I am looking at running a Shadowrun 3rd Edition Though if there is no interest in that edition I could possibly be persuaded to run a 4th edition, though my confidence in running that is far less.

>Times Available (with timezone!)
I reside in Pacific Standard Time, which is UTC/GMT-8. I am available on:
Tuesdays after 5PM PST (1AM GMT) to 11PM PST (7AM GMT)
Fridays after 5PM PST (1AM GMT) to 1AM PST (9AM GMT)
Saturdays 1PM PST (9PM GMT) to 1AM PST (9AM GMT)
And Sundays 1PM PST (9PM GMT) to 11PM PST (7AM GMT)
There may be times where my work schedule on Tuesdays and Fridays is subject to change, so please be aware of that.

>Method of Play (Skype, IRC, roll20, etc)
Skype Text, possibly either Maptools or Roll20 if the general group consensus around those tools are positive.

>Contact Info
On skype "Hardfire" The picture should be one of a woman looking fairly surprised at something (It's a pizza, don't worry guys. Also, while I'm in parenthesis, the skype name doesn't include the quotes)

>Additional Notes
One may ask why I choose 3rd edition, and there are many answers to that. I like the system in general, but more importantly I like the setting. It's a lot easier for me to get in to the more oldschool Shadowrun that remains closer to cyberpunk than the 'newschool.' I think with 3E I can provide a much better setting for the players, and overall give everyone a more enjoyable time. That said, I did mention before if interest wasn't sufficient or demand was high, I would be willing to run 4th edition, though using the 2050 book with that would be lovely.

And if one were to ask me if the game was "Pink Mohawk" or "Black Trenchcoat" oriented, I wouldn't be able to answer. I'm running it as a moderately serious cyberpunk game, so take from that what you will. Expect the dark future of the 21st century, and all the stylish chrome, gritty streets, and corporate conspiracy that entails.

DnD 0e or old school- specifically using the White Box retroclone with some minor changes.

Not set in stone yet, but middle of the weak (Wednesday, Thursday and Friday) are the strongest contenders. Pacific time.

When it comes to stating guns, which factors need to be detailed and explicit, and which ones can be abstracted?
What factors are mandatory for you to feel invested in the gun-play?
Which factors could you care less about?

Most importantly: which aspects of the firearm effect which gameplay factors?
Capacity - obvious
Reload Speed ? Just removable mags vs. internal, or is more detail needed?
Range? Just barrel length? The bullet effects effective range, but do we want to get that detailed? Even so, what factors of the gun it's self factor in on effective range sans non-standard munitions for the weapon in question?
etc
etc

Lets not just point to other systems that do guns well here; I could copy-paste if I wanted to, but I don't. I want to talk about what is and isn't important on making guns "Feel Right." Where the line between realism, and unnecessary detail lies.

Twilight 2013 did it well.
Caliber
Capacity
Damage
Penetration within and out of optimum range
Optimum Range and Maximum Range
Rate of Fire
Speed to use the weapon (Hipshot, Snapshot, Aimed shot)
Recoil
Bulk
Weight

They're all important stats to how the game plays, and they all make each gun feel atleast a bit unique.
>>
Gonna stop you right there, OP. Sounds like you're asking for universal one-size-fits-all concordance between all of /tg/. That's not going to work.

Some faggots want everything detailed because they want to RP an operator operating operationally and revel in the /k/ness of the game.
Other faggots want everything abstracted to get it out of the way so they can describe badass Matrix/John Woo/Equilibrium gunplay moves and revel in the coolness of their character.
Most faggots want something in between those extremes, but god help you on trying to actually find a single point that everyone can agree upon.

> lets not just point to other systems that do guns well here
> LITERALLY the first post.

Interesting stuff though; what was the difference between bulk an weight?

You are Sonali Vasusena, N7, Spectre, and Commanding Officer of the SSV Nakshatra. Yesterday was likely the most eventful of your life. First, you were appointed to the Office of Special Tactics and Reconnaissance and became the second human to ever hold the position of Spectre. Then, after holding a press conference, you set about the affairs that came with being a Spectre, which included setting up your Spectre ID, selecting a ship, choosing a crew, acquiring squadmates and obtaining supplies.

