What is the greatest sins of art?
I vote for video games due to its extremely distractive nature. Even hard drugs like heroin can still make an artist focus and work.
Example: Togashi. He's too busy playing ragnarok to the point he just bails on HxH

How about instead of wasting time and talking shit you actually draw something.

When doing gesture drawings, what's the most important thing to capture?
I'm currently taking a life drawing course, and I'm really struggling with getting something down on paper before the model moves onto the next pose (the model is walking across the room, so the pose is changing constantly), mainly because I don't really know what to do most of the time.
>what's the most important thing to capture?
'the gesture'
Basically the idea is to get a readable mark that tells you exactly what they were doing when you captured it. While there is an art to making really appealing gestures, the appeal isn't the end goal for most. The end goal is usually having an understandable mark that you can build off of later, preferably one that captures (or as some people say, exaggerates / animates) the motion of the pose.
The pictures you showed aren't that appealing, but I think they're perfectly functional. If you were trying to draw a figure drawing later on without the model, I think there's enough information to create it from if you had a decent understanding of anatomy.
I think the big thing is getting the hang of finding a good line of action. Many poses you can capture it in one or two lines and then build on it from there. Usually for me I try to find one for the torso and then try to depict the chest and hips with two circles along that line (that sort of 'bean' method), and I find it's easier to build the limbs and head from the torso rather than build from the head.

>what's the most important thing to capture?
Line of action (in red), think of the shape the figure creates (blue), flow (every artist has a their way of doing it so study them all and develop your own way of doing it)
So... I was drawing for 2-3 years now... And, recently I tried getting into digital art. I got my cousin's old tablet... And it turned out to be shit (SilverCrest) now I am searching for a new tablet... Sooo,.. Since I am a guy that doesn;t have a lot of money, I need something that I can afford. So, /ic/, do you have any recommendations for tablets that are cheap and somewhat good? :V
>>2372475
Buy a wacom intuos 3/4 if you can find one. I have used graphite back then and it works well. I really don't know anything about the bamboo lines though.
>>2372475
if for drawing, never go for the small options, never
It depends on your skill level of course.
You don't nessecarily have to go for a Wacom.
I have a Medion tablet that has about the size of A4 and it works well for me.
Huion doesn't seem too bad.
well im not good at drawing/painting/ etc
but i had an idea, what if i ask the internets to help with my artistically challenged ass. Ive always tried to draw and paint but never got good at it.
well im trying
so i made a ,shitty, but my effort piece.I wanna see if other people can make something of it
take this idea and give me something beautiful.
ps: baked so i will find anything beautiful at this point
btw a good playlist to paint to high or not XD

Dear /ic
I made this using a pencil, and i have made other drawings like it, but i never use coleurs as I dont know much about using them. Any clue as to which coleurs would work for this style? any advice would be appreciated
Best Regards
>coleur
you can color it with gouache
>>2371589
you can use basically anything
marker
guache
water color
depends on how much of the line do you want to retain it's crisp look
>>2371589
i cant give advice on color, but i just wanted to say that drawing is p cool

hey guys ! i need some opinion about my work
so please tell me !
>>2372719
Work on your outlines.
Work on your size proportions.
Work on your depth....
Well, pretty much every fundamental.
I like it tho, it's not a masterpiece, but i like it. What is it for? A decoration?

Post your current drawing here and give constructive critique to others!
Please make sure your posted image is clear, downsized to around 1000 pixels wide, rotated to the correct orientation, and that any unused space is cropped.
If you want critique on a drawing from the previous thread, you can delete it there and repost in this one.

I can barely tell what that is except for the road and two trees. The rest is just messy dots and lines. Sorry for being harsh but thats exactly what it is.

>>2372398
werent you in the self promotion thread a second ago
It's too soft. Gives me a headache.
>>2372398
it's pointless. Get your out of the clouds Momo.
How do you get used to drawing on a tablet? I tried to use one but it felt so disorienting to draw there and your picture appears elsewhere. I mean, of course the obvious answer is "practise", but thats dumb, who practises anything ever?
>>2371719
You won't even notice when you got hang of it
It's like stroking your penis. After a while you will get used to the disorientation.
Two things.
One: What time of day do you feel is your most productive time of working on art?
With me it'd have to be at night. It's near impossible for me to do anything productive soon after I wake up except for menial tasks. At night I feel a lot sharper, its a lot more quiet, and I just feel like I can focus more.
Two: Has /ic/ ever tried making an art group Skype meetup? I understand that there'd be a few assholes that you'd have to weed out. But I feel like if you see your peers working on stuff in real time it'd make you want to work on your own artistic endeavors. If there were a few regular people that could skype up on a regular basis, we could all benefit from it.
But idk if the page has ever tried something like this or if it has, what the results were. I'd be willing to try it out if enough people were interested.
>>2371518
The Skype group is ridiculous weeks later you will still be banning the same retards from your twitter, instagram and deviantart

show level of work
>>2371686
Worked on this last night. Probably not the best indication of my skills since its more of a fun project I decided to do. But... Meh
Only just learning photoshop, but I've made these two things i'm pretty proud of. I'll post the new image in a reply to this.
Give any feedback, lads
(desu i just wanted to share this)

Look edgy try less hard or make it extremely shit funny
Content. Get some ideas
A rage thread devoted to a fucking moron that still can't name the proper price of his illustrations.
I was making this one bigass illustration for one game that i was working on for months. An illustration contains a detailed background and many characters and shit like that.
I named the price today... 110$ dollars.
110$ fucking retarded dollars. And i sent that message already.
It's true that people say that eurofaggots ruining art-market. Im from a poor-ass town from europe. 110 is a nice amount of money here. My grandmother will appreciate those money.
But goddamn. The actual price is way higher. I guess it's around 300$ actually... But no.
This retarded faggot of myself said "110$ please Sir! xDDDD".
1) i really need money
2) client really LOVED my work
3) im a pro artist (no proof)
4) but a dumbass who still can't professionally name the price even if he's 29 and working as artist for more than 6 years.
This why we can't have nice things.
Don't be like me.
>>2371144
You need to learn the ways of the chosen people, your greatest ally and friend.
>>>/pol/
>>2371150
Care to explain?
Your crappy "le /pol/" meme wont work here.
It's never totally negative, there you have a commissioned good portfolio piece to show, next time bid higher for that kind of work, it's a fact you're now further than before, even if the bid/payment was shit
If you're desesperated and have money issues, then it's helping you anyways while you progress
Artists are at a huge disvantage to bussiness their work, as we're our worse critics, so it fucking sucks, when you're moral is low you're willing to set yourself shit deals like that, best thing you can do is to make estimations when your confidence is high, or force yourself to build it up before taking any decision
we have to force ourselves to negotiate, communicate it and bid higher
hey /ic/
