Namely, I want to find a way to replace DnD's magic system by using mana or spell points instead, but I run into a few problems. If you give too many points a level it makes levels insignificant, but if you give only 1 then it makes using higher level spells extremely expensive, and makes it harder to spam low level spells.
Could an alternate way to deal with this be including things like magical fetishes that refund spells cast or can store a certain amount of magic points?

You could have the spell costs static and scaling per spell level listed in your sourcebook or something like that. And then either every turn, or when they take an action to channel/pray/whatever, they build up a number of mana scaling to their stat and/or level.

It's less about the limiting and more about making them useful and more balanced at all times. Yes, they do regenerate mana over time and if they stand still and 'charge' they can get a single mana point to spend on something, such as a blast or magical spell that they lack just 1 point for.

I've worded up the wife to get me Team Yankee for Christmas. A few of the locals here in canberra are talking about playing it in 6mm. Not to sure if i'll jump on that band wagon or not. Thoughts?

Hey /tg/, I've started running a game for a couple people new to RPGs, and i'm a fairly inexperienced DM myself. Does anyone have any tips or tricks for flying by the seat of my pants? Despite my planning for a session, something always goes a different or strange way, how do I cope without this? I don't want to railroad and I feel I could be running it better.

read through rule book a few times and am currently just building a hometown, BBEG lair, main hub, and littering the rest of the landscape with mini dungeons.
I'd recommend just generating a short list of monsters before every game with the necessary stats for an encounter. Skellingtons, wolves, goblins, whatever you think they can handle

They can be detected, escaped, avoided, and identified fairly easily (save for genestealers, of course). It's physically possible, though impossibly unlikely, for the Imperium to separate themselves completely from both, and exist alone.
