What's better doing:
>a train to failure set (as in I start with my max weight and decrease the weight without resting until I can't lift anything with baby weight) or
>doing 4 sets with the same weight or
>building up to my max as in the first set doing for example 12 sets of something normal for me, then 5 of something heavy and finally 3 or 2 of my max and trying to increase it overtime.

Which is better for progressing overtime in both muscle and strength

probably the last two are better for strength than the first one just because once you get to the bottom of the ladder of drop sets, you're really training endurance more than anything else. I imagine that's pretty good for building muscle though
>>
You should train 10 reps of 1bodyweight first, then 9 reps, all until 1 rep.

Then repeat until 10 again.
>>
You be training at 70-80% of your 1RM for reps and increasing by 5 pounds every workout. When you fail, drop 15 pounds and repeat.

Hey guys, I'm just wondering how you found motivation to lose weight. I'm 5'5" and I weigh 175 lbs... I'm definitely chubby and I'm sick of it but I can't seem to motivate myself to change my diet or hit the gym regularly. I keep telling myself "well I'm not THAT fat" or "some guys like chubby girls right?" How did you all begin the weight loss journey?

Realize a fraction of the time you spent playing vidya, had you used it effectively, would have left current you richer, fitter, happier, more interesting, healthier and with a better sex life.

It's not just lifting, it's life that's passing you by, and being fit is a foundation of it.

Sort your fucking life out mate. There's not long left.

Keep lifting until the urge to off yourself subsides

Hello, first time posting on /fit/

I searched the sticky for info on energy drinks and whatnot, didn't find anything. If I missed it... OOPS!

Anyway, so the topic of this post is... energy drinks. What I want to know is, are there REALLY any serious adverse side effects to drinking these? A brief medical background of me:

>20, male
>No heart problems ever
>really no health problems except for being overweight and having shit sleep-hygiene
>Don't drink, smoke, do drugs, shit like that; I don't even drink soda anymore and only rarely drink coffee
>Recently got a gym membership and go for an hour 1-3 times a week (definitely need to work on that)
>no job yet but the one I will soon be working at is 3rd shift (7:00PM - 7:00AM)

The ONLY type of energy drink I have is the one in the thread pic: low carb Monster.

I'm not sure if this will scare anyone or not but I usually drink 1-2 of those a day... yeah.

I came here looking for some sort of consensus on this, I've heard from some that it's terrible for you, from some that it's relatively harmless, from some that it gives you cancer, and my parents won't stop begging me to quit.

At this point I don't really feel a "spike" in energy or a "crash" afterwards, I don't even feel addicted, I just always liked carbonated drinks and I stopped drinking soda because of the insane sugar and calories (the monster I drink has really low sugar, carbs, and calories per serving).

So with all that in mind, what is /fit/'s consenus? Please educate me on this matter, thanks.

I mean they're not gonna kill you, but they are very bad for you. Just drink coffee or take caffeine pills instead.
>>
>>37089727
Tldr; if you're serious about making it you would cut energy drinks out
>>
>>37089753
Thing is, I don't really drink them for energy, I drink them for the taste. I guess I just have to get over that desire then.

Hey /fit/, I've kind of come to the realization that I'm an incredibly boring person, and I'm wondering how this will effect my relationships with women.

I'm a writer and I work from home, and my hobbies mainly consist of reading and writing, and that's it. I'm very fit, and I work out regularly, and I'm independently wealthy and I live alone in my own home. I don't consider myself unattractive, and I'm a very happy person; but I am very boring.

I spend my whole day doing what I love, which is again, just sitting around all day reading, day dreaming, and writing, but I almost never leave my home because of this. I don't necessarily care for going out, and I definitely don't like partying or clubbing.

As you might have guessed, I have few friends, but this is fine with me as I tend to find most people to be distractions. Regardless, I would like to have a girlfriend or possibly get married one day (I think so, anyway) and I'm wondering, how unattractive is my lifestyle to women? Are there any girls on earth who would enjoy just lounging around with me all day and reading? Are there any girls who would find my lifestyle attractive or at least interesting? What and how would I have to change to make me less boring? What do? Help pls.

Sorry if I sound autistic btw, I don't get a lot of social interaction.

Pic unrelated.

get some simple carbs within 30 minutes after your workout
Hot shower to send blood through your body
>>
>>37089318
I do a cold then hot to clean then back to cold shower how does the heat effect your blood what so ever though
>>
Eat! before during and after. Your blood sugar is out of wack. and there's no reason to take extremely hot or cold showers.

Opinions on belts?

I feel like they more than anything limit my mobility, especially when doing high bar squats. Despite the increased abdominal pressure, I lift less with them.
But they sure are GOAT on deadlifts tho.

Are belts memes, or am I just not used to them?
