It'd make more sense if it was from another dimension/plane of existence rather than another location of the same world.
While devastating to the locals, scavengers of all kinds would profit from the event. Not only would there be dead things all over the place, but suddenly all sorts of alien resources would be available. The neighbors would probably all go to war in order to harvest the merged area, which would now contain many materials that were impossible to get before.

This. Ork Anger and Bloodlust feeds Khorne just like anyone else. Gork and Mork however represent those distinctly orky concepts that cannot really be translated to the human experience, Brutal Cunning and Cunning Brutality. They represent that entire "ey no hard feelings but i'm gonna cut your skull open and use your entrails to decorate me boss pole" thing orks have going on, where death and war is no big thing, and they don't necessarily feel anger and hate like we do. fighting and bloodlust are fun to them, not a fear or anger response like it is to humans.

Because the Orks are evolved (or devolved as it were) versions of the Krork, a species designed by the Old Ones to help fight the Necrons. Necrons have a weakness to the warp, but are also able to shut down the warp. So, Eldar weren't cutting it and they took awhile to breed and replenish their numbers and tech. To work around that, the proto-orks were made. Easy breeding, they bring their own environment with them via spores, grow and become stronger as they fight, can ramshackle together technology on a whim, and have a warp-like effect that can alter reality and isn't based on the whims of Necron warp-disabling effects. And in the Ork mythos, they believe Gork and Mork are gods, one being brutally cunning and one being cunningly brutal. And this makes them argue over which is which and they beat the shit out of each other because they ran out of Necrons to fight once the war in heaven ended and the brain boys left.
Party encounters a ruined castley, they are lvl 1. There is no gold and no monsters in castle, but lots of annyong/useless shit.

Wrinkled up treasure maps. There may or may not have been a treasure in this ruin many many years ago. But a surplus of maps has been drawn and spread throughout the realms. Thousands of adventurer groups have come here in the search of riches and they all have been disappointed and left their useless maps behind.
