This is a thread for Lost Source, an RPG made in an attempt to set the aesthetic feel of a Souls Game in a distant future. so far it seems to be working out reasonably well. ROBOTS WITH GUNZ and other fun things ensue.

how do I justify the existence of sub-aquatic drones? (Or should I abandon that entity and move on?)
I don't want to include a burrowing mod, but want to include burrowing enemies. thoughts?

What's to stop a cloaked pirate ship with a high-powered transporter system from lying in wait until a ship shows up, and transporting its crew into space?

Depends on a lot of things, but in Star Trek ship shields stop beaming to/from it.
Pretty sure that in Star Trek at least cloaking devices preclude the operation of things like transporters due to power consumption and emission dampening. Transporters also can't pierce shields it seems, when that's pertinent.
Beyond that I'm gonna go with an inexplicable sense of fair play among the space pirate community.
Fiction notwithstanding, I'd say its because most criminals/pirates tend to be uneducated and poor do-it-yourselfers so the tech skills needed to really run high end military technology are uncommon. Also, cloaking devices and military transporters are not really off the shelf items. How many real-world pirates have antiship missiles and can use them, and how many have Zodiac boats with outboard motors and AK-47's?
That being said, in the aftermath of a major war where one or more major powers collapsed/pulled back in some way - I can see a crew with a few ex-military...

Welcome to the Warhammer 40k Survival Campaign.
This will be a series of decisions, each choice could lead to death, or, through a series of "correct" choices, could lead to a perfect just as planned.
