What's your favorite not-period-appropriate thing to include in your faux medieval fantasy tabletop games? I like to point out to my players that their cellphones have no coverage when they're looking to roll for lore.

I like to do medieval fantasy with fashions being almost turn of the century in places.
The capital of one of my kingdoms is sort of like an idealized 19th century Paris with bohemian cafes, fancy boutiques, and elegant and decadent dance parties, all while knights and wizards go to war outside.
I have a 10x10 hexcrawl flashed (almost)out and planning to run it next week.
What to do when players are on the edge of the map and want to continue off the map? Do I just say you can't go there or do I invent an obstacle they cant cross?
How do you guys have dealt with this?

Personally I think that GW is in a bit of a shitty situation.
The main way they market their games is by having GW stores. Due to being assholes to FLGS they have lost their support. As such, currently the only way GW markets their games is through their stores.
Now they are losing money, so they would need to cut costs. At the same time, GW stores account for as much as 50% of the business expenses. Therefore one of the best ways for them to cut costs would be to close stores.

T'was another fine peaceful day in Agronar, birds chirping, and the people going about their business in the bustling castle town.
There was to be a great celebration for peace between the fairer races and the more shall we say "evil" races at the castle. There was food, wine, and merriment abound and all were gay with may until one thing led to another and a fight broke out. Turn's out a group of assassins had killed the good King and assaulted his family, which the lesser races seized this chance and took over the land and a terrible king.
Every male heir to the king was thought to have to have met their end on a blade. However by a tiny, small stroke of chance, a heir did survive although a bastard would be the people's only hope to unite the warring people's into a kingdom of his own right, or maybe some other fate awaits him?

I don't know, we use to have them regularly but the tide turned recently and all /tg/ talks about is how mechanics suck (debatable, character creation sucks balls but the basic task resolution is a dream) and how the devs are a bunch of wankers (totally true)

Elephants, Dolphins and Blue whales all have bigger brains than us and yet you don't see them trapsing around inventing television, wireless internet and posting on 4chan.
Brain size does not correlate to how sophisticated it is or how intelligent it's owner is. It's less about size and more about, like, how it's constructed and so forth.
