ITT: Self-drawn character portraits.
You've all done it at least once, so show your work and comment on the character if you'd like.

Just to be clear, this is not a drawthread. Just a showcase of your own artwork depicting characters you've played.

My first character was a demon hunter who targeted succubi and inccubi to avenge his father who was killed by one. He ended up getting killed by a lich who had a harem of succubi that my character was unknowingly hunting down one by one.

Wysteria was a halfling Druid Geomancer that eventually became more plant-matter than flesh. Her weapon of choice was a blowgun tipped with various poisons she brewed using plants in her grove. She eventually retired when her body became so plant-like that she took root in her own grove and became one with it.

What's your character's backstory?

Why are they a murderhobo, or whatever it is they are? How'd they pick their career, do they have any specific reason to want to violently murder the BBEG?

Soldier battling in the mines of Ypres during WW1. Found an Abyssal Temple period deep underground, complete with warped cultists praying to a mind-blasting abomination. Was forcibly awoken by the sight and discovered that most major mortal wars were engineered by supernatural powers. Since then went on a quest to stop said influence.

Not going so well.

she was bought from her mother at a very young age by aztechnology and used for experimental gene therapy, mutagenics, and 'ware testing. she survived it, so they jammed a persona fix chip in her head and started using her as an assassin, most typically for wiping out runner teams that had reneged on a deal or played false.

Then on the way back from her last deployment she mustered up all her willpower and slammed her head against the wall of the extraction helicopter as hard as her augmented muscles would allow. It was an attempted suicide, but she only managed to fracture her skull, and short out the chip in her head.

With her, by this point deeply insane, "real" self in control of her body she promptly murdered everyone aboard the helicopter, realized she didn't know how to fly a helicopter, crashed, and limped off into the city slums.

Eventually managed to hire a demon specialist to help him track down the guy who made his bloodline like that, she worked cheap and yadda yadda sappy love story.

Eventually manage to figure out how to contact who they think is the fiend who's responsible for it and contact him. They ended up contacting basically the fiend version of Trazyn the Infinite and he offered to make him a warlock because he needs an errand boy.

Well, he and his GF get captured by rival criminals, she dies, he spontaneously manifests mind bullets and slaughters them by accepting the offer, and now he's traveling the world looking for magical items to send to his boss. Who also has his GF safe and sound in his collection because who else can claim to have BOTH halves of a pair of star-crossed lovers?

Do you use a voice different from your normal voice when speaking as your character? Does your DM do different voices? Do you think it's important at the table?
32 posts and 2 images submitted.
>>
I only do voices when I'm the dm, typically. It's too much work to keep a consistent accent or different voice as a player. I will however, alter my cadence as a player, talking how a goblin or a haughty noblewoman might speak.

And I don't even try doing a womanly voice. I simply can't do it and it embarrasses me terribly.
>>
sometimes I do, if I can actually get into the headspace of a character. I was in a game that felt very video gamey and railroady at times and I just couldn't feel the character of my characters. on the other hand, in a deadlands game I played a black hat cowboy who called every party member by some derivitave nickname, I had a slight drawl and gruff tone every time I spoke in character and can't remember any of the other PC's actual names to this day, though I know what I called all of them.

How do I play a schizophrenic Malkavian correctly?

I'm both fascinated and terrified by the concept of schizophrenia, but I have no real idea of what its victims actually go through. Other Malk players in the game I'm attending aren't helpful; they're almost entirely MPD Malks or women playing creepy children in grown up bodies.

>How do I play a ... Malkavian correctly?

You don't.

>I have no real idea of what its victims actually go through.

I can tell you that having one for a relative is a big old fucking pain. Always thinks people are out to get her, convinced that I'm stealing from her, even simple shit like "take your goddamn medication so you can be sane to go outside" is a chore because she's convinced it makes her hair fall out.

Recognize that the appropriate question to ask is not "how do I play a schizophrenic Malkavian believably," it is "how do I play a schizophrenic Malkavian in an entertaining way at the table."

For your latest character, what is their biggest flaw/shortcoming?

My character's is that he is a massive racist towards monstrous races and is somewhat intolerant of anything that isn't a human, dwarf, or elf.

I don't really think racism against monstrous races is that much of a shortcoming in a setting where "monstrous race" often means "murderous rapist". If your games are generally lighter in tone it might be, but you still get money and experience for killing them and fir the most part they don't form or fit into large societies, so dealing with them rarely needs to be peaceful.

The bestial figure risen from the gaping hole in the ground tries to stretch its wings but finds that it's unable, some sort of invisible barrier keeps it contained within the confines of the summoning circle. It hisses, flame licking out from between its jagged teeth, and whips its head around to face the priest who summoned it.

The other cultist seem either oblivious or unconcerned by the creature's presence, their heads remain bowed in solemn prayer while the priest in lion skin makes a strange series of clicks and pops with his mouth in between shouting what you think might be Greek, though you're not really certain.

