OK guys I hope you can help me out. 2 weeks ago I started jumping rope for my cardio, but it wasn't until a couple hours ago that I realised that I'm doing so much shit wrong. First of all I was used to just running at 8km/h for 30 mins before I started jumping rope and didn't realise the only way to jump rope is through breaks, so all I was doing was set a 30min countdown and I was just jumping as much as I could and every time I was losing my streak I would take a breath or two and do it again. Also I wasn't even doing a jump per spin, I was doing two jumps per spin which according to many fitness youtubers is a rookie mistake. Seems like that has created some fucking blisters on my feet right now. So I was wondering, how should I jump rope? All I want is to burn some calories, not learn any kind of fancy tricks. Hodgetwins suggest doing 1 jump per spin with two - which is the regular - for a minute, take a short break and this whole thing 30 times. So it's 30 minutes of pure jumping rope + the breaks. But I'm still a beginner and I don't feel like I can do it for that long, especially with 1 jump/spin, so I was wondering what other combinations could be good. Maybe 60 sets of 30 sec jump rope with 20 sec rest? What do you suggest guys?

Jumping rope is shit, you're better off running if you want cardio
>>37458552
It's not shit.
You may not gain so much cardio as running, but improves your coordination.
>>37458552
do you have anything to contribute on jumping rope apart from this off-topic comment or not? If not, shoo shoo of my thread, I kinda need some advice here.
I like this shit, just post your goals thins blah blah

Would it be possible to go from 55 to 100kg in a few years?
You could do that in 2 years and gain mostly lean mass depending on your height.

Insane.
I'm 21, and since I turned 18 I only managed to put on 10kgs.

Anyone here tape their wrists for a workout, specifically an arm workout? What are some of the benefits/downsides?
your wrists wont grow if you tape them
the wrist joint is relatively weak and less stable
(inc ROM vs stability)
when stressed enough you may feel long term discomfort at the immobile joints
leading to
a: dont be a bitch a tape for low weight
b: if its a heavy day and you feel like you do need it go for it
I dip my penis to boiling oil. It prevents all of the bitches sucking in off when I get an arm pump. I've heard that if you feather it and tie it with rope to horse and spanking the horse it will help aswell.
How important are biceps?
My lifts with all my other muscles are good and I see myself making progress as time goes on, but my biceps are weak and doesn't take much to over work. I feel them growing but my lifts aren't reflecting it. My biggest fear is that my arms will look weird if my biceps don't match the aesthetics of my triceps.
Thoughts, /fit/?
Anyone else have some kind of weird anatomy dyslexia and have no idea what the difference between bicept and tricep and all the other muscle groups are? I literally can't tell even with pictures with diagrams. How do I know if my triceps are bigger than my biceps or something, it's too confusing for me lol

/fit, do you do cardio? And if so, what is it?
I do a lot of running.
And by running, I mean sprinting to the bench press station before that one asshole who likes to do DB flys on the bench station gets to it, even though we have like 5 free benches right next to the DB rack.
run to school instead of taking bus.
used to be slower but now im faster.

