What are your favorite cursed magical items?

A flagon that will never spill it's contents.

Ever. This includes drinking out of it.

A sword that's all glowy and magical and shiny and shit, but breaks the first time you try to hit someone with it.

A cursed ring of water walking.

The sorcerer gets a ring, defects it is magical, and puts it on right then and there.
The good news is that he is always under the effect of water walking. The bad part is that it more or less laminated him forever. When water touches him, it beads up along his skin/clothes and just runs off. He can't get wet in any way. Damage from water based attacks are changed to bludgeoning damage, he hits bodies of water as if it was dirt, it has a bit of give but he can't go under it or break the surface tension.

For the rest of his life, he used magic to replace water in all uses in his life, from drinking to bathing.

Dungeon Masters and players alike: Do you rehearse lines for the upcoming game in your characters voice when you know you're alone? With absolutely no risk of getting caught?

If you don't, what methods do you use to get into character? Do you even roleplay enough to bother?

I usually work out a couple things that I'm likely to say in my head throughout the week without really thinking about it, but that's as far as I go. There's really no accounting for how our sessions might go so it would just be a waste to plan too much

>Do you rehearse lines for the upcoming game in your characters voice when you know you're alone? With absolutely no risk of getting caught?
No, I rehearse in public in full costume to test for audience reaction. At times I feel that my range is a bit limited, as I only seem to get fear and disgust reliably, but perfecting one's craft is a lifelong journey.

It depends on who I'm playing with. Some groups really like the deck-building subgame in 3.x/pf, so I generally give them 3.5 because it's slightly more robust than the other two. Some people want to roll dice & get down to it, so it's Classic for them. Others want to get down with their GoThiK emotions, and Storyteller/Storytelling has good gimmicks for dealing with that.

With respect to the GURPS scene and no respect whatsoever for D&D universalists, there's no one true system to rule them all.
>>
>>46382196
The longest running campaign I was ever in (ran just shy of 2 years) was a 4E game and to this day I wish they would just release the builder for free for it.

However, my personal favorite system as of now is actually 5e. It just hits all the right notes with me (except the Ranger).

I've played many other systems (White Wolf, FATE, Call of Cthulhu, WFRPG 2e, etc), but D&D just keeps calling me back.

"There, we're parked" Derrick says as the cart rolls to a stop in the back of the building you're supposed to be making a delivery to.

"You sure this is the right place?" Emi asks.
"Pretty sure" Derrick says. "I'm gonna go see if there's anybody here. You guys get Ilica out of the cart, but don't start unloading just yet"

Emi is first out of the cart, followed by the devils. You hand the (now sleeping) Ilica down to Emi before stepping out yourself.

"We still have to find mommy" Daisy says.
"Yeah!" Lily says.

Emi takes Ilica over to a nearby bench and sits her down, before sitting down next to her.

"Can I help?" You ask Emi.
"I think she just needs fresh air and some time to come down" Emi says. "I should be able to handle the aftermath... hopefully"

You turn around to see Derrick coming back from the building. "Good news" He says. "We can start unloading now. They weren't too happy with how late we showed up, but they were a bit more understanding after we told them what happened"

Lily and Daisy both fix Derrick with a stare and an angry pout.

"What are you... oh, right" Derrick says. "Well... we can't leave these guys high and dry, not when we have a job to do. But unloading doesn't look like it'll be too hard, so I should be able to handle it alone if you want to take these two to find Fran, Yuu"

Lily and Daisy turn their attention to you, giving you their saddest faces...

>Stay with Emi and Ilica

>Help Derrick unload

Hey guys, sorry about the delay getting this thread up. School is hell.
Here is the log of the last thread.

Gul'nork reflects upon the nature of death. Through his shaman eyes, he is able to see the spirits of long dead beings, who have unfinished tethering them to this earth. Gul'nork promises, to all the Gods who can hear him, that this battle would be the first to the rise of a great goblin empire. And in this marathon of oath making, he receives inspiration. He tugs at the magical energies of surrounding him, and casts a spell upon one of the human zombies that had been particularly mauled by the dire wolves. With the sound of ripping flesh, the wounds that coved this wretch have been mended. For all intents and purposes, the human zombie was “healthy”; the only thing giving away the fact that he was dead, is the blue skin of a frozen man. Not only that, but said zombie had achieved a modicum of intelligence; able to take much more complex commands than before.

While this is happening, the goblins work towards sharpening spears, stringing bows, and practicing their bolas skills. Wolf riders train in staying on their charges, while handling the great speeds that they run. On of the more intelligent goblins suggests using some of the berries that make the green dye into a poison; while not exactly lethal, they cause horrific cramps and loose stool. To any that ingest the berry, they’d have to spend a week to recover.

