Impassively and objectively; is humanity better off closer to the extremes of the Emperor's vision, the balance of Magnus' or the chaos deep end of Lorgar's?
Talking separately in individual terms, and in terms of a collective whole. Which of the three is:
1) Better off facing the myriad threats of the galaxy's dark?
2) Which one is closer to a perfect meritocracy where the best are functionally immortal and consistently and reliably powerful?
I read of Magnus' coven being able to revive dead sorcerers and removing cancers with ease, but I do not see the same being done on Sicarus, so was Lorgar wrong in his quest for unification when man can simply use the warp like it was used on Tizca? The closest Lorgar's bunch come to feats similar in scope is Erebus' and Kor Phaeron's biomancy in regards to themselves, but two out of a whole legion seems rather lacking in quality for all that the novel Aurelian laid out (half lies or not).
Would I be correct in assuming that against specific threats, Magnus' empire would crumble to something like the Tyranids, while Lorgar's would be cut off and shattered by the warp blank shenanigans of the Necrons? Is the Emperor's vision truly the best fit for mankind concerning all factors, is Ultramar really the highest example humanity can achieve without risking having its support torn out from underneath itself when either its psychic might or its harmony with the warp is taken away by biological/technological feats?
Who had the better vision for the future of humanity, the Emperor, Magnus or Lorgar? If the latter two, why are they not doing more to pursue it in the 40th millennium? Is biomancy every man's dream, or do the machinations of the Dark Age such as cybernetic resurrection come out as simply more preferable? Or is union with a warp entity result in true paradise? Why didn't lorgar, or even erebus or kor phaeron, become twin flames themselves?
Does the Mechanicum/Dark Mechanicum quietly take the prize?

The Emperor's vision has long, long failed. Once he's out of the way, it's not going to fall to one leader. I see Magnus taking over the Astropaths, Navigators, Adeptus Astronomica, etc, and by extension any entities dependent on them.
Lorgar, on the other hand, would be a populist leader of more superstitious groups, possibly even taking over the Ecclesiarchy. Why not? He founded it. He wrote their bible. Hell, he probably still has the original copy. Granted, it's probably been desecrated with the feces and blood of a hundred thousand orphans, but still.
>Does the Mechanicum/Dark Mechanicum quietly take the prize?
I can see Perturabo having a hand in this.
As OP I rather meantwhose vision was better for
1) The Individual
2) As a prosperous Empire
a) The Emperor/Guilliman
b) Magnus (objective utilisation of the warp)
c) Lorgar's (unification with the warp)
d) mechanicum
e) dark mechanicum

So what's the system like? I've hear rumours that it's a little clunky in places and intra-party relationships are hard to pull off.
Anyone played a session? Thinking of running it for giggles.

No matter what the format is, you can wipe your ass with most of those cards instead of playing with them.

Blue for counterspells and brainstorm/cantrips and Jace
Black for disruption, dammnation, and maybe Lily
Splash white for Swords to plowshares, path to exile and a big win condition like Big elspeth.
Look examples like miracles and stoneblade, if i'ts for casual play, you don't need the original duals
Please recommend me a system, /tg/.
- Goofy, light-hearted animu game for one GM and two players.
- Rules-lite to rules-medium (GURPS is out).
- Minimal emphasis on combat (D&D is right out).
- Set in an interplanar magical academy where characters can be shapeshifting dragons, kitsune, fairies, succubi, and other fantastical creatures.
- A major gimmick should be learning and collecting new spells by attending classes, each of which is like a Vancian D&D spell ("Detect Thoughts," "Scrying," "Fly," "Charm Monster," etc.). Ideally, there should be an expansive list of premade spells to ease the GM's burden.
What do you have for me?

"His wife had been concerned he didn't return when he said he would. He's a veteran climber but something must've happened to him.

>The accompanying Tech-Priest of the mission seems to have some special interest for a dataslate, although he's doing his best to disguise his interest. As the team's techmarine you suspect that this dataslate with unusual interface ports could in fact be an intact STC database.
>"Dataslates unfortunately do not take kindly to unprotected trips through the warp", says the Tech-Priest with his mechadendrite reaching towards the dataslate "the Mechanicus will do its best to recover the data within, but I suspect we will not learn much about the hulk from this".