is roflmao 2pl8 bench for 5 reps a respectable lift?
>>37457345
yes, thats approaching elite level lift. Great job, OP. You have made it.
I'd just like to interject for a moment. What you’re referring to as "Bench", is in fact, Press/Bench, or as I’ve recently taken to calling it, Press plus Bench. Bench is not a lift unto itself, but rather another free component of a fully functioning Press system made useful by 3x10, 5x5, and vital system components such as max weight baby.
Many lifters run a modified version of the Press system every day, without realizing it. Through a peculiar turn of events, the version of Press which is widely used today is often called “Bench", and many of its users are not aware that it is basically the Press system, developed by the Press Project. There really is a Bench, and these people are using it, but it is just a part of the lifts they use.
Bench is the movement: the part of the lift that allocates the muscular resources to make it light weight baby. The movement is an essential part of a lift, but useless by itself; it can only function in the context of lifting big to get big c'mon. Bench is normally used in combination with the overhead lifting system: the whole system is basically Press with Bench added, or Press/Bench. All the so-called “Bench" lifts are really lifts of Press/Bench.
I've been lifting almost 5 years and haven't BB benched more than 105kg for 5.
That was 2 years ago, I don't barbell bench heavy anymore, I just do DB bench, which I do 40kg 3x10 now.
I can barely bench 90kg for 5 with a barbell now, but I don't give a shit because its a retarded lift that takes people to snap city.
Anyone else in here who doesn't believe in strength?
You can lift whatever weight you want if you really 100% want to. Its all in your head and just a limiting believe if you are "too weak" for a certain weight that you want to lift.
I mean there is literally no scientific proof that strength really exists.
And think about it... all succesful strength sport athletes are mental rocks, they have the mental strength to lift heavy and its absolutely nothing to do with being "physically strong". They just trained to overcome their limiting believes.
>>37457265
0/100 b8.
Fucking pathetic
>>37457265
Obviously the 50kg chink powerlifters have less mental gainz than the fatty mcfat heavyweights that pull 1kg more.
Explain?
Is this why retards are so strong? Because they don't realise there are socially acceptable strength standards imposed upon us by the government?
I guess that said though, OP you would be the strongest person in the world given how retarded you are.
Some background on this - I'm a Junior level college student currently working towards a bachelor of science (and a fast track program for a masters of science) in economics/IR. After I graduate in 4 years (give or take 6 months depending on what route I take with the free graduate school), I'm going to be signing up with the (Marines) Officer Candidacy School and serve for several years.
I've read through a lot of the diet plans and workouts on the sticky/elsewhere over the past couple years, but nothing has really led me to an answer on what I want
- and that is to get as (practical) physically strong and build up the most endurance I can prior to entering the OCS program fully, this obviously includes cardio based endurance as well - if I had to break it down in to the long term goals to achieve before the end of the next 4 years
> - Develop a consistent healthy diet with some supplements if recommended
> - Lower my mile run time from 10 minutes to 7:30 or lower
> - Be able to run 3 miles while carrying a sizeqble amount of weight on my torso (assume 75 lbs.)
> - Be able to sustain good-form simple excercises like pull ups and push ups indefinitely (to a reasonable point) to survive OCS training
> - (This is the weirder one) I want to work on increasing my flexibility too for the sake of preventing injury when really forcing myself ( thinking of trying Bikram Yoga for this, friend highly recommends it to me)
> - Lift a yet undetermined amount (I need to figure out what a reasonable goal will be)
I'm currently in decent shape, though currently only minor (ineffective imo) weight training, and the major thing being a runner (run atleast 5-10 miles a week) with a poor diet as I only recently got moved in to my own place so I haven't had time to figure out a healthy food plan.

>>37457090
So I am essentially starting from the ground up with little to no knowledge about strength training as a 6' 2" 170 lbs. male - any help would be wildly appreciated as my experience mainly comes from friends who excercise and being on cross country teams most of my life.
These are the main questions -
> Where can I find long term diet plans that include breakfasts/lunch/dinner/snack recipes? I like cooking and have a lot of time for it so I don't mind complexity.
> Similarly, what types of free weight exercises are best solely for strength and endurance building? My goal isn't to really show off my body as it is to make myself physically stronger.
> What kind of goals should I have in terms of lifting, and how do I figure out what weight (amount) to start myself with?
> On the pussier side of things, what kinds of training for flexibility do you recommend? I don't want to bulk up and reduce my range of motion too much.
> How do I meld cardio/endurance training with weight training? I'm assuming I should just dedicate more time to it and have time set aside for running and time for weights.
> The supplements information on here is reallllly contradictory to itself, so I'm really confused on what supplements are useful versus what are placebo/harmful. Remember the goal isn't to show muscle as much as it is to strengthen it.
I probably will have more to ask later on, but this is a good point to start at.
This is one of my major life goals to be physically able enough to excel in this program, but I was a lazy fuck and now I need to kick my ass back in to gear to finally get myself ready.
I'm ready to take this on, and refuse to let myself mess up, thank you for your help!
(The offer is a confirmed deal after my graduate studies so this is 100% happening)