Of course, you then were called in to assist with a serious terrorist attack and hostage situation and rescued a fellow Spectre, Tela Vasir. Said Spectre who then gave you a rundown on her investigation into the Human Supremacist Organization known as Cerberus and requested that you get involved. And, when you thought you might actually get a chance to relax, you were called into a meeting with Councilor Tevos. Fortunately, she was just interested in adding a Drell Assassin to your squad as she was having some issues with him.

After all that, you finally managed to get back to your ship and relax for a little while doing a some research. Up until Leo, your second in command, went a little haywire with the food dispenser. On the bright side, you managed to make a small diorama of the Cerberus Research Lab you plan to attack out of bacon strips.

Unfortunately, it appears that someone has eaten it, as it’s no longer standing when you exit your cabin on the morning of February 5th, 2184. Looking around, you see new faces around the Crew Deck. It looks like the rest of your crew has arrived.

“Hey Sona,” Leo greets you from the Galley with a mug of coffee in hand. “Looks like the crew finally arrived.”

“Hey yourself,” You respond as you take the mug of coffee from him and take a swig.

“Hey, that’s mine!” He scowls slightly as he snatches it back.

You just grin at him and walk to the galley. After synthing some coffee and a few breakfast sandwiches for yourself, you…

What planes do you, or your DMs, make use of in your/their campaigns?
366 posts and 25 images submitted.

So is it worth playing a more magic-focused Moon Druid or is it better to just jam a Concentration spell and focus on melee? The latter is probably the only ZAD class in the game and can go all feats.
>>
I don't like other planes being places you can physically go. Seems less like a seperate plane of existence and more like a weird planet
>>
>>43628289
It's generally better to go Moon Druid even if you want to be spell focused.
You can cast just as well as the Land and you have the concentration spell --> wildshape plan to fall back on if the fight goes south.

What started out as a bunch of friends playing DnD has turned into a money grabbing business.

Half of the "first hour" is always a recap of what the people have done in the previous week, they talk about movies, video games, food, literally anything other than actually getting down and playing the game.

Many of even the long-time players have no clue what they're doing Incontrol often forgets his modifiers and has to ask the gm for example, despite being on only one show, being able to open his character sheet by himself and playing for years now.

Both the current GM's have seemingly used the show to promote and better their own personal situations, adam got a job with roll20 due to the amount of fans requesting it after he applied for the job. Steven is using the show to promote his extremely broken video game.

JP is quite obviously bored with it all, nobody really cares anymore on swansong and roleplaying has just ended, the show often devolves into Erik solo fanwank with adam playing pi. Combat doesn't ever happen despite Geoff playing combat heavy characters twice now, Prosper and Erik have been decent in fights and Higgs is able to lend a hand and so can Pi, yet the GM never really allows combat to happen. They claim they want combat to be lethal but almost every encounter never ends with the pcs even being close to death, Adam just doesn't want fights and since the roleplaying is shit there's nothing to watch for really.

Dark Heresy when it ran (like all 6 sessions across 8 months or so) wasn't well done, the GM wasn't very knowledgeable on the setting and TB had to keep correcting him, this obviously caused problems as it threw a spanner in his plans. This could've been solved if the GM knew their shit or if they had discussed this ever and just asked the players to go along with any mistakes.

Neal got out fine though, he's playing D&D and still having fun, sure people have problems with how he DM's but it's obvious he cares more about playing than anybody else involved with Rollplay.

Really if you want to see friends playing D&D, having fun and some decent roleplaying as well as combat happening more than once a leap year you should just check out his channel. Of course I'm Neal and just shilling my channel on /tg/ btw

Back on the topic of swansong because I've got so much to say about it. Adam is quite obviously railroading the party at points, what could they have done to stop the warmind fucking up andoni? Nothing. He keeps bringing his AI into everything, oh you're checking out some research station? WARMIND is just there because obviously he would be. He keeps trying to get them involved with AI, early on they find a ship and an AI that is of course super important and everything, they literally tell everybody they've got an AI and no problems ever come from it because if they lose Pi they'd actually be free from the rope he has around their necks.