Hi, I’m writing a short campaign for The Legend of the Five Rings, I’d like to share it and receive feedback.
I’m writing down the plot here, then in the comments I’ll give a short introduction to the setting and the PCs.
/// PLOT ///
The PCs are invited to Toshirambo, a castle once ruled by the Lion clan, then obtained by the Crane through political means. There, Daidoji Haruki, wife of the daimyo Doji Arada, will celebrate her passage to the old age, an important milestone. The invitations come with unusually precious gifts, and the PCs families are somewhat compelled to send their envoys (even the unwilling Akodo, for whom the name of Toshirambo alone is enough to start a quarrel).
While travelling for the castle they might start to realize that the peasants around it are in an uproar, and banditism is widespread; some might even be attacked.
Once they are received inside the castle, and they have a chance to chat with the local courtesans, they realize the real reason they were called here: the outside population is on the verge of rebellion, and the daimyo needs help dealing with it.
The daimyo is indeed rather cruel, and quite unskilled at administrating the land: wastes the resources he has to manage, and needlessly starves the population. On top of that he’s arrogant and overall unpleasant, but still he’s the rightful daimyo of the land.
/// PLOT (continues) ///
What is *actually* happening, however, is that Daidoji Hiroki, cousin (incestous? why not) of the daimyo’s wife and first of the daimyo’s yojimbo, has been plotting in order to seize power from the lord. He asked the Scorpions at court for help, in exchange for a good political position in the governance to come.
The Scorpions have been descretely inciting the population, encouraging little mutinies on one hand, and suggesting firm repression on the other.
At the same time, they spread rumors of instability in the lands of the Lion, where some tacticians are bound to consider the chance to take advantage of the situation and seize back Toshirambo.
What Daidoji Hiroki wants is to spark a real battle on Toshirambo, a battle where the current daimyo will prove himself unworthy (eventually die in battle? could be arranged), then take the situation into his own hands, bring the Crane to military victory (with military help from the Scorpion) and come out as the worthy leader of the castle.
What the Scorpion might try is to seize power for itself at the end of the battle, betraying Daidoji Hiroki. In order to prevent that, some important offsprings of the Scorpion are invited to the celebration as well, and in fact held hostages. If the Scorpion were to try anything fancy the youngsters would all die a brutal death.
/// PLOT (continues) ///
The PCs will be descretely approached by the Scorpion courtesans, which will try to recruit them for the battle, on the other side. Akodo Hikaru, in particular, will arrive at the celebration already knowing a bit of the situation, and some Scorpion will propose a Lion-Scorpion alliance for the battle to come, in exchange to his guidance as a general of the revolting army.
At the same time, a Crane magistrate will ask their collaboration in order to understand what’s going on.
/// GENERAL INTRO (SKIP IT IF YOU ALREADY KNOW L5R) ///
The setting of The Legend of the Five Rings is strongly inspired by the japanese Meiji era, i.e. samurai families ruling on their lands, while the Emperor remains the supreme authority above all of them. There’s magic, regularily practiced by “shugenja”, the L5R sorcerers.
The families are actually called “clans”, each clan hosts 3 to 5 “families”.
The major clans are Crab, Crane, Dragon, Lion, Phoenix, Scorpion, Unicorn.
The clans are seldom at war with each other, but most of the time they do not openly fight. Most of the balance of power is tuned through court tricks, deals, betrayals and shit. The Scorpion clan is the undisputed master of trickery, the Crane clan is more keen on regular diplomacy (but Crane courtsmen won’t hesitate dirting their hands with Scorpion-like deals for the sake of the clan - or personal gain), the other clans meddle more or less in politics except for the Crab, which usually despises anything that isn’t open, honest conflict. The Lion is famous for pride and war tactics, the Phoenix is strongly dedicated to magic, the Unicorn was missing for centuries, which it spent traveling in the western world, acquiring foreign knowledge and customs.

