/mu/ fag signing in,

Just go on there for soundcloud threads really. My artwork is created by some artist I forgot the name of... [pic related]

Should I make my own art? I'm not really the artistic type.

Someone recently brought up the point to me that the graphic is the first thing people notice so art plays a huge roll...

You should definitly try make your own art, see how it turns out. Post here.
>>
>>2370440
sure, make your own art, dont expect it to be any good for a long time though. Its probably better if you keep using peoples arts until youve learnt or just focus on your music

Haha damn people still use that program? I hope you didn't pay money for that.

Look around for a competent illustrator, photographer or painter depending on what you're looking for and commission them, they'll probably ask for a couple hundred.

Look for people with an extensive body of RECENT work to make sure they have the work ethic to deliver it in a timely matter. Be sure to ask them how long it took them to make their stuff if they don't have a lot of produced content. Stay away from fine arts students, college age degenerate kids too. Unless you're one of them with tattoos and dress like a hooligan, they won't take your work seriously either.

Can study of theory fundamentals and anatomy for too long hinder creative ability?

Obviously these things are important, but I sometimes wonder if there aren't dangers in going too far in the other direction.

Here's my take,

You're supposed to study the foundations of art in order for you to have a solid understanding on what you want to draw or paint. It gives you a nice workflow since you know how the theory works.

It's similar to the foundation of any structure. You must have a solid foundation in order for the structure to stand firmly. A weak foundation might make the the building collapse halfway during the construction or will have a sloppy product afterwards.
>>
>>2370194
If that's all you're doing? Yes. Creativity, like all things, is something you need to work at. Think of it as a muscle; if you don't give it some work, it's going to atrophy. If you haven't used it at all, don't expect it to be strong.
>>
No it won't hinder your creative ability it will just halt it's progression
However if you're really retarded and listen to far too much Feng Zhu you'll probably develop a less creative way of thinking

Does anybody have the progression image of someones drawing of General Ackbar where it goes from drawing with alot of character to boringly over rendered 3d looking concept art?

What to do when your wrist and the point of your middle finger are hurting but you have a lot to draw?

Ice your hand, keep it straight, don't use it for a few days. After that, make sure to do your stretches before, during, after drawing sessions. Remember to draw from your elbow and shoulder, never your wrist.

Carpal Tunnel will fuck you up if you don't watch out.
>>
>>2369434
You tell whoever you have to draw for that you can't, and then you relax the fuck out of that hand.

When old people say that young people (In this case, young is not just 15 year olds) think they're immortal, I'm increasingly coming to realize that they don't mean "You're doing stupid dangerous shit" all the time, but also that they frequently don't take care of themselves and end up with injuries. If you draw, don't give yourself Carpal Tunnel, because then you'll end up in far more trouble than skipping a few days of drawing you have to do.
>>
>>2369434

Aside from what the others have said about resting, this might also be a good time to re-evaluate your grip. A lot of artists does some weird kind of death grip thing with their pencil and that promotes tension and down the road pain and injury.

Thread for the beginners

Because we should not have to make new threads or post in draw threads with our fundamental exercises. Feel free to post even the smallest exercise you have done to show you are still trying, do not give up.

Do not forget to PLEASE RESIZE and crop your images before uploading them. 1kpx is fine.

→ → → → Before asking "what should I read/view/study/learn," Read the f*cking sticky, it's there for a reason: >>1579290 → → → → →

Questions go in the QUESTION THREAD
This is for posting studies & getting critique.

>Thread study: Try to draw/paint the opening or any other following images.
Feel free to post your original works as well if you're a baddie.

TRY TO BE MORE ACTIVE AND GIVE PEOPLE SOME FEEDBACK - many studies are left unreplied, which is a bit sad and can be quite demotivating for the people that try their best to improve, but are left directionless. (hint: post a cute anime girl if you would like replies)

Respect those giving you advice and if you s*ck know that you'll never make itâ„¢.

What are some amazing books out there on how to draw animals? Something like Hampton's "Figure Drawing: Design and Invention", but for animals. I know Vilppu has one, which is great. But any more great sources?

I like fantasy, sci-fi, and medieval stuff. I do. It's fun to draw.

But honestly, I'd take art a lot more seriously, and I'd want to really express myself artistically and start flexing my creativity, if the REAL art scene wasn't so terrible. You know what I mean?

We have this pathetic joke called Modern Art. And it's inescapable. It's the gold standard now, for some idiotic reason.

My aspirations now are just to make art for the entertainment design industry. But imagine if art was actually still respected worldwide? People would genuinely want dreams of furthering art and elevating it to new heights, as the masters of old once did.

"Nobody knows what REAL art is. Art is a noble pursuit meant for people who DESERVE it. I aspire to bring forth a new age for art, and make it respected once again!"

Fuuuck you! Art is not a pinnacle of mankind that has been brought down by heathens, you god damn hipster. It's a medium that has many different varieties, enjoyed by many different people in many different ways.

Art should have a positive impact on culture, if it doesn't, it's not significant. The objective value of art is that it was used to help society in the past.

Welcome to art

I have an odd problem. With every passing day i am getting worse and worse in drawing, it got to the point that i cant draw a head. I feel like a retarded child who tries to do his best. Maybe I am, but why now? It wasnt an issue a few years back. I am trying to "rediscover drawing" aka going to the basics but still i am failing miserably. What the fuck happened