Oh and at least once per session Adam just roleplays with himself for a few minutes. Whether it be showing the party a "scene" that is happening far away that they'd have no possible way of viewing or talking to himself with his npcs (usually pi too, he's obsessed with this "childlike mind") and this is the only roleplaying that happens in the show, the only roleplaying is the GM talking to himself with his NPCs. Which if they're not an AI they're almost always a person of colour or somebody with an obvious non-straight sexual orientation. I understand it's a space game and thus this shouldn't be unusual, but he is always very obvious in describing the fact that they aren't white, straight and male that it's really annoying and sorta pandering.
>>
>>43628339
No kidding, when the zombie research station started and was introduced with something like "Today we're gonna do something we haven't done in a looong time: Take on a mission the community voted for" I realized how much of the sandbox setting had been left behind because Adam kept them involved in chainquests and general AI stuff.

By now the crew have gotten involved with so much high-ranking bullshit I'm surprised they're still stuck with paying off their ship. It seems like a mission goal from an entirely different setting with entirely different stakes and narrative style.

In an act not altogether dissimilar to a hanged man dropping from the gallows, you step off of the table. The filaments of silver wound round the cracked path go taught, and you feel a fundamental -shift-. The feeling is somewhere between a sharp kick in the testicles and a tearing hook behind your navel. You resist the urge to double over in pain as you are swept away on the current of the pathway. The workshop around you runs like dye spilled across a dusty field, dissolving into rivulets of color that quickly spiral out of sight.

What replaces them is—

–-

You land hard on your shoulder, slamming into warm stone. Bouncing along unseen ground, you come perilously close to tipping over some unseen cliff and starting your fall anew. You shiver, arms wrapped trembling around yourself, a thin coat of rime lining the edges of Nocturne's Embrace. There are shallow gouges in the surface of Vestus Sonitus, long parallel claw marks that mar the otherwise perfect crystal plate. Though you fight for the memories of your transition, you are disturbed to find that you cannot recall them. Only murky flashes of an utterly black field dotted by points of stark light remain.

You release your deathgrip on the cracked, sparking pathway in your hand. Here, it is much more physical. Not a pathway, you realize, but an -anchor-. There are a dozen of them strewn across the parapets around you, piercing the sun-warmed stone in uneven intervals and fading into sight above you.

You slowly climb to your feet, muscles screaming in protest as you do. You feel scorched, inside and out. The platform you've landed on lowers slowly to sit flush with the surface of the tower around, clicking into place with a resounding latch. A hum of energy renewed glows between the bricks underfoot, tracing a path further into the citadel on your right.

You stand overlooking a village that could easily be mistaken for Grisoch. A stone tower ringed by lanterns supports you, hovering in the air above and indeed occupying the same ground as the buildings below. The double-vision is painful to observe with your second sight, and you slam shut your third eye with a painful mental wrench. The stony edifice seems to very nearly exist in overlapping the village below you.

The motes of light floating on the air leave no doubt. You've crossed the veil. But whose sanctum is this?

You take a step forward. A soft sibilant sussuration beneath the heel of Cloudwalker Stride catches your attention. A scrap of paper, torn and burnt at the edges with Ayren's unmistakable handwriting.

A trail.

A stone-paved walkway leads away from the vast landing platform you've come to rest atop. The tower to your right bears a vast set of double doors. You spy another scrap of paper wedged into the closed doorway, fluttering gently in the evening (?) breeze.

You are Osyki, journeyman Totemist and first line of defense for your village against the rabid Behemoths wandering the land. Your master, the previous Totemist, fell in a battle against a terrible Behemoth, leaving the duty of defending your settlement to you. You have returned home to Grisoch after a lengthy trip abroad. Some experimentation by your apprentices has weakened the veil between your Workshop and whatever lies beyond. They have been taken from you. You intend to reclaim them.
