>What the fuck is Space Station 13
A top down atmospherics simulator with a "whodunit" on top. Survive in the station and do your department's job, while fixing the problems that the antagonists cause.
>How the fuck do I play this game? I keep hitting myself with things.
Use OOC and ask someone for help on how to play. People will almost always help you get a grip of the game if you're polite about it, just don't reveal too much in-round information in OOC.
other information can be found on the wiki. http://robustvinyl.com/ss13/wiki/

Also if you for some reason want the shitty notes here they are from memory.

So what is Force of Will like? Does anyone play it here?
I always see it at my MtG shop but no one buys it
Banking on weebs lusting over cute animu girls: the card game.
/co/mrade here, there's a guy in my dorm that's a distributor of these cards. He's the typical fare, 200+ lbs, neckbeard, has about a hundred booster packs of these in his single.
He describes the game as being "Magic but with hero units", for what it's worth. I haven't played Magic before, but it was simple enough, and I recognized the potential for some deck archetypes. It's not played much around here anymore, either, but the TCG fans around here at least got a few weeks of enjoyment out of it.But, of course, nobody who plays the game really cares about the mechanics. It's all about the art. Let me tell you something: the deck he loaned me? Sticky. Never buy the cards secondhand, or you're going to catch something.
>>46307866
It's a lazy mtg clone for edh shitters and the art is awful.

How about something like this?
How is it that one of the most allured to military organizations in all of modern fiction is primarily known for incompetence.
And not just misfortune; mismanagement, self indulgence, trigger happiness, corporate pawns, just every trope of military failure shows up in the original work they were created for.
How is this one of the if not THE most badass space soldier outfit of renown?40k need not apply, too hilarious
>>46307357
Mainly because they were written that way. If you look through the Colonial Marines training manual, all the fluff has a very Vietnam feel to it. A lot of it is fighting for corporate masters and wiping out enemy troops and then covering it up.
The movie is fucking awesome by the Colonial Marines themselves are corporate sellouts.

Who?
Welcome to A Song of Revenge and Gold: House Malroy Quest. In which you take the reins of a House of storied glorious past since Aegon’s Conquering, but whose fortunes have taken a turn for the worse in the doom that Robert’s Rebellion brought. You are Brynden Malroy, second son to Lord Vamos Malroy and Lady Esemella Hayford and the last living heir to Steadhold and House Malroy. The year is 285AC, two years after the Rebellion and a year after your return to Westeros.
House Malroy is a pre-genned House designed around the idea of a story within the Crownlands of a House fiercely loyal to the Targaryens and their attempts to live in this new world after Robert’s Rebellion. Lord Brynden Malroy is as well pre-genned but will take direction from the players in his ways and how he develops himself further. This Quest will be moderately more story driven than others of its kind, but the development of the House and her lands will take just as much importance.
If you’ve played one of the many Quests within the ASoIaF setting the rules of the SIFRP system should be known. I will be using the Game of Thrones edition, as well as a few of the expansions namely OOSP and a few house rules which will be explained as we come to them. If you have questions about how things work or why certain actions are taken I can explain them as we go along. In truth this is a learning experience for me as well.

You are Sonia Reynard, Baron of Rioja. One small world among many in the House of Jerik-Dremine. From it you control the fates of a dozen others in the so called Smuggler's Run. With your new position you have the opportunity to become one of the most influential people in your House.
It is from this world that you draw your fleets and armies from. Both have seen their share of action with anti-piracy actions, the battle of Magdalena, and a follow up planetary assault. Now elements are deployed elsewhere helping to strengthen your allies and you own position in the process.
As the Dominion slips deeper into civil war you and those under your command have been fighting to protect your little corner of known space. The DRH1 Relay is for the moment secure, though the threat remains; House Bonrah and House Nasidum have begun planning an attack to retake the area early in the next year.
Knight Captain Katherine Drake is your fleet's Wing Commander.
Uyi Rna is the General of your Army and is overseeing upgrades to your army.
Wiremu Tama is the admiral of your Fleet. His efforts are now focused on preparing your forces to repel the upcoming invasion.
Fadila Saqqaf is your leading diplomatic adviser. It's been with her help that you've been able to delegate responsibilities in the newly annexed territories.
Chide Dlam'ard, the Governor of Rioja is keeping busy with the establishment and expansion of the new planetary capital.
While you're busy planning fleet expansion to help counter the coming invasion, you've also tried to keep up to date with your far flung subordinates.
Daska Rna is leading a large fleet with elements drawn from your forces and the home fleet. With the assistance of a gravity well generator provided by House Ber'helum they've been attempting to intercept heavy weapons before House Nasidum or Che'len can acquire them. They've recovered several Iratar built siege cannons but Nasidum has been intercepting convoys longer. They're known to have made off with many such weapons in the weeks before Daska deployed.
A small unit deployed to the neighbouring DRH 2 relay have been helping to drive off pirates and privateers plaguing the space lanes there.
Near Helios space Wing Commanders Hera Boosalis and Phas Rah'ne have had the best luck up until recently. Their raids have hurt House Bonrah, its allies and Aries, while strengthening your relations with Helios and Ceres.
That is until contact was lost with Hera's Wing while on patrol.
The mixed Battleship squadron assigned to assist them in an emergency has managed to make its way back to a friendly base after losing three ships. They report that the attack wing was engaged by an enemy unit comprised largely of Dragoon class attack cruisers fitted with afterburners.
Your forces were unable to outrun them and were at a disadvantage in terms of firepower.
Recon has confirmed that the enemy unit looted the battle site shortly afterwards and made off with several of the newer Vengeance type attack cruisers. It's difficult to tell from the debris but other ships capable of mounting afterburners may also have been salvaged.
Intel has been quick to confirm that many of the starship crews were able to use their emergency teleporters to survive. Greater than half have landed on worlds with rather poor relations with you and Helios, including the lost Wing's command staff.

