What campaign ideas do you have mulling around, /5eg/?
>>44327919
I've always loved Eberron, but never really got a chance to play in it. I ran a 3.5 game once back in the day, but it didn't last too long.
I'm curious to see how well it'll mesh into 5e's milieu.
5e emphasizes magic item rarity, as opposed to the more commonplace magic of 3e, but this might actually increase the importance of the Dragonmarks - in 3e they have you a few SLAs; handy but nothing a few scrolls couldn't handle or a full caster couldn't blow out of...

So long as you get away from 3.5e's focus on numerical bonuses on gear, I think 5e could handle a setting like Eberron fairly well. Characters just end up having more versatility and doodads compared to standard 5e, which leads to interesting playstyles in itself.
So if my setting makes use of Witcher series-like oils and potions, and the party needs to be prepared to take on monsters, would it be silly for oils to imbue similar effects to spellcasters if they slather their foci/holy symbols in oil as well?
I'm having a hard time coming up with an analogue for spellcasters.
Your people have always been a simple folk. But you are smarter and more cunning than your brothers and sisters. Once your father died you claimed the title of chief, no one opposed you because of your skills as a Hunter and Tactician You are J’amp Guud Big Chief of the bullywugs. You will lead your tribe to control the Swamps, or die trying.

this game needs a couple of pre-built quests...there was one guy working on one based on a Rogue Trader questline, and someone suggested they'd make Shadowruns FoodFight adventure in this system.

Can Double from Skullgirls be an example of a Lunar Chimera?
What can you roll for intimidate? I'm thinking of a hideous character with 5 appearance and some presence charms.
Does your group have a no girlfriends/no boyfriends rule?
PCed in a few campaigns where the DM's girlfriend was in the party. She was just as much a tabletop veteran as he, took it just as seriously, there was no problem.
DMed a couple campaigns where the players were dating irl, so they had their characters end up together, too. Added some extra drama /comic relief to the campaign without derailing the quest(s) at hand.
I wish I could, but I'd lose three of my players if I did that. Seriously, this guy brought his GF to a Dark Heresy campaign and she knows nothing about 40k. Never have met a tech-priest who is so willing to tamper with technology.
Maybe it's a ruse and she's secretly a heretek, but I doubt it.
Since my boyfriend and I co-DM, that would work out badly.
How do i deal with this player who is dead set on playing a elf with the appearance of a ten year old child? I've offered him many different choices but he is adamant he wants to play a child.

>>44313315
Give him all the penalties that go along with it, I guess. Huge penalty to wisdom, also reduced strength/dex/con/whatever your system equivalent is. And not just mechanical penalties. NPCs don't respect him, ignore his advice, etc
If the elf looks like a child, it is a child. Don't let him say "oh but I have 60 years of experience and look like I'm 6." Elves either take ages to grow to adulthood, or they mature at human speed, then remain at early adulthood for ages. In either case,...

A 14th-level dragon sorcerer aarakocra can sprout dragon wings on top of having a set of normal wings. Discuss.
I'm pretty sure the movement would be the same but hey, two sets of wings can look pretty intimidating.
Should I bother trying to make a paladin to an evil god?
Gods of all shades have clerics, sure. But what about paladins? The oath tenets in the PHB are almost universally good, or at least neutral. Devotion and Ancients would need to be totally replaced, although Vengeance would just need to take things less literally, such as considering what obstacle to your cause is the greater "evil", even if it's torn between stealing the kitten ebola cure or kicking the winner of the Orphan Cup. As far as SCAG material, a few of the optional tenets could work, and the Crown tenets are all neutral anyways.
What would be the best way to play a paladin of an evil god? Trying to burn everything and cause despair isn't suitable, and isn't good for most gods in the long term. Should they be "good" and try to seduce others to their cause, Chancellor Palpatine style? This might fit someone pledged to, say, Asmodeus, and you could have out metaphorical pamphlets about how he lent you such great power and anyone can hop on the nine-hells express to have a guaranteed seat in the afterlife.
What about more mercurial evil gods, like Umberlee? Might a paladin be less of an auxiliary cleric and more of a walking force of judgement, taking as they will for their god's machinations as much as their own, as the god has blessed them because they predicted their usefulness?
>>44296881
Nobody is evil just for the sake of being evil. The concept of knowingly serving an "evil" god is flawed to begin with.

Stop, you're killing me!
I just started playing this recently, taking a break from MTG cause of the crazy prices this standard. I picked up the green starter deck that released recently.I know a little about how the standard clusters work and how they have slower rotations but I had a few questions for longer players.
How much is a competitive FoW deck gonna run me?
same question for casual upgrades? I'm looking into gretel, elvish priest and fiesthing for my green deck already, which will run about ~30$ (CDN)
How are they with banning cards?

I think someone said you could build a competitive deck from nothing for less than 100 bucks
I don't think they've banned any cards yet, however there is only one format called New Frontiers which includes the Grimm block and the ongoing Alice block.
A few sets ago they were having translation problems so a few cards in Grimm have significant english errata.
It used to be awful at competitive levels because one specific deck/ruler was dominating the meta.
Since then they have taken great...

So is liquid bravery pretty much mandatory for brewmaster? Because it seems really fucking good.
>>44278930
Thematic, but I think mostly situational. You want it for the WP boost for minions when you're facing stuff like Neverborn that target it heavily, but the tradeoff on Brewmaster is that it's a 0 action so it competes with Drinking Contest.
