I have always avoided touching the ground when pavement was available. In fact, there is an arrangement of pedestrian and bicycle paths and roads in my city that, as far as I remember, owing to a certain narrow combination of edges makes it, strictly speaking, necessary to take twice as long or so a path to traverse it to the letter. So, for example, I can move my eyes independently of one another, wiggle my ears, and speed up and slow down my heartbeat at will. And I also have some minor control over my thermoregulation, meaning I can turn my body's thermostat up and down so that I can be comfortable in both hot and cold weather. There are people who focus specifically on mastering thermoregulation through meditation, a discipline called "tummo," who can sit naked in the snow and be perfectly comfortable (see pic).
So why aren't you meditating yet, robots? If you need help, most major cities have a meditation centre to help, and they won't turn anyone away. If finances are a problem, most roshis (teaching masters) will accept a respect offering (like a bowl of oranges) as an alternative to money.
