Being a huge weaboo, my New year's resolution was to draw weeb to draw everyday. I've never drawn before but I've been able to follow my resolution so far. But I'm still far from being good, so if y'all can offer some help that'll be useful. Currently trying to get good at faces. Attached is a doodle I did like a few weeks ago

This old work/new work meme is shit. It just leads to cherrypicking images and misrepresenting timelines. Besides, anybody who is good was once shit, so you know that they made a progression. There's literally no point in making one of those progression images except to stroke your own cock and hope others lap it up.

Yup. You really hit it hard with the skeletons from 3rd grade. And those monster faces you drew really came to define you as an artist. I don't like this new stuff at all.

What do you write on your about me page of your website or tumblr? I don't know if I should even make one. Some people don't even have one and i feel like a self absorbed faggot for thinking it's even important.

give me examples of a good one, or yours.

I have just started practicing drawing for real. I want to improve my currently nonexistent skills and be able to create OC one day. Do you guys recommend me to practice drawing OCs right from the start? Or should I spend a good long time just attempting eyesight copying artists I like??
6 posts and 1 images submitted.
>>
>>2568059
The best thing is the one that will give you the least burn out. If you like drawing OCs more then you'll have more passion for it and likely more improvement and will to keep practicing and learning.
>>
also if you implement your OCs in your studies you'll probably get more invested in both of them.
>>
>>2568059
>attempting eyesight copying

Not necessarily. You should never copy, but study. Study from life and understand how things work. Drawing OCs will keep the motivation up but it's important to supplement it with actual learning work (i.e. the work nobody wants to do).

Someone deleted the new masters academy thread, probably because it looked a lot like shilling.

I coudn't ask the questions I want answered:

>Can you buy a subscription and share the account with other people? How do subscription websites control this? Is it allowed?

I was subscribed to Schoolism for a while but my account was personal and never shared.

honestly I was disappointed. A lot of explaining on nma not a lot of serious demonstration. Especially for painting.

It's not allowed because there is IP tracking. Literally says that when you go sign up. 2nd get a job.

Are the videos easy to rip? I plan to subscribe for one month just to do this.

Every red circle represents a perspective error. The problem that he has is that he draws what he thinks a hand, boob, or a leg looks like. He's using his mind to draw not his eyes. In the book keys to drawing they point this out with an excise. The excise goes like this: Draw a pepper from your mind, don't look up any references. Everyone knows what a pepper looks like, right? It can't be that hard, right? After you drew the pepper from your mind go to google/your kitchen and look at the pepper then draw the pepper by looking at. Post results :)

that's not what I meant... I meant that how can you know how to draw a hand if you have never practiced drawing a hand from a reference.

Rotate and resize your fucking images edition

Because we should not have to make new threads or post in draw threads with our fundamental exercises.
Feel free to post even the smallest exercise you have done to show you are still trying, do not give up, make your mom proud.

AVOID asking unrelated questions, there is a question thread for that.

Visit the usual "Artbook Thread" to find your desired books. (Or look in the new sticky)

Do not forget to PLEASE RESIZE and crop your images before uploading them. 1kpx is fine.

→ →
There's a new sticky in town! You can see it at:

>Thread study: Try to draw/paint the opening or any other following images.
Feel free to post your original works as well if you're trash.

TRY TO BE MORE ACTIVE AND GIVE PEOPLE SOME FEEDBACK - many studies are left unreplied, which is a bit sad and can be quite demotivating for the people that try their best to improve, but are left directionless.

Does anyone else feel a major stiffness when they draw? Like your hand feels all rigid and everything you draw seems so bland, stiff and lifeless?

I'm still learning, as all artists do, but unless I'm drawing porn for myself (no, I won't post anything) or make a rare good practice sketch, I have trouble with even simple doodles.

I want to feel the same "freedom" and "freedom of spirit" I had when I was a kid and that I see all of my art friends and many other great artists have. I just get so hesitant and so intimidated. I can't even color for god's sake. Is it because I think of art as a career or a job, now?

Maybe I have depression? Maybe I have OCD? I do have legit diagnosed autism, though, and am a bit of a perfectionist when it comes to work.

maybe it's just not for you

you sound more fascinated with being an artist rather than doing what artists do
>>
As you allready figured it out by yourself, this is more or less mental problem which have (probably) nothing to do with drawing itself.

Even if you would get Jaime Jones' skills over the night, you would feel the same because skill is not problem in your case.

So... spend some time for yourself, ask yourself what do you like, what would you like to become,...

The difference between your problem and problem of someone who feels the same, but because of lack of skill is that eventualy the other guy will get confidence and selfrespect. You wont solve this problems by gaining drawing skills, but mental. Which is 100 times harder.

Good luck man.

Get sheets of paper and marker and beat it up with strokes and circles till you no longer feel stiff. Show that piece of paper who wears the pants.
