What do you think the world game such as dead zone and dust tactics which split the battlefield into 'zones' rather than mess around with true line of slight and measuring a distance? Thereby pre-empting any debates on line of fire.

My biggest problem with Dust Tactics is that the mecha designs are really boring, because they just look exactly like WW2 tanks with legs.
If you're not gonna go all out and stylize your mechs, stick to regular tanks.

The theme is a diesel punk World War II ascetic that with mechas. They are just going to be vertical tanks. You can either take it or leave it.

I hate true line of sight, but that has nothing to do with measuring distance and zoning the battlefield or not, all you need to not have to deal with the shit that is TLOS is area terrain rules, done.
About splitting the game into squares etc, it's way too boardgamey, at that point you might as well just use brightly coloured tokens and have a flat printed board without features.
If I wanted to play chess with plastic army men and tanks I would, I think you're shooting yourself in the foot...

Given that there's no 5e material yet, besides those minimal footnotes in the player's handbook, what are some potential changes that could be made to accomodate it? I feel like Edge of the Empire would be better for characters focused on surviving and getting to the next job a la Firefly, but I also feel like Star Wars is a power fantasy and grittiness and realism wouldn't necessarily be that fun in this universe.
Then again, it would be cool to explore the darker parts of Coruscant or get in a bar fight on Tatooine.

They're pretty fun. There is overlap between the books but each one also has unique enemies, equipment and character trees. They all work together easily, its really up to you to decide what you want to use in your game.
I use everything in my games because its a game about hair metal Jedi fighting the empire with the power of rock but you may want to restrict it for yourself.

Elves are fictional, so hating them can be racist or entirely justified or even some combination of both.
In a fantasy realm I don't think racism is a pushing social issue. Draw certainly deserve disdain. For real life opinions, hating fiction has no consequences so I don't think it counts as anything to hate dark elves.

To note as well that Pokemon is one of the only jumps that offers that blank slate option. The two jumps where memory overload can be a major issue, Transformers and Darksiders, both don't.

I've GMed some Fate Accelerated, played some as well. Our campaign was about urban fantasy demon hunters, with tongue-in-cheek presentation.

The system is insanely adaptable, and it handles improvisation well. If you have players who can think on the fly you'll have a good time.

The mechanics are all the same under the hood, so it doesn't feel like you accomplish anything by narrating differently.
The game falls flat if players are bad at thinking up aspects and controlling the narrative.
You need a shitton of sticky notes for everything.
