I'm a maths dunce so need some help with dice and percentages.
Say I have a game where I roll a D6. On a roll of 6 I win. On a roll of 1 I lose. On any other number I reroll.
I know the percentage of me winning on the first roll is 16.67% But what are the cumulative percentages of me winning on subsequent rolls if a 1 or 6 isn't rolled?
1/6
You either win or lose or reroll until you either win or lose? Why not just flip a coin instead?
>>46518064
Because that's a different game.
I've tried doing one of these before but it was terribly off-peak.

Waifu wars destroyed society.
A group of worshipers decided thousands of years ago that the best way to control the world would be through Corporations so they built up a trade/banking corporation to economically get the world under its thumb. When they had enough of a strangle hold they started the apocalypse in an effort to wipe out all life on earth. But to make sure everything was dead they had a force stationed in a mountain sanctuary to cleanse the rest of the earth and make sure that every living thing was killed before the universe ended

ANT player here, any suggestions for eldrazi hate in the SB,
Subject.
Personally I almost never get to do this in the games I play and it's really annoying.
It's difficult to write good adventures for characters of such high levels.
Best level spectrum is 9-15.
Afterwards you may as well retire your hero. He'll be fighting only demons and beholders and other silly shit from thereon.
The highest level I've ever seen in a campaign was 12, and that was because the game started there.
My rule of thumb for level systems is to take the full scale (20 in D&D), cut it to a fourth, and assume everything past that point won't happen unless the group is really good (so, no pick-up groups, no last-minute organized games, etc.). Anything past the halfway point I assume won't happen, period. Even with a really good group and no circumstantial fuck-ups, most campaigns just reach a natural, satisfying endpoint long before level 10.

This is a mechanic I came up with for my spider/drow faction. They also use alot of sacrifice effects, so the capture mechanic helps to fuel that.

Should I make it so that it can only block that creature? Hypothetically Hook-Nosed Shrieker could kill the attacking creature that it dealt 2 damage to and then block something else. Maybe instead I should have it "When ~ enters the battlefield, it gets +2/+0 until end of turn"
Or maybe the way it currently is works best?

Yeah, you had your thread.
Now be happy or I'll choke your arse until you're having fucking fun.
Epic thread because why not?
Show us your legions, tell us your memories, etc.
Starting question:
Which do you prefer? E40k with its firepower tables, or EA with its unit individuality?
Answers of NetEA, Space Marine, or Adeptus Titanicus will be disregarded unless backed up.
>>46453681
Those 30k models look fucking awesome. Wish I knew how to get them.

Was going to bump with beginner's guide, but my phone won't find it in the uploader. Does anyone have any suggestions for a general copypasta?
Anyone else started trying out the epicAU rules for Heresy Era battles? Rules are available here: http://epicau.com/mw/index.php/Main_Page.
Unrelated, but has anyone else found that they're drawn to different factions in Epic than they are in regular 40k? Because I've really found that Imperial Guard, Iron Warriors, Nids, and the like really come into their own when the really big toys (relatively speaking) start coming out to play.

You are Sonia Reynard, Baron of Rioja. One small world among many in the House of Jerik-Dremine. From it you control the fates of a dozen others in the so called Smuggler's Run. With your new position you have the opportunity to become one of the most influential people in your House.
It is from this world that you draw your fleets and armies from. Both have seen their share of action with anti-piracy actions, the battle of Magdalena, and a follow up planetary assault. Elements are deployed elsewhere helping to strengthen your allies while others have been recalled to the capital.
As the Dominion slips deeper into civil war you and those under your command have been fighting to protect your little corner of known space. The DRH1 Relay is for the moment secure, though the threat remains; House Bonrah and House Nasidum have begun planning an attack to retake the area early in the next year.
Knight Captain Katherine Drake is your fleet's Wing Commander.
Uyi Rna is the General of your Army and is overseeing upgrades to your army.
Wiremu Tama is the admiral of your Fleet. His efforts are now focused on preparing your forces to repel the upcoming invasion.
Fadila Saqqaf is your leading diplomatic adviser. It's been with her help that you've been able to delegate responsibilities in the newly annexed territories.
Chide Dlam'ard, the Governor of Rioja is keeping busy with the establishment and expansion of the new planetary capital.
The Arcology acting as the capital city of Rioja has come under attack. A HAG working in concert with a Recon team attempted to kill off higher ranking members of the military in the capital. You yourself survived by the actions of your bodyguards, buying time for you to use a secret escape elevator. From there you've retreated to the Mons Abyla military base which is now sealed.
The HAG attacking the city has been all but destroyed, driven into the ground by a well executed ramming attack. The Frigate used by Captain Kymeri and the Rioja Special Response & Investigative Unit has suffered some minor damage in the process but remains operational.
With their most visible means of transport lost the enemy Recon team has disappeared. They may have fled into the surrounding desert or might still be lurking within the city. Scanning teams are beginning an extensive search to ensure the latter is not the case.
In what must be a related attack terrorists have released what seems to be a bio weapon on the larger of the two orbital stations.
"We're detecting signs that parts of the structure are being corroded, but the bio hazard alarms were more in line with an accidental release of medical nanites. Those should have been held in check easily by emergency containment fields.
People on the station have been pulled back to sections farthest away from the damage, but there were reports of marines in battle with terrorists at the entrance to the military sections. There are still firefights taking place there so our troops must be trying to hold them back.
Someone on the station is trying to jam communications which is making things harder."
Worried that this might be the rust virus you encountered in South Reach you've contacted House intel and inform them about the bio weapon.
"Do you believe this to be a bio war attack using the rust virus you've previously encountered?" the officer asks.
You're still uncertain.
"I think it's spreading too fast but it seems this kind of problem isn't too rare."
You recall the isolationist neeran mentioned running into this kind of problem at one point as well.
With more than thirty ships still docked, including your command ship, there are still a lot of people on the station.

