I really want to be a subsistence farmer. But I also want to mine and smelt iron. I probably can't handle either. Plus modern society prefers people who work as one cog in a machine so some rich asshole or bureaucrat can live his unfulfilling sedentary life. Is there anyway to achieve my dreams /r9k/? Pic somewhat related.
Start by putting in a garden or contributing to a community garden. This will let you know how much work it takes to grow food and if you'd even like to do it.
Often I think about this too, but I know a bit about how hard this is and won't be doing it anytime soon
You could probably do both but you'd need to start out in an area where there is actually iron.