FOR HOUSE AND DOMINION
>>46291950
All crew from 3 attack ships and 1 battleship have been lost. Fortunately the raiding fleets were not operating at full crew capacity, their commanders leaving non-essentials behind to help with station and ship repairs. Had they been at full capacity many more would have died.
Currently your two silent hunters are assisting in recovery operations, picking up those people you can reach.
It's known that the captured are in the custody of one of Bonrah's vassals, though their exact location is unknown.
Do you want to focus the efforts of your special forces and Intel assets on finding the crews? Another route would be prisoner exchange. You've captured people of value to other Houses, a trade is not out of the question but would give away just what House your attack wings are part of.
Your people are being employed as Helios Privateers, you could ask Helios to negotiate a prisoner exchange but this will take longer.
As Privateers they should be treated fairly enough, you could leave them for the moment and focus your efforts on finding the unit that destroyed the attack wing.

If AC on average remains less than damage, is it reasonable to roll to hit then deduct AC from damage dealt in a d20 game? Of course, a d20 wouldn't usually be the damage die.
Thread questions I guess. Not necessarily specific to RPGs:
>What's your mechanic for conflict resolutions (fights, arguments, not necessarily combat)?
>What's your mechanic for peaceful interaction (talking, negotiation, etc.)?
>What's your mechanic for determining the exact timing for things to go wrong?
>>46281012
1. I'd usually allow for a a skill check (referred to as proficiency check because [SKILL] is an attribute) of whatever seemed appropriate
2. Usually just roleplay, unless something key like deception is necessary. At that point, its another proficiency check.
3. How do you mean? As in when do negative repercussions occur? Usually immediately, as proficiency checks are used to measure uncertainty or failures. For example, if I want to jump a gap, I roll 1d20 and add the proficiency bonus for acrobatics. Standard fare, but it works.

> What type of game does your group prefer Euro / Ameritrash / wargame?
I have a massive throbbing hard-on for theme-heavy Ameritrash games. FFG's new policy is heartbreaking, because they were my absolute favorite publisher.
> How often do you get to game?
I have a group that meets every other Sunday for big complicated Ameritrash like Eldritch Horror and Firefly, and a group that meets roughly every Tuesday for smaller stuff, though we've missed a few Tuesdays lately.
> What's the one game you've had the longest without getting a chance to play?
I have had Anima: Shadow of the Omega since 2012. Picked it up cheap in a game store because it looked cool, read through the rules, now I just want to maybe eventually play it to say I did but I'm not exactly enthusiastic.
>>46275053
> What type of game does your group prefer Euro / Ameritrash / wargame?
We lean lightly towards Ameritrash. Still play plenty of Euros and the occasional light war game, but maybe 60% of our games are Ameritrash.
> How often do you get to game?
In the past I've been able to game once or twice a week; once guaranteed at the local University board game club meeting, and approximately once every other week with my friends. Lately classes have been downright insanely demanding so I've not been gaming hardly at all, but it looks to be letting up as the semester goes on, thankfully.
> What's the one game you've had the longest without getting a chance to play?
I've had a copy of Ogre: Pocket Edition for a couple years that I keep forgetting about and have never touched. It isn't even on the shelf, since it's so small I stored it in another game box, but that game rarely gets played and every time I open it up I go oh, I forgot I have Ogre.
There's a couple other freebie games from various KS's that are like that, too. Noir of Indines and L99 Microgame Collection are some examples. I didn't pay for those, though, so they hardly count.
The only regular box game that I have and haven't played for any appreciable amount of time would be Thrash'n Roll, which was a KS delivery a couple months ago just as this semester got crazy and my free time evaporated. But it'll get played. They all do.
> What type of game does your group prefer Euro / Ameritrash / wargame?
Ameritrash (I hate that term, but the last time I tried a different name I was called a board game SJW)
> How often do you get to game?
Ideally, once a fortnight. Usually, once a month.
> What's the one game you've had the longest without getting a chance to play?
Eurobäbble (party game) or maybe Mousquetaires du Roi (hard as balls co-op based on the Dumas novels)