I need some spoilers to talk about. I'm dyin over here
It is rare that I ask of anything from /tg/, but I must request your assistance in this situation.
The last session of a D&D game my character killed another character under dubious circumstances and is now on the run from the law.
The two characters had a previous fracas in the tavern. My character was a human barbarian of such short stature that one would be forgiven for mistaking him for a dwarf. The character that he killed was a dark elf woman who was given to poor behavior in the form of rudeness, lewdness, sexual assault, and gambling.
What must be mentioned before the story of the drow woman's death is the life history of the barbarian. He was a poor man from a poor land, who without any decent profession or trade, gravitated to where most able-bodied men without a trade are want to – the military.
He was not very receptive to the training in the king's army – he was relegated to the role of serving food to prisoners of war and invalids. Each day he spent in that position, he longed for combat. In those camps he worked in, he interacted with both the proud and pretentious elves who were the enemy and the men who were injured due to the actions of those same elves.
It was through these interactions he gained a hatred for those of elven kind, preferring the title of knife-ears to refer to them. He heard stories of elven barbarity; the sharpened bamboo shoots covered in excrement, the killing fields, the forest ambushes, the trained tarsiers (pic related) who would gouge a man's eyes out.
Eventually, he retired from the army and made his way towards the setting of the game as a full fledged level one character.
The setting of the game is a colony on an unexplored continent, ruled by a colonial viceroy (think New England). He was quite successful in the new profession of adventurer, being the only one who could lead a party into the ruins of an ancient city without mass death.
>>46501227
While he managed to get along quite well with most of the inhabitants of this colony, his old prejudice from his army days still lingered. He would unleash a litany of horrible insults upon any elf or half-breed elf he would come across. He eventually gained a respect for some of the elves, though the rest he still considered filthy knife-ears.
Enter forth now, the drow woman, who the barbarian gave the title “chocolate knife-ears”. A woman of poor temperament, want to cause fights in the ranks, sexually assault poor human boys, and throw chairs. Conflicts between the two were naturally very common.
The anger between the two stewed and fermented over many weeks until the fateful outing. The party for that particular expedition consisted of: A Human Dandy (some sort of bard), The Drow Woman (once again a sort of bard), A Man With Skin of Flame (a druid), The Scarred Elfen Man (a rogue), A Dwarf Who Wears a Kilt (A fellow Barbarian), A Devil-Man (a monk), and Your Protagonist.
In that outing, the party opted to go for as far as a week of travel could take them, due to the events described below, they only made it five days before returning to the colony's capital city.
The first couple of days were completely uneventful, they traveled along the river that ran east and crossed into the tributary of that river that went further east after it forked. Then came the first eventful moment in that outing.
A cave of many magical spiders was found. The dandy in the party wished to collect the fine silks and the drow was interested due to the spiders, but everyone else was rather uninterested.
As they went deeper and deeper into the cave, giant spiders appeared. One of them was able to grab a hold of the scarred elf and phase him into another dimension with it.
>>46501254
Fortunately, due to good luck, the party was able to defeat the spiders, with only the unfortunate casualty of the dandy's suit, which was covered with green ichor, already soiled due to the sprinklings of dirt that the flame-skinned man insisted upon.
There was argument as to what to do next, but the party eventually agreed to burn the many webs of the cavern, with no gain to anyone.
After the dandy changed his pantaloons, the party continued eastward until the scarred elf began to speak of a desire to return to the caves. The rest of the party could detect something wrong with his demeanor and determined that he was under a spell. Your dear protagonist could not detect a problem with his speech and volunteered his own mule for the elf to ride back to the cave with.
Naturally, the elf was detained until he came to his senses, very angry at the barbarian when he did. He began speaking with the drow in elven, though he did not count upon a certain ability of the bigoted barbarian, his ability to speak elf.
The drow suggested to kill yours truly, right in the middle of the caravan, notably, which caused a pause. The barbarian elf-foe came forth upon the two elves in an anger, shouting litanies of anger towards the knife-ears, to which the kilt-wearing dwarf joined in, with even worse curses (most of them lifted from the video Ravandil's Quest).
In the verbal melee that was ensuing, not a single man, nor elf, nor dwarve, or devil-man could detect the dandy who went behind the drow woman's back and ran her through with his sword-cane. At the sight of the blade bursting through her bosom, the elf-foe barbarian went forth and struck the dark elf with his fist, killing her instantly.