Hey Fa/tg/uys and Ca/tg/irls, i need some help. Im looking to start a daemons of Slaanesh army but i fucking hate the crab hand Daemonettes. They look so fucktarded! Can you suggest some alternate minis that i can say are Daemonettes, maybe something i can use as a daemon prince?

So I'm about to start a near future campaign involving a ton of different gangs and faction each with different themes and whatnot. I want to have at least a couple fighting songs for each faction, so naturally I need good fighting music from as many different genres as possible. I'll post what I have in a second, but anything you guys got would be great.

literally anything else would be appreciated. I think I could use a hiphop fight track in there. personally I'd like to keep them instrumental but that's not a hard rule, anything goes here folks.
Most action and vidya soundtracks work great, but I would avoid stuff that's too recognisable because players will instantly associate it with its original source instead of your campaign. It would help if you told us what general theme your campaign has. Is it fantasy, sci-fi, post-apo, something else; is it more dark or light themed etc.
>>46367608
It's a homebrew setting, but I drew a lot of inspiration from Bladerunner, Cowboy Bebop, and classic western movies/movies with western themes like The good the bad and the ugly, seven samurai et cetera. it will have a lot of cyberpunk type shit in there but I don't want lazerhawk and whatnot to be the general tone, Ideally I'd like to be able to shift the general tone of the campaign based on the scene thats playing out. for that, I'll need a somewhat decent library.
I'll be doing another thread later about downtime music, the type of shit you play when not murdering.
anyways, heres another just generally good fight song I got

I'm gonna run an Only War Campaign soon.
What do i need to know /tg?
What to avoid?
What to do to immerse my players as true Guardsmen?
I realize now this is a terrible time, will repost tomorrow morning.

To make them not fight necrons.

Have it on a spaceship with gene stealers and mordians
>game sitting comfortably at four players
>GM falls to the fallacy of "more players = merrier" and brings in two more with completed characters
>game is now unenjoyable mess
>GM, no matter how much they are talked to, does not want to boot out two other players
Is there any solution to this other than leaving the game myself?
Be really obnoxious and force other players to leave.
Or talk to them. Maybe you're the only person who's not enjoying it.
>>46366752
LOL U MADDY LADDY? xD
Yes, the only solution is to either gitgud and lrn2behappy, or /ragequit.
>>46366752
Have you tried not playing d&d?
Nothing wrong with 6 players if people aren't constantly distracted / being distractions or making shit take unnecessary amounts of time.
I wanna run a game where the players are only a little stronger than humans in very base ways. They are going to be angels, but cut off from their divine power source so they only have what divinity is left in them as their power. What system is best for this? As far as power level I get the feeling they will be as strong as like 5 or 10 men put together, weak to salt, and don't have to eat, drink, or breathe. Exalted was my first thought, but exalted is going to be too high of a power level for this I think. Opinions?

I guess I should have mentioned I want to go for a fantasy game of thrones type setting when it comes to how fantastic it is.
>Wheel of Fortune on a body
Is this only blue because it has Skulk on it?
Well, it's not Red because you're not discarding at random.
>>46366199
The Whirlpool effect is blue/red - wheel of fortune is a fixed or larger number of cards drawn afterwards and tilts more red, but this is a Whirlpool effect.
>>46366253
Still shit since it requires you to have cards in hand
So I was wanting a little project to throw some cash at and I've been getting into the 40K lore so I thought I'd get like $30 worth of models and paint them. I was wondering what armies are easy to paint and aren't crazy expensive.
I know you can get Standard Smurfs and Blood Angels for like a dollar a model on eBay, but I wanted to try something a little different that isn't a cheap Chinese knockoff.
I was thinking a squad of Grey Knights because I have a boner for terminators and they are a pretty good army that isn't model heavy if I decide to buy more and actually play from what I gathered.
Any advice would be appreciated!
>>46365596
Find an army you love and build that. It probably won't be cheap, but it'll be worth the money.
>>46365625
Yeah i get that, but I'm talking like 2-5 models for now, not even close to a full army just cool ones to look at.
>>46365643
You should still pick what you like.
