain the very advanced technology that exists? Do you add new laws of physics to support the science? Alien technology that is easy to duplicate once understood? Or do away with the airships and keep things far more realistic?
Mostly wondering how others have approached the problem then an end all solution.

If it's about the airships, I'd take the blimp tech and kick it up several notches. The ship would be built around the baloon to keep it armored. Advances in metallurgy would provide lighter but less durable materials than regular steel. Though the airships would be used more for transport and recon than war.

Setting I was making long ago where another dimension up and replaced most of the the South American continent and was slowly consuming the U.S Southern States(Set in the Civil War Era).
The tech came from a new energy source from this new 'dimension' land that was found in abundance but one had to brave the legions of Lovecraftian horrors to reach it. It was basically a blue glowy rock that could be burned like coal but generated energy far surpassing that of coal or any other known energy source. With that kind of energy output, and a need to militarize the American territory fast to push back the invasion of monsters and their hell dimension, all kinds of tech sprung up with the blue rock supplying the necessary energy to power it(i.e support frames so soldiers could carry heavy weapons, power armor attached to power cables that were transported by trains. Trains that were more like tanks in that they didn't need to run on rails but rather just plowed through whatever terrain with ease, etc.)
I state 'The premise of this setting is that archaic high technology exists and is functional'.
That's it. If I want to, I'll technobabble some explanation, but if I'm designing a setting and state my intention, that's enough IMO. If you're aiming for realism, cool, but if I'm not then bringing it up isn't really relevant.

Your outfit becomes a work of Art! Choose a second outfit type and combine the two, Your outfit gives double bonus stats.
Been reading the Legends of the Wulin core book, but dammit if this isn't the most poorly laid out piece of PnP literature I've ever read.
Anyone have any experience with the system and give me the tl;dr on some of the skill resolution mechanics?

A friend said that he found it easier to get through by reading it like a novel, rather than like he would a rulebook. It's got the annoying habit of blending fluff and crunch together, and half the time it kind of uses fluff examples to explain crunch.
I'd say give it a once over, then focus on combat and Kung fu, which are the meat of the system. After you've wrapped your head around that, you can touch the confusing yet awesome thing which is Secret Arts.

Your GM tells you to make a character that is your magical realm right now. What do you build?The twist is that this is not ERP. Your GM wants you to make something that is a legitimate character concept even without the erotic element factoring in. Does it succeed or is it blatantly transparent?
Character would be a magic user who enjoys controlling/transforming others and making them his servants or slaves. So yes, it works perfectly fine and is in fact perfectly amiable to most game's Wizards in general.