At the sight of the blade bursting through her bosom, the elf-foe barbarian went forth and struck the dark elf with his fist, killing her instantly.
The majority of the party was shocked at this event, the devil-man and the man of burning skin buried her. In regret of killing in such an ignoble way, the elf-foe removed all of the trophies he had accumulated in his travels and thrown them into her grave. The scarred elf-man tried to argue for the elf-foe to be arrested, but he set off along with the dandy back to the colonial capital.
Upon reaching the city, the elf-hater had his hair cut, bought new clothing, replaced his wooden shoes with leather boots, discarded his axe, shield, and javelins for a two-handed sword and in a final act of madness began to refer to himself as “Bregolas, The Lord High Executioner of Titipu”.

You and Aveli make it back to Ordon Town before nightfall truly sets in, and head towards an inn to stay the night, Aveli paying for you both. You can tell the girl wants to bombard you with questions, but thankfully she's keeping a lid on it to avoid drawing any extra suspicion. She still has quite a few, but mostly related to your training. You go long into the night talking about how Impa trained you, certain tricks you've picked up along the way, and your most recent encounters.
In the following morning, you head out fairly early. Aveli looks over her helmet, thumb drawing across the damaged section. "Heh. Guess I'll need a new one." Putting it on her head, she hesitates, almost like she doesn't want to leave, but knows the weight of the responsibility that's been asked of her. "...Termina, I promise I won't let you down. I'll warn them."
"I thank you greatly for this." you tell your comrade with a smile.
"Er..." she tries to rub the back of her neck, the motion looking a little awkward with the bulky armor she wears. "...on the off chance I do need to tell someone about... w-well, you know, but not make it obvious... is there some kind of signal, or sign I should give? Secret handshake or something?"
>A. Teach her your Lullaby

>A. Teach her your Lullaby
It's been a long time, and yet the tinge of excitement in face of the unknown is still there, its spark not diminished in the slightest, and good company to boot.
After saying your goodbyes and promising to be back one day to share the tales of your travels, you set off for Maner. You've been assured it's quite a distance actually and you've been advised to pick up your pace if you want to be there by tomorrow's noon.
Yes, Maner was built far enough from New Royo that the travel will require more than one day on foot. Moreover, no caravansary was built along the way to ease anyone's passage or to offer a comfortable rest in spite of the need for such a structure. However, considering the several small accidents that have happened as of late, you cannot blame a potential innkeeper for not feeling like building anything out in the wilderness.
There are still countless traces of people doing the same journey as you: long-dead fire pits mostly, and a well-travelled dirt road.
However, at some point in the afternoon you find the road abruptly stops, and the greenery of vegetation takes over, leaving you with no trail to follow.
Fortunately for you, the area is much more plainslike than the one in New Royo, with little in the way of tree and forestry, giving you a clear line of sight to the horizon. Maner is, nonetheless, just a tiny spot from where you are right now, and there is no way you'll ever reach that far in a single day. Hence all the food you've been given, which is nonetheless in excess of your needs.
Unfortunately for you there's no wind today and the heat seems to be getting worse since you left New Royo. You're sure it's just an impression, you're used to have a jungle canopy above you which shielded you somewhat, but still...
>Bear the heat, go ahead.