The priest draws forth a long dagger as four men wearing nothing but white loin cloths emerge from a door in the side of the church. They hold golden crowns in their hands which seem to smoke in the early morning air, leaving a trail of mist hovering in the air after they've passed. At the sight of these crowns the summoned beast grows incensed, thrashing wildly in his containment in an attempt to break free.

Seven women step forward, rising from the crowed of cultist and falling to their knees in a rough semicircle around the priest and the summoning circle. The crown-bearers set a one of the golden headbands on each of the women and them step away, taking their places at the front of the worshipers while the priest draws forth a long dagger.

The demon, or whatever it is, has stopped thrashing now. It simply sits within its cage, every muscle in its body tensed. You get the sense it's figured out what's happening. The priest stabs the dagger into the edge of the summoning circle, breaking it, and the demon launches itself towards one of the women, the one at the apex of the semicircle. He grabs her by the shoulders, but as he opens his mouth wide something happens.

The crown on her head starts to glow, the tendrils of smoke drifting off its surface wrapping around the demon and constricting it tightly. It fights against its bindings but soon the smoke starts dragging it inwards, towards the woman's head. The demon seems to collapse, losing solidity of form, and in the space of a few seconds it's been sucked into the crown completely. Gone from this world.

The woman has by this point collapsed and started twitching in a way that rather suggest she's having a seizure, blood is pouring down her face, whether from her mouth or nose you can't tell, and you think her eyes might have rolled back in her head. The other women leap into action holding her down, but the priest and the cultist simply watch.

After several minutes the woman stops twitching, and one of the other women remove her crown. On her forehead sits a burning red symbol identical to the one you saw on the creature's chest, though much smaller. You're not sure if the symbol is actually there or if you're able to see it due to your extrasensory capabilities.

The priest, for his part, seems satisfied. He gestures, and the gaggle of women lift up their fallen cohort, carrying her off towards the church.

>Demon summoning cultist with magical crowns? No thanks. Best to step back to your car and drive home to fuck your wife.
>You need to get into that church, wait for the crowd to disperse and then try to find a window you can step through.
>These people seem to know a lot about magic and the occult. Maybe if you announced yourself they'd be willing to teach you?
>Shoot the priest. Cut off the head and the body ought to die. Whatever is happening here, it needs to be stopped.
>Write-in

>Demon summoning cultist with magical crowns? No thanks. Best to step back to your car and drive home to fuck your wife.
First for spoogies.

I have a GF. She likes all stuff fantasy and gothic and stuff, but is untouched by gaming, either tabletop or vidya.

So, I want to draw my GF into the sweet world of tabletop gaming, so when she sooner or later sees my miniature collection she's not appaled but goes "Oh, awesome!" and also so she's interested in my gaming, not getting pissed at me for not paying attention to her.

What should I start with? I was thinking some RPG, maybe a dungeon crawl, so she can get used to some minis... It's gotta be something she can do solo, preferably - she wouldn't be interested in joining a bunch of geeks at first - but it's gotta be engaging.
Wargames, even skirmish, are a no-no, since such a bunch of minis will surely scare her off.

Help me, /tg/!

A goth chick?

Run WoD for her. Maybe a solo game of Vampire. "Personal horror" works well for solo games.
>>
I wouldn't get so worked up about it. She'll either like it or won't, and there's not too much you can do to convince her otherwise. But the good news is that you don't need her to be into the same shit as you. She can still be an awesome GF with her own independent hobbies separate from you.
>>
>>43611534
not really goth, just enjoys gothic stuff from time to time.

I'm afraid to start with storytelling games. She might get too interested in them and look down at dice throwing and mini hordes.

>>43611539
I just want to make a good first impression. Dispel stereotypes, if she has them.

And yes, while I don't need her to be into it, I'm fairly sure she'd like it if I properly introduce her to gaming, and it'll be awesome.

Allies almost always seem to win when I play.

US player in my grouop (he trades with whoever is playing US specifically so he can be America, and if you don't trade places with him he moves around US pieces anyway) is almost always a dumbass and invades Spain and Turkey first chance he gets, causing all neutral nations to declare war on him, and London usually falls... yet Russia is so fucking overpowered Allies win anyway.

I got Australia (ANZACS) three times in a row last times we played and no one would trade places with me. Australia kinda sucks, you don't get to attack much, just sit back and hope Japan doesn't rape you (they're too busy losing against the fucking Chinese and Russians to care about you).

Hell, we did one where The Russians sent all their troops to Africa to fuck Italy (tactical suicide, for anyone who doesn't know, Russia needs to be raping Nazis) and Allies still won.

This game is a dumb joke.

I one-shotted my friends the first time I played Germany without having any units on England. I suicided my subs to attack England's homefleet, beat them and rolled my tanks into battle. I then built all my reinforcements on England. The US tried to dig me out but it turns out even when you don't have any units on a land it is still yours. My friends refused to talk to me for a good fifteen minutes.