Finally, with only a half a week left, Gul'nork must muster his troops.

Troop placement.
You have 20 goblins armed with Bolas, bows, wooden shields and armor, and spears; 5 of which can ride wolves. 12 wolves, 5 of which have riders. 100 Kobolds with short swords, wooden shields, no armor. 16human zombies, and 3 goblin zombies. And of coarse one goblin chief with necromancy and shamanism at his command.
A1. Your suggestion.

Tactics.
B1. Your suggestion.

You are Tom Gainer, Class 5 Super and volunteer Cape. Today is a great day! You awake to the sun shine and the smell of Jim making pancakes. You put on your new outfit and trim the rogue hairs from your neat beard. Honestly, you think the facial hair was the best thing to come out of training in the wilderness. You like the ruggedness of it. You but a comb through your firetruck red hair before styling it a little and scramble downstairs for breakfast. You are surprised to see not just Jim at the table, but also Tiffany Cooke (aka Cicada Killer) in her crime-fighting costume and a man you don't recognize. You assume he's the other Union Cape currently trying to restore order to Crimson Beach as he is also in a costume.

Cicada Killer's costume very much reminds you of a wasp or similar insect. It even has insect-like wings on the back of the costume, draping down like a short cape. You take a brief moment to appreciate how the costume accentuates her physique.

"Tom Gainer! Speak of the devil!" The unknown man chimes in gesturing at you and smiling. "We were just about to call you down!"

>"Oh." Sit down to the plate Jim has graciously prepared for you. "What do you want?"
>"Who are you?"
>"Its nice to meet you, Mister..."
>"Isn't it a bit early for house calls?"

(For those wanting a consistant starting image, I'm working creating one, but it might take a little while. Since I'm starting art school this week.)

Would it be a good choice for street-level investigative super heroes, in the veins of Daredevil and Jessica Jones?

Gumshoe?
>>
Do you want to run a game with actual mystery? If so, GUMSHOE is awful for it. The core concept behind it is if a player HAS the right skill, they get the clue no matter what. If no player has the skill, you shouldn't use that clue. So the actual mystery is written out of the story.

There's an AW hack about CW-type superheroes. I can't remember the title's name, though.

'sup Snow, good to see the civ up again.

We probably should prepare our defenses, the wyvern are comming.

This is Boruto Quest, a quest set in the universe of Naruto. It is during the generation of Naruto's son after everyone has graduated from their Genin exam. I haven't kept up with the series beyond the end of the original one, so this one is intended to recapture the feel of that time of Naruto. I will not be incorporating the main show or the Boruto movie's plot into the quest, although some recognizable characters will be present. You play as a 12 year old Chunin named Takeshi. You have been assigned a Jounin squad leader named Hanto, and your two squadmates are Kichiro, a young delinquent, and Ai, a strange social outcast of a girl. You are of average skill in most aspects, although your sharp intelligence, and your jack of trades skill set have brought you far. You have just recently graduated to a Chunin after winning the final tournament. You've been regularly completing missions as a Chunin, and making progress in training. You have a busy week before your next mission.

Monday.

You wake up, and enjoy a calm breakfast with your brother before he heads out for the morning shift. At once you head to the academy, knowing that you intend to study for the entire day. It's peaceful in the village, and there's a light frost on the ground. Fall must be starting to set in. You look around, and sure enough, many of the tree's green leaves are starting to go yellow, orange, or red.

The frost dissipates now that the sun is in the sky, and it gives way to a clear blue day. You arrive at the school and settle into the library, taking out your regular assortment of books and looking over them. You know that since you'll have a lot of time, you can really focus on one subject. You'll probably have time to learn about several jutsu, but trying to learn multiple of jutsu of different types might be an exhausting effort.

You decide that you'll pick one book, and learn several jutsu from it.

Frankly, you feel a bit excited having a full week of training to yourself. You really haven't had time since training with Shikamaru, aside from keeping up on your basic fitness. You start to realize the true number of options in front of you as the vastness of the library becomes apparent. Whether or not you realize it, you've been focusing on the type of jutsu that put tremendous strain on one's ability to control chakra. All this time you've been subtly advancing it, and now you've reached a crescendo where you can suddenly learn many more jutsu than you normally would be able to because of it.

A bead of sweat forms on your forehead considering this sudden realization. "Jeez, why doesn't everyone learn medical jutsu and genjutsu?"

Pick what topic you want to research for the day.

>A. Learn about Water element Ninjutsu.
>B. Learn about Non-elemental Ninjusu.
>C. Learn about Sealing Jutsu.
>D. Learn about Medical Jutsu
>E. Learn about Genjutsu
>F. Learn about Taijutsu theory. The various fighting styles of the Leaf.
